Abstract

Background. Higher education institutions are given targets to meet key performance indicators (KPI) and to meet study program accreditation instruments. Several new requirements in study program accreditation make it difficult for universities to achieve their targets. Risk management can help organizations reduce risks that hinder them from achieving performance targets. This study aims to identify risks and provide risk assessments to produce mitigation proposals for the Department of Higher Education. Materials. The risk management framework used in this study is integration through ISO 31000 with COSO-ERM, where risk management is carried out comprehensively internally and externally. This research involved experts from a university in Central Java designing risk impact parameters, assessing risks, and designing risk mitigation. Results. The results of this study indicate that the residual risk assessment resulted in 8 low-category risks, 7 medium-category risks, 7 high-category risks, and 1 extreme-category risk. The risks given control (residual) increased by seven risks, and mitigation proposals must be provided. Then, 9 risks exceeded the tolerance limits set by top management, so recommendations for risk mitigation had to be proposed to achieve the Institution's performance targets. Conclusion. Risk Management can be applied to universities to achieve the set goals or targets. The integration of COSO-ERM and ISO 31000 methods can complement the stages in risk management, especially in risk identification, risk analysis, and setting risk tolerance limits in risk assessment, so that the risk mitigation designed is in line with the targets to be achieved by the university.

Abstract

This research aims to show that the Javanese concept of Kekeluargaan as the spiritual commitment influences the loyalty of human resources through management. Human loyalty depends upon fulfilling employees’ needs, which is one of the motivation factors for working. The meaning of work becomes absurd and leads to the material element as the form of human resources development. This old-fashioned paradigm cannot perform the best human resources performance due to commitment and spiritual factors. The previous element creates the incapability of humans to search for the meaning of work for life. The latter makes humans unable to appreciate the job for themselves. Therefore, human resources development issues become a burden for organizations.  The method uses the sociological approach to evaluate and analyze the emic through books, articles, journals, and academic writings to systematize research division through analytical thinking. The result is that the concept of Kekeluargaan, as an Indonesian local culture, becomes a spiritual commitment to bringing diversity to the organization as one family. The conclusion is that the valuable points of Kekeluargaan create a workplace atmosphere for human resources that is happy, comfortable, involved, and together in line with spiritual values.

Abstract

Background. Higher education institutions (HEIs), as public sector organizations, are required to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including the implementation of Green Public Procurement (GPP). This research aims to provide empirical evidence of the moderation effect of gender on the influence of innovation capability on GPP. Methods. This quantitative research used 68 questionnaires, which were filled in by members of the internal auditor unit and procurement officials of Islamic state HEIs. The OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) test was carried out using the Minitab application. Results. The research results show that innovation capability positively affects the implementation of GPP, as long as gender is a moderation variable on that effect in HEIs (Higher Education Institutions). This research supports the RBV (Resource-Based View) theory that each organization needs resources to support its goals. The results of this research have implications for HEIs to increase their ability to innovate and select male procurement officers who can strengthen support for GPP implementation. For regulators, the results of this research can be used as a reference for making regulations regarding the implementation of GPP in HEIs. Conclusions. The limitation of this research lies in the limited number of questionnaires at Islamic state HEIs. Further research can expand the scope of research to all types of HEIs and add other variables that support GPP.

Abstract

Literature reviews on spiritual leadership lack research, particularly those conducted in the school context between 2020 and 2024. This article explores and reviews the theory and practices of spiritual leadership in schools. The articles used in this literature review were obtained through Google Scholar by entering the keywords "spiritual leadership," "principal leadership," and "school”, with 10 articles selected for further analysis relevant to the key words.  Based on the literature review results, theoretically, in a school context, spiritual leadership can be defined as a model of leadership that intrinsically motivates followers to cultivate vision, hope/faith, and altruistic love that enable followers, including teachers, to enhance their psychological well-being. Practically, (1) teachers' professional well-being is positively impacted by spiritual leadership; (2) principals' performance, students' accomplishments, or academic success are positively impacted by spiritual leadership; (3) organizational citizen behaviors are positively impacted by spiritual leadership. Due to its important impacts, spiritual leadership needs further research to get empirical data in the school context.

Abstract

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution is a critical challenge in mitigating climate change and improving air quality, particularly in densely populated urban areas. This study analyzes and optimizes emission reductions from motor vehicles at SMP Darul Hikam Bandung, with 38 vehicles as the sample. Three vehicles are evaluated: gasoline-powered motorcycles, electric motorcycles charged from the public electricity grid (PLN), and electric motorcycles charged using renewable energy sources. The goal is to determine which vehicle type generates the lowest pollution by considering direct emissions from fuel combustion and indirect emissions associated with electricity generation. The methodology employed is Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), which measures total emissions from each vehicle type, production to operation, and end-of-life battery management. Gasoline motorcycles are assessed based on emissions from fuel combustion, while electric motorcycles are analyzed according to their charging source. Electric motorcycles charged from the PLN grid are evaluated for emissions related to electricity generation. In contrast, those charged from renewable energy sources consider the environmental impact of battery production and energy storage at charging stations. The results of this study are expected to provide more precise insights into the most environmentally friendly vehicle options and offer policy recommendations for selecting vehicles that minimize emissions in school and urban environments.
