Abstract

The implementation of IT-based learning media has recently had a positive impact on the learning process of students, particularly in Arabic language lessons, so that IT-based learning media can now be found in almost all educational institutions, including Islamic boarding schools. This study examines the implementation of IT-based audio-visual learning media in enhancing Mahārah al-Istimā’ among students at PMDG Campus 11 Ittihadul Ummah Poso. With theacher from the Language Advisory Council (LAC) as the primary data source and PMDG students at Campus 11 Ittihadul Ummah Poso as the secondary data source, this study employs a qualitative descriptive field research methodology. Data collection was conducted through documentation, interviews, and observations. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of IT-based audio-visual learning media in improving Mahārah al-Istimā’ among PMDG students at Campus 11 Ittihadul Ummah Poso. The implementation was carried out during weekly activities every Friday morning, consisting of three stages: the introductory stage, the core stage, and the evaluation stage. Regarding the impact of the implementation of audio-visual media, the students were able to understand vocabulary, comprehend sentences, understand a text, and provide responses to the text.

Abstract

الهدف من هذا البحث هو وصف المشكلات في تعليم اللغة العربية لدى التلاميذ من المرحلة المتوسطة في مدرسة طيبة بسورابايا. ثم أراد الباحث تقديم الحلول المناسبة للتغلب على كل المشكلات التعليمية. استخدم الباحث مدخلا كيفيا ونوع البحث الذي استخدمه الباحث هو وصفي. وهناك ثلاثة طرق أساسية لجمع المعلومات في هذا البحث، وهي: المقابلة والملاحظة والوثائق. ونتائج هذا البحث هي: المشكلات التعليمية من ناحية المشكلات اللغوية التي واجهها التلاميذ من المرحلة المتوسطة في مدرسة طيبة بسورابايا تتعلق بنظام الأصوات والمفردات والتراكيب والكتابة. ومن ناحية المشكلات غير اللغوية تتعلق بالتلاميذ والمعلم والكتاب المقرر، والوقت الدراسي والبيئة التعليمية والعلاج لتغلب المشكلات اللغوية منها؛ (۱) القيام بطريقة التكرار لتحسين نطق الأصوات (۲) توفير المزيد من الحافز لتطبيق المفردات وإتقانها ومراجعتها جمعيا (۳) بيان القواعد الأساسية التطبيقية بالجملة المفيدة ليتمكن التلاميذ من إنشاء جملة بسيطة وصحيحة (4) الإكثار من التدريب وطلب توجيه المعلم لتحسين الكتابة. والعلاج لتغلب المشكلات غير اللغوية منها؛ (١) تقديم عقد دراسي قبل بدء الدرس ليكون التلاميذ منضبطين (۲) توفير مساحة للأسئلة والأجوبة لحل المشكلة من استخدام نفس المقرر (۳) إعادة تنفيذ برنامج "إلقاء المفردات" الذي لم يبدأ بعد (4) تزيين البيئة التعليمية بالملصقات العربية.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the perceptions of students of the Arabic Language Education Department at UIN Datokarama Palu, Class of 2022, regarding the use of the Duolingo application in improving their Arabic vocabulary mastery. The research is based on the need for engaging and flexible learning media that can support continuous vocabulary acquisition, considering that conventional learning methods are often perceived as lacking variety and authentic contextual exposure to the Arabic language. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach involving seven purposively selected students based on their active use of Duolingo. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that most students hold positive perceptions of Duolingo, particularly due to its interactive features such as reading, listening, writing, and speaking exercises, which help enrich vocabulary gradually. Gamification elements, including points, levels, and daily streaks, also contribute to increased motivation and consistency in independent learning. However, several challenges are also identified, including limited vocabulary relevant to academic needs, dependence on a stable internet connection, and a tendency among some learners to pursue streaks without fully understanding the material. Overall, Duolingo is viewed as a sufficiently effective supplementary tool for enhancing Arabic vocabulary mastery, although its use becomes more optimal when combined with contextual materials and supported by lecturer guidance in formal learning environments.
