Abstract

Amid the shift toward digital and interactive learning encouraged by Indonesia’s Kurikulum Merdeka, the integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject is still largely taught through lecture-based and memorization methods, leaving abstract material such as light energy difficult for elementary students to grasp. While prior studies have examined Game-Based Learning and Scratch-based media separately, few have investigated their integration within IPAS instruction at the elementary level, a gap this study addresses. This study aimed to describe teacher activity, student activity, and the improvement of IPAS learning outcomes through the application of the Game-Based Learning model assisted by Scratch media in Grade V of MI Muhammadiyah 03 Pucakwangi. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis & McTaggart model conducted in two cycles, with 23 Grade V students as subjects. Data were collected through tests (pretest and posttest), observation, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that classical learning completeness increased from 56.52% in Cycle I to 86.96% in Cycle II, teacher activity increased from 68.75% to 95.31%, and student activity increased from 62.50% to 85.94%. These findings imply that integrating Game-Based Learning with Scratch media offers a practical, technology-based instructional alternative that strengthens conceptual understanding and active participation, and can serve as a reference model for elementary teachers designing more engaging science instruction. However, the study was limited to a single topic (Light Energy) and depended on access to computers or laptops with a stable internet connection. Therefore, further research is recommended to evaluate the applicability of this model across a broader range of instructional materials, subject areas, and educational levels, as well as to explore the use of the offline version of Scratch in schools with limited access to device and internet connectivity.

Abstract

In todays’s digital era, rapid technological advancements, particularly the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), have transformed how students access information and complete academic assignments. The growing reliance on AI in academic activities has raised concerns regarding its impact on students' critical thinking skills, specifically among students of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) at the University of Mataram. This study aims to analyze student perceptions regarding AI usage and examine its impact on the critical thinking skills of PPKn students at the University of Mataram. The study employs a qualitative phenomenological approach. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews—with subjects and informants selected via snowball sampling—as well as non-participant observation and document analysis. Data analysis involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Meanwhile, data validity was verified through source, technique, and time triangulation. The results reveal three types of student perceptions: 1) A positive perception, viewing AI as a tool to accelerate data research and visualize concepts; 2) A negative perception, viewing AI as potentially creating challenges such as intellectual dependency that fosters mental laziness and the erosion of moral values; and 3) A shift in mindset, where AI aids in understanding and processing information but creates an illusion of independent thinking. Furthermore, AI has a dualistic impact on its users. Positive impacts include improved access to information, greater efficiency in literacy-related tasks, and the availability of additional information sources. Conversely, negative impacts include dependency on AI, diminished critical thinking skills, and threats to the originality of written work. The study concludes that AI elicits diverse perceptions and impacts regarding students' critical thinking skills, depending on how students utilize AI within their academic processes.

Abstract

The digital-era transformation of education encourages the use of technology to enhance student competence. However, practical accounting instruction for trading companies in several state vocational high schools (SMK) in Surabaya still faces challenges. These include suboptimal use of instructional media, manual processing of accounting cycles, and students' limited understanding of transaction analysis and financial statement preparation. Consequently, this study aims to develop an instructional tool—specifically, a trading company accounting practice application named Simulation Accounting (SIMACC). The study employs the ADDIE development model, comprising the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Trial subjects included 15 students for the small-group trial and 29 students for the large-scale trial, drawn from Grade XI accounting classes at state vocational high schools in Surabaya. Data collection instruments consisted of expert validation questionnaires and student response surveys. The results showed expert validation scores of 93% for content and 94.5% for media, along with an 88% positive response from students; these figures indicate that the developed media falls into the "highly feasible" category for use in the learning process. These findings suggest that SIMACC supports more effective, interactive, and efficient practical accounting instruction while reinforcing the implementation of technology-based learning to improve the quality of accounting education in vocational high schools.

