Abstract

Water holds a highly significant position in the lives of Hindus, not only as a basic necessity but also as an essential element in religious and social activities. However, over time, the quality and quantity of water in Bali have degraded, including in the villages of Medahan and Keramas in Blahbatuh Subdistrict, Gianyar Regency. This research aims to rediscover the values of deep ecology ethics in the efforts to preserve the water sources in these two villages to ensure that the water sources remain sustainable and can be passed down to future generations. This research uses observation, interviews and documentation studies to collect data, as well as qualitative descriptive methods to present research results. Based on research results, it was found that Medahan and Keramas villages have numerous water sources that are socially and spiritually significant. The community preserves them through the construction of sacred sites, the instilling of beliefs about the importance of water sources, the installation of warning signs, and communal efforts to clean the water sources. These water conservation actions, practiced and passed down by the community, are closely linked to the principles of deep ecology ethics, which urge humans to respect nature and recognize the rights of nature as equal to human rights. This ethic asserts that all living beings possess intrinsic value and are deserving of moral consideration. The implementation of deep ecology ethics emphasizes love and reverence for nature, akin to love for God. This research shows that the preservation of water sources in Medahan and Keramas is not only an ecological action but also a spiritual expression that reflects harmony between humans, nature, and God.

Abstract

Bullying occurred among third-grade students at SD No. 2 Sibanggede. Students identified as perpetrators exhibited high levels of aggressiveness, while those identified as victims demonstrated low social and emotional skills. Hatha yoga incorporates various techniques such as asana, pranayama, kriya, mudra, and bandha, which can be utilized to enhance emotional regulation and reduce aggressiveness. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of hatha yoga on bullying behavior among third-grade students at SD No. 2 Sibanggede. This research employed an experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of all 21 third-grade students at SD No. 2 Sibanggede. The sampling technique used was total sampling, in which the entire population was included as the sample. Data were collected using the self-report method through the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire (OBVQ), which includes separate questionnaires for bullying perpetrators and victims. This instrument has a Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.87 for the perpetrator questionnaire and 0.85 for the victim questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a Z value of -2.733 with a significance level of 0.006 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that hatha yoga has an effect on bullying behavior exhibited by perpetrators among third-grade students at SD No. 2 Sibanggede. Hatha yoga was also reported to reduce the bullying experienced by victims, although the reduction was not statistically significant.

Abstract

The performance of the Leko Dance at the Dewa Yadnya ceremony in Banjar Tangkup, Kedisan Village, Tegallalang District, Gianyar Regency, has a uniqueness in terms of its performance and its existence is quite rare. This makes the Leko Dance important to study. In this study, the problems to be discussed are focused on two things, namely the reasons for performing the Leko Dance at the Dewa Yajnā ceremony in Banjar Tangkup and the form of the Leko Dance performance. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection was carried out using observation techniques, in-depth interview techniques, and document study techniques. The technique used to analyze the data is verstehen. The results of the study show that the performance of the Leko Dance is based on the religious encouragement of the community which is based on sincere feelings called ngayah. Mythologically, the performance of the Leko Dance is believed by the Banjar Tangkup community to be a duwe sesuunan at Pura Puseh. The variety of movements and the structure of the presentation of the Leko Dance in Banjar Tangkup are very simple, delivered with soft, flexible and supple movements, consisting of the panglembar and pengipuk parts. In the Leko Dance, two characters appear, namely the male character and the female character. The male character in this case is the role of Natraduwa and the female character is the two nymphs who tempt Natraduwa in his hermitage.

