Abstract

Health education for school-age children is a crucial step in shaping clean and healthy living habits. One aspect that is often overlooked is the classification of medicines based on the logos displayed on their packaging. This community service activity aims to educate students of MI Assalafiyah Bode Lor on clean and healthy living behaviors, as well as medication logos. The methods used in this activity include health counseling, poster-based education, and evaluation. The results show a 34% increase in knowledge regarding clean and healthy living behaviors and medication logos. With better understanding, students can become more independent in maintaining their personal health and identifying the appropriate type of medicine based on the packaging logo, fostering a healthier and more informed younger generation.

Abstract

Blubuk Hamlet, Kulon Progo is a rural area with great potential in agriculture and ecotourism. However, the community faces challenges in maximizing this potential due to limited knowledge. This community service program aims to empower the local community through waste utilization to have economic value. The program uses various methods, including training, participatory mapping, and focus group discussions (FGDs). The main activities include maggot cultivation for fish feed production, biodiesel production from used cooking oil, eco-enzyme production from organic waste, and ecotourism planning. The results showed that 80% of training participants successfully understood maggot cultivation techniques, collectively produced 3 kg of maggots, and produced 1 kg of fish pellets in two months. Eco-enzyme production from household organic waste reduced waste by 40%, with 85% of participants using the product as a natural cleaner and fertilizer. Biodiesel production produced 2 liters of biodiesel from 5 liters of used cooking oil, which was tested and used as an alternative fuel. This program successfully introduced the concept of community-based ecotourism management and increased public understanding of the economic potential that can be developed from local natural resources.

Abstract

Pedagogical and content-related issues are the main challenges in implementing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) learning. Moreover, teachers have not fully understood the concept of the STEAM approach. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance their skills in designing and implementing project-based learning, as well as ensuring that learning content is connected to real-life contexts and integrated across disciplines. This community service program aims to develop STEAM learning innovations through project-based and experiential learning models using kirigami, tessellation, and simple robotics. The method is designed based on a partnership concept, grounded in pedagogical co-designing activities, consisting of four stages: pre-activity, socialization, training, and evaluation. The results indicate an improvement in teachers’ understanding of the STEAM approach. Additionally, teachers successfully enhanced their skills in designing STEAM learning using kirigami, tessellation, and simple robotics.

Abstract

Talian Kereng Village, located in Katingan Hilir District, Central Kalimantan, faces challenges regarding the availability of fertilizers for upland rice farmers on peatlands, with a heavy reliance on government-subsidized chemical fertilizers. To address this issue, a community empowerment program was implemented to promote independent organic fertilizer production using local resources. The program involved education and training for the Maju Bersama farmer group on the production of decomposers, liquid organic fertilizer (eco enzyme), and compost from household waste and harvest residues. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, where initially, 53.9% of participants had limited understanding of decomposer and eco enzyme production, but after the training, 95.3% of participants fully comprehended the material. Furthermore, all participants became skilled in producing organic fertilizers. This program is expected to enhance farmers' self-sufficiency in meeting fertilizer needs, reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers, and support agricultural sustainability in Talian Kereng Village.

Abstract

Kampung Edukasi Duren Sari, located in Kembangkuning Village, Cepogo District, Boyolali Regency, has very diverse educational tourism potential. Visitors are invited to enjoy tourism while refreshing their memories of ancient culture through Griya Kawruh and traditional children's games in Plataran Srawung. Tourists can also see firsthand the installation of renewable alternative energy at the Biogas House. However, the facilities and infrastructure in these locations are very limited and less attractive to tourists. The purpose of this activity is to revitalize the Kampung Edukasi through a site plan design to increase tourist attractiveness. Griya Kawruh is designed with a new landscape through the addition of a replica of a traditional well and tidying up the yard by installing paving blocks. The Plataran Srawung is equipped with replicas of stilt games and flower gardens, as well as a spectator stand. Meanwhile, the Biogas House is designed starting from arranging access to the location to comfortable seating for learning about biogas. The new site plan design is expected to transform traditional educational tourist spots into more elegant and attractive to visit.