Abstract

Low learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) at the elementary school level remain a challenge requiring attention, as instruction often fails to actively involve students in the problem-solving process. Therefore, instructional innovations capable of enhancing student engagement are needed; one such approach is the implementation of a problem-based learning model supported by lakerlok media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of problem-based learning models and Lakerlok media in improving elementary school students' learning outcomes. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach involving 20 sixth-grade students of SDN Tambirejo Demak as subjects. The data collection techniques tested used normality tests, paired sample t-tests, and N-Gain tests. The results of the data normality test were carried out using Shapiro-Wilk and showed that the data were normally distributed, with pretest and posttest significance values greater than 0.05. Furthermore, the paired sample t-test produced a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05, so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, which means there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. The average student score increased from 31 to 80 with an N-Gain Score of 0.6660 in the moderate category, the highest score being 90 and the lowest being 11. Thus, the problem-based learning model and Lakerlok media proved to be quite effective in improving the learning outcomes of Science.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of elementary school students' understanding of Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) concepts, which was caused by teacher-centered learning that limited students' active participation in the learning process. This study aimed to describe the learning process, identify the differences in students' conceptual understanding of IPAS between the experimental and control classes, and determine the magnitude of the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model assisted by Kahoot media on fourth-grade elementary school students' conceptual understanding of IPAS. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of all fourth-grade students of SDN 239 Cigondewah, Bandung, in the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample comprised Class IV-B as the experimental class, which was taught using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model assisted by Kahoot, and Class IV-A as the control class, which received conventional instruction. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, and observation sheets of teachers' and students' learning activities. The data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, the Mann–Whitney U test, and effect size analysis. The results showed that the learning process in the experimental class was implemented very well, with teacher and student activity percentages both reaching 90%. The Mann–Whitney U test produced an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of < 0.001 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference in students' conceptual understanding of IPAS between the experimental and control classes. Furthermore, the effect size analysis yielded a Cohen's d value of 2.538, which falls into the very large effect category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model assisted by Kahoot has a very large effect on improving fourth-grade elementary school students' conceptual understanding of IPAS.

Abstract

The rapid development of the tourism sector in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has increased the demand for clean water, which is largely met through the extraction of groundwater using deep boreholes. This situation has the potential to cause ecological imbalances, such as a decline in the groundwater table, a reduction in the flow rate of community wells, and even the risk of seawater intrusion if water use exceeds the environment’s carrying capacity. This study aims to analyze groundwater utilization practices in the Mandalika SEZ from the perspective of the ethics of balance and to formulate directions for sustainable water resource management. The study employs a qualitative method using a descriptive-analytical case study approach, supported by field research and a literature review. Data were analyzed through the interpretation of various empirical findings, regulations, and scientific studies on groundwater management, environmental ethics, and tourism development. The results of the study indicate that the tourism sector’s high dependence on groundwater has placed pressure on the hydrological system, as evidenced by a decline in water availability for the community and an increased risk of environmental degradation. The anthropocentric paradigm, which views water as an economic commodity, is deemed incapable of ensuring ecosystem sustainability. In contrast, the ecocentric approach offers an ethical framework that views groundwater as an integral part of ecological systems, meaning its use must be aligned with the environment’s carrying capacity and storage capacity. This study recommends strengthening groundwater permitting controls, implementing withdrawal limits based on sustainable yield, conserving recharge areas, utilizing rainwater harvesting technologies, and improving water use efficiency in the tourism sector to achieve a balance between economic development and ecological sustainability.

Abstract

Jambi Batik is one of the cultural heritages of the Malay community that possesses significant historical, philosophical, and economic values, making its preservation essential amid the challenges of globalization and modernization. Batik studios serve as strategic institutions for sustaining the tradition of batik making while supporting the development of the local creative economy. This study aimed to analyze the role of batik studios in preserving Malay cultural heritage and identity, as well as their contribution to the development of the creative economy in Jambi Seberang. The research employed a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected from various secondary sources, including books, scientific journal articles, previous research, government documents, and other relevant references related to batik, Malay culture, cultural preservation, and the creative economy. Data were analyzed using content analysis through the processes of identifying, classifying, interpreting, and synthesizing relevant information. The findings indicate that batik studios function as centers for cultural preservation by transmitting batik-making skills, preserving distinctive Jambi batik motifs, introducing Malay cultural values, and fostering younger generations' appreciation of local culture. Furthermore, batik studios contribute to the creative economy by generating employment opportunities, empowering local communities, supporting micro-enterprises, encouraging product innovation, promoting cultural marketing, and developing batik-based educational tourism. However, these studios continue to face several challenges, including the limited regeneration of batik artisans, competition from mass-produced batik-patterned products, limited financial resources, inadequate human resource capacity, and suboptimal utilization of digital technology. Therefore, sustainable collaboration among the government, local communities, academics, and business stakeholders is essential to strengthen cultural preservation while enhancing the competitiveness of the batik-based creative economy in Jambi Seberang.
