Abstract

This study examines the role of religious celebrations and local wisdom in fostering community solidarity and cultural preservation in Indonesia. The background of this research is rooted in the importance of religious traditions and rituals, which not only serve as a means of spiritual reflection but also as an important component in strengthening social bonds in society. The purpose of this study is to analyze how religious practices, such as Eid al-Fitr and the Prophet's Birthday, contribute to strengthening local wisdom values, including mutual cooperation, social concern, and respect for the environment. This research uses a qualitative approach, focusing on community-based traditions, interviews, and participant observations to capture the cultural dynamics surrounding these celebrations. The results revealed that these religious events are not only an expression of faith but also play a key role in promoting social cohesion through collective activities such as sharing food, praying together, and exchanging support. These practices encourage the transmission of intergenerational values such as humility, cooperation, and empathy. In conclusion, this study highlights the deep relationship between religious celebrations and local wisdom, which suggests that these traditions are important for maintaining social harmony and cultural identity in contemporary Indonesian society. These findings also emphasize the importance of preserving these traditions as a way to strengthen spiritual and societal ties in the midst of globalization and modernization.

Abstract

The division of inheritance is the transfer of ownership rights of the inherited property to the heirs. A deliberative division of inheritance can help minimize disputes between heirs. Some steps that can be taken in completing the division of inheritance are: agreeing on the inheritance law to be used, determining the inheritance of the testator, determining the heirs, calculating the share of the heirs, making an agreement on the division of inheritance. This paper explains the importance of understanding the division of inheritance by deliberation in a fair community environment. The presentation of this paper is based on the analysis of library data with a descriptive model. From the results of the discussion, it can be concluded that the settlement of the division of inheritance through deliberation consensus in the perspective of Islamic law is carried out by deliberation consensus, namely by sitting together to solve a problem by presenting all heirs, religious leaders, government officials and families who are close to the heirs and heirs. This deliberative division is due to several factors, namely social factors where this division can reduce conflicts between heirs. In the perspective of Islamic law, this practice is the division of inheritance based on mutual agreement of the heirs. This division is carried out after the heirs realize their respective shares. The division of inheritance by deliberation is regulated in Article 183 of the Compilation of Islamic Law.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are the most varied Islamic educational institutions, because they depend on the dominant Kiai leadership as the central figure and basic element of Islamic boarding schools. Kiai leadership, which is varied and carried out from generation to generation, is a particular problem in Islamic boarding schools. Apart from that, the focus on religious knowledge and lack of openness to modernization makes Islamic boarding schools less attractive to modern society. The quality of education that is used as a public opinion when choosing a school means that Islamic boarding schools need to improve so that they can survive in the modern era. Therefore, there is a need for a Kiai leadership role in improving the quality of education in Islamic boarding schools. This research aims to describe the leadership role of Kiai in improving the quality of education at the Miftahul Huda 453 Islamic Boarding School and identify obstacles in implementing the Kiai's leadership role in improving the quality of education at the Miftahul Huda 453 Islamic Boarding School. The approach used in this research is qualitative research with the type of research being field. with a phenomenological approach. Meanwhile, using observation data collection techniques, document studies and interviews. The data analysis techniques use data reduction, presentation and verification. The researchers found that: Kiai leadership applies a democratic leadership style in terms of its authority, and a paternalistic style in terms of its characteristics, and it can be seen that there is an autocratic style indirectly when seen from the way it influences subordinates. Kiai's leadership role when drawn from E. Mulyasa's theory is: as educator, manager, leader, innovator, supervisor, motivator. The kiai's influence as a central figure in the Islamic boarding school is responsible for ensuring the quality of education as well as changes and developments in accordance with the goals of the Islamic boarding school.

Abstract

This study analyzes the symbolism of rain in the Qur'an using the semiotic approach developed by Charles S. Peirce. In the Qur'an, rain is often used as an analogy for various spiritual and moral concepts such as mercy, sustenance, and signs of Allah's power. Peirce's semiotic theory, which involves the triadic concepts—representamen (the sign itself), object (what the sign refers to), and interpretant (the meaning produced in the observer's mind)—is utilized to explore the meaning behind the symbol of rain in Qur'anic texts. This research identifies and interprets various verses mentioning rain to uncover hidden meanings and the contribution of the rain symbol to the overall message of the Qur'an. By focusing on three verses: QS. Al-Furqan: 48-49 (rain as mercy), QS. Asy-Syu’aro: 173 (rain as disaster), and QS. An-Nur: 43 (rain as a natural phenomenon), this study reveals how the Qur'an uses natural symbols to convey spiritual and ethical messages. The results of this analysis are expected to enrich the interpretation of symbolism in sacred literature and demonstrate the relevance of Peirce's semiotic theory in the study of religious texts.

Abstract

This study examines the characteristics of Islamic studies through theological approaches, analyzing the methodological transformation from classical to contemporary periods. The research employs qualitative methods with library research to investigate the evolution of Islamic theological discourse. Previous studies have shown significant developments in Islamic theology, particularly in the adaptation of classical traditions to modern challenges. This research aims to analyze the methodological characteristics of theological approaches in Islamic studies and examine contemporary theological responses to modernity and postmodernity challenges. The methodology utilizes qualitative content analysis of primary and secondary sources spanning classical to contemporary Islamic theological literature. Findings reveal a paradigmatic shift from apologetic-defensive orientation to integrative-interdisciplinary approaches, while maintaining epistemological continuity through Quranic and Prophetic authority. The study identifies three distinct periods: classical (emphasizing naql and aql methods), modern (hermeneutic-contextual approaches), and contemporary (integration of bayani, burhani, and irfani methods). Contemporary Islamic theology demonstrates anthropocentric characteristics that are more responsive to societal problems while preserving doctrinal authenticity. The discussion highlights the significance of methodological continuity and discontinuity, showing how contemporary theological approaches contribute to critical, moderate, and inclusive Islamic thought capable of addressing globalization, pluralism, and religious extremism. The study concludes that Islamic theological studies have evolved toward interdisciplinary approaches that ground Islamic values in modern contexts without compromising authenticity, positioning theology as an authentic moral voice addressing contemporary value disorientation and moral degradation.

Abstract

Islamic Studies is a multidimensional academic discipline that encompasses not only theological and normative aspects, but also historical, social, cultural, and legal dimensions. Understanding Islam requires a systematic, rational, and scientific methodology to enable an in-depth and contextual analysis of its teachings. This article aims to outline the basic concepts of methodology in Islamic Studies, its scope, and both classical and contemporary approaches. Using a qualitative method through literature review, the article explores the paradigm shift in Islamic scholarship—from a predominantly theological-normative approach to an integrated framework that includes historical, sociological, anthropological, and critical hermeneutical perspectives. The authors also highlight the crucial role of methodology in addressing the challenges of globalization, secularism, and intellectual stagnation among Muslims. Reformist ideas by modern thinkers such as Mohammed Arkoun and Ibrahim M. Abu Rabi offer significant contributions in promoting a more inclusive, contextual, and interdisciplinary understanding of Islam. Therefore, the methodology of Islamic Studies plays a vital role in enhancing scholarly quality and ensuring the relevance of Islamic teachings in contemporary societal dynamics.