Abstract

Indonesia, with its religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity, faces great challenges in maintaining harmony between religious communities. Pasraman, as a non-formal educational institution that teaches Hinduism, has an important role in instilling the values of religious moderation in the younger generation. This study aims to analyse the learning strategy of religious moderation in pasraman, Mataram City, and the impact of internalising these values on sisyas. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation studies in several active pasramans in Mataram. The study results show that pasraman implements five main learning strategies system-oriented, expositive, cooperative, contextual, and affective. This strategy focuses on teaching the values of tolerance, respect for differences, and social harmony. Despite challenges such as a limited understanding of Acarya and limited facilities, the study's results revealed that the value of religious moderation has succeeded in shaping the character of sisya, who are more open, tolerant, and ready to contribute to a multicultural society. This research contributes to developing Hindu religious education based on religious moderation in Indonesia, especially in increasing tolerance and harmony in a plural society.

Abstract

This study reviews the implementation of Hindu Religious Education in tourism development in Bali with the functionality of local wisdom and spirituality. The rapid growth of the tourism sector in Bali threatens the preservation of local culture and spirituality. This research aims to identify the role of Hindu Religious Education in integrating spiritual and cultural values in tourism management while maintaining a balance between economic aspects and cultural preservation. Through qualitative methods with case studies, data was obtained from in-depth interviews with various related parties. The results of the study show that Hindu Religious Education plays an important role in maintaining and spreading Balinese cultural and spiritual values in the tourism sector. This integration also helps protect sacred places and religious practices from the negative impacts of tourism. However, the main challenge faced is the commercialization of tourism which can come at the expense of the preservation of cultural identity. Thus, tourism management that combines Hindu religious values and local wisdom offers a sustainable model and respects culture. It is important to find a balance between economic development and the preservation of Hindu cultural identity and spirituality in Bali in the long term.

Abstract

Dharmagita education in the province of West Nusa Tenggara is experiencing a decline in interest among the younger generation due to modernisation and globalisation, which shifts their attention from spiritual cultural heritage to digital entertainment. This phenomenon raises concerns about the preservation of Hindu religious values and traditional culture. This research will explore strategies for revitalising Dharmagita education for the Hindu youth in NTB through an integrative approach that includes formal education, non-formal pasraman, art communities, the use of digital technology, and competition activities. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilising data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation involving Dharmagita practitioners, educators, and members of the Hindu community. The research results show that effective revitalisation is achieved by integrating Dharmagita learning into school and pasraman curricula, providing teacher training, utilising interactive digital media, and regularly organising Dharmagita competitions as a form of appreciation and stimulation for the younger generation. In addition, the revival of this tradition as a component of character building and religious identity formation requires active involvement from families, communities, and religious institutions. This research concludes that the revitalisation of Dharmagita is an important strategy for preserving Hindu culture, strengthening the moral and spiritual values of the Hindu youth in NTB, and serving as a model of education based on local wisdom that is relevant to the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

Wariga is a traditional knowledge system rooted in Balinese Hindu cosmology, transmitted across generations through ritual practice, oral tradition, and classical palm-leaf manuscripts (lontar). It serves as a spiritual and practical guide for determining auspicious (dewasa ayu) and inauspicious (ala dewasa) days for a wide range of activities, including religious ceremonies, agricultural practices, construction, marriage, and travel. In the indigenous communities of Buleleng, Wariga has long functioned as a sacred system sustaining harmony between humans, nature, and the divine. However, the forces of modernity, technological digitization, and generational shifts in values have contributed to significant transformations in the way Wariga is practiced, interpreted, and valued. This study aims to examine how Wariga is transforming in contemporary Buleleng society and to analyze the responses of local communities particularly customary leaders and younger generations to these changes. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with Wariga experts, community elders, youth, and digital content creators, as well as document and media analysis. The findings reveal a shift from a sacred, community-based epistemology to a more individualized and pragmatic application of Wariga, often accessed via digital platforms and mobile applications. Youth tend to engage with Wariga symbolically and functionally, while many traditional leaders express concern over the erosion of its spiritual and philosophical depth. Despite this, emerging intergenerational initiatives aim to revitalize Wariga through educational, contextual, and culturally grounded digital strategies. The study concludes that Wariga is not disappearing but is undergoing a dynamic reconfiguration shaped by the tension between tradition and modernity.
