Abstract

The implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Jambi Province faces its own complexities given the characteristics of this educational institution which must integrate the national curriculum with the religious curriculum. This study aims to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MIS) in Jambi Province. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included madrasah heads, teachers, parents, and students from six MIS in Jambi Province, namely MIS Nurul Hidayah Jambi City, MIS An-Nizham Jambi City, MIS Nurul Yaqin Muaro Jambi, MIS Raudhatul Ma'Arif Muara Bungo, MIS Nurul Iman Muaro Jambi, and MIS Tarbiyatul Mubtadin Rambahan Tebo Regency. Data analysis refers to the research design of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the supporting factors for the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in Jambi Province MIS include: (1) the commitment of the madrasah head in providing moral and material support; (2) the commitment of teachers in attending training and preparing learning tools; (3) parent support in participating in learning activities; and (4) support from the Ministry of Religious Affairs through KMA policy No. 347 of 2022 and KMA No. 450 of 2024. The inhibiting factors include: (1) limited facilities and infrastructure, especially technological devices, flexible learning spaces, internet access, and learning books; (2) teacher competency gaps in implementing student-centered learning and digital skills; and (3) limited budget for procuring learning resources and teacher training. These findings contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of implementing Merdeka Curriculum in private madrasahs with distinctive characteristics and challenges.

Abstract

The development of science and technology has led to numerous changes in the world of education. Higher education, as one of the professional institutions, is obliged to determine the methods, teaching systems, and evaluation of policies that have been enacted. The study aims to describe the urgency and responses of PGSD students to the development of communication skills-based modules for PGSD students. The type of data obtained from qualitative and quantitative data, as reflected in the results of questionnaires distributed at two universities in Padang city. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was found that on average, PGSD students agreed on the use of modules based on communication skills. The dominant module procurement is more likely to use printed modules. The availability of modules is expected to enable students to learn independently, explore and evaluate their abilities, increase their interests and creativity, develop critical thinking skills, and communicate orally and in writing.

Abstract

Learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in elementary schools faces various challenges, including difficult-to-understand material, a dense curriculum, and limited learning media. This study aims to analyze the needs of teachers and students and develop effective game-based learning media to improve understanding and learning motivation. The research method used a quantitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through a closed-ended questionnaire administered to teachers and fourth-grade students. Data were analyzed quantitatively by calculating the percentage of responses and qualitatively to obtain an in-depth picture of learning needs. The results showed that all teachers (100%) agreed that the IPAS material was difficult to understand and too dense, while all students (100%) admitted to never using learning media during the learning process. On the other hand, all respondents (teachers and students) stated that game-based media was the right solution because it was considered suitable for student characteristics and able to increase learning motivation. The conclusion of this study confirms that the development of game-based IPAS learning media with a microlearning approach and gamification elements can be an innovative solution to overcome learning challenges. These findings recommend the importance of teacher training in digital media development and the integration of educational games in the IPAS curriculum.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of identifying appropriate strategies to improve character education for elementary school students. The research employed a systematic literature review approach. Data were collected from various sources, synthesized, and analyzed to draw comprehensive conclusions. The results indicate the critical importance of character education in the era of technological disruption, which must be nurtured from the elementary school level. Furthermore, this study examines the roles of teachers, parents, and the environment in achieving this goal. Several strategies for teachers to implement effective character education in the future are presented. These strategies include enhancing teachers' digital literacy through socialization and training, fostering collaboration with parents and communities, integrating character values into the learning process, and developing digital-based curricula. If all elements and stakeholders are optimally involved, the goal of realizing the 2045 Golden Generation is within reach. Abstract

The low achievement of Pancasila learning in Phase C (Grade V) of the Odd Semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year, in the Sub-element material "Forms of norms, rights, and obligations in their position as family members, school members, and citizens" is shown by an average learning outcome of 65.30 with a learning completion of 43.75%. After taking solution actions, namely by implementing the Creative Problem Solving learning model, this Classroom Action Research (CAR) has been able to overcome the problem of low student learning outcomes, namely increasing Pancasila learning achievement after going through two learning cycles, namely cycles I and II. With data collection using test instruments and data analysis using a quantitative descriptive analysis model. With a fairly high Learning Objective Completion Criteria (LOCC), namely the average minimum student score of 75 with a minimum learning completion percentage of 80%. After going through the learning process actions, an improvement achievement was obtained, namely from the initial data to cycle II showing learning completeness achievement of 35% increasing to 76.72% in cycle I, and increasing again to 83.19% in cycle II. This proves that the implementation of the creative problem solving learning model can effectively improve Pancasila learning achievement in class VIII.6 students of SD Negeri 29 Dadok Tunggul Hitam, Padang City in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year.

Abstract

This study critically explores the urgency of integrating numerical reasoning into the development of moral judgment and civic awareness among elementary school students. Using a qualitative approach through comprehensive literature analysis, the research examines how numeracy skills interact with ethical decision-making processes and the internalization of civic values within the context of civic and citizenship education. The findings reveal that numeracy should not merely be understood as technical arithmetic skills but as a cognitive framework influencing children’s ability to weigh fairness, solidarity, and social responsibility. The integration of numeracy with moral reasoning enables students to evaluate alternatives more systematically, construct arguments supported by data, and reflect on the broader social implications of their decisions. Furthermore, the study highlights that embedding numeracy in civic education fosters critical thinking, data literacy, and reflective attitudes essential for nurturing democratic citizenship. The implications suggest a need for cross-disciplinary collaboration in curriculum design, ensuring that students not only master quantitative logic but also develop moral sensitivity and civic commitment. In this way, elementary education can play a pivotal role in shaping future generations who are numerically literate, ethically grounded, and socially responsible.

Abstract

This study critically explores the urgency of reconstructing the multicultural education curriculum in Indonesian primary schools as a response to the nation’s diverse sociocultural realities. Employing a qualitative approach through literature analysis, the research examines conceptual foundations, practical implementation, and challenges encountered in applying multicultural education at the elementary level. The findings indicate that the current curriculum remains predominantly cognitive-oriented, while affective dimensions such as tolerance, inclusivity, and empathy are insufficiently internalized. Teachers play a pivotal role as multicultural agents; however, limited pedagogical competence, inadequate institutional support, and the persistence of homogenizing educational paradigms pose significant barriers. Empirical evidence highlights a gap between the discourse of multicultural education and its actual practices in schools. Therefore, curriculum reconstruction should emphasize inclusive values, participatory learning strategies, and the cultivation of a school culture that appreciates diversity. The study concludes that reconstructing the multicultural education curriculum is not merely an academic necessity but a fundamental prerequisite for fostering a just, peaceful, and democratic Indonesian society.
