Abstract

Language politeness is an important part in character building of students since elementary school level. The development of information technology and changes in communication patterns have caused a decline in the quality of language politeness in children, so that learning resources rooted in local culture are needed. This is based on Geoffrey Leech's (1983) theory of politeness. This study aims to describe the level of language politeness based on the local wisdom of Minangkabau traditional leaders through the value of the Jejak Batu Batikam deliberation as a guideline for elementary school students. The study used a quantitative descriptive method. The study population was traditional leaders from the Minangkabau Natural Customary Council (LKAAM) of Tanah Datar Regency. The research sample was 18 traditional leaders selected using a purposive sampling technique.Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire containing indicators of language politeness based on the value of the Batu Batikam deliberation.Data analysis used descriptive statistics in the form of averages, percentages, ideal scores, and categories according to Sugiyono. The results showed that the value of language politeness obtained an average of 81.59% with a good category. The dimension of respect for the interlocutor received the highest percentage, at 95.56%, while the dimension of polite criticism received a score of 64.44%.The results indicate that the value of deliberation in Jejak Batu Batikam can be used as a guideline for character education and language politeness in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of the Minang language as a medium of instruction in Indonesian language learning and its implications for the comprehension of sixth-grade students at SDN 04 Koto Tangah and SDN 22 Kampung Luar. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with sixth-grade teachers, classroom observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the Minang language was used as a supporting language in certain situations, particularly when students experienced difficulties understanding materials delivered in Indonesian. The use of the Minang language appeared through code-switching by teachers and code-mixing by students during the learning process. The use of the Minang language had positive impacts, such as improving students’ understanding of learning materials, increasing student participation, and creating a more communicative and comfortable classroom atmosphere. However, the dominant use of the Minang language also caused negative impacts, including phonological interference and code-mixing in students’ Indonesian language usage. To overcome these issues, teachers implemented several strategies, such as habituating students to use Indonesian consistently, providing contextual language corrections, and using the Minang language selectively as a learning aid. This study indicates that a balanced use of instructional languages can support the effectiveness of Indonesian language learning in bilingual environments.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe how the use of digital educational media affects students’ motivation to learn in elementary school. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were students from SD Negeri 06 Padang. The results of the study show that the use of digital educational media, such as educational videos, interactive educational applications, and multimedia presentations, has a significant positive impact on students’ enthusiasm for learning. Students showed greater enthusiasm, asked questions more frequently, and were more focused while learning compared to traditional teaching methods. However, several obstacles were also identified, including limited technological resources, unstable internet connections, and a lack of digital skills among teachers. This study recommends providing schools with technological resources and implementing ongoing teacher training programs to maximize the use of digital media in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to critically explore the urgency of evaluating the implementation of Deep Learning in strengthening character education for elementary school students in the era of Artificial Intelligence and the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through literature review analysis, this research examines various international and national scholarly sources related to the concepts of Deep Learning, character education, AI integration in learning, and the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in primary education. Data were analyzed using content analysis and critical synthesis techniques to identify conceptual patterns, contributions, and implementation challenges. The findings reveal that Deep Learning has significant potential to strengthen character education through meaningful, reflective, collaborative, and contextual learning aligned with the Pancasila Student Profile framework. The integration of Artificial Intelligence further enhances learning effectiveness through personalization and data-driven analytics; however, its implementation is still constrained by gaps in teachers’ digital literacy, infrastructure limitations, and ethical concerns regarding technology use. This study concludes that the implementation of Deep Learning in elementary schools is still in a transitional phase from conceptual understanding to practical application.

Abstract

This study aims to critically explore the urgency of Indonesian language extracurricular activities in Pancasila education for strengthening the sense of nationalism among elementary school students in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through literature analysis, this research examines various international and national academic sources related to the roles of language, school culture, and Pancasila education in shaping national character. The findings indicate that Indonesian language-based extracurricular activities such as debates, speeches, literacy programs, and language-based arts serve as important spaces for the internalization of Pancasila values in a contextual and participatory manner. The integration of the Indonesian language within school culture also strengthens students’ national identity through habitual communication and social interaction that reflect the values of unity, mutual cooperation, and love for the homeland. Furthermore, its relevance within the Merdeka Curriculum and the Pancasila Student Profile highlights that experiential learning approaches effectively enhance students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains in a balanced way. In conclusion, Indonesian language extracurricular activities represent an effective pedagogical strategy for fostering sustainable nationalism in elementary school students.
