Abstract

This research aims to develop and test the effectiveness of the Monopoly Mitigation Game (MOMI) in enhancing critical thinking skills of children aged 5–6 years in the context of earthquake disaster mitigation. The study adopts a research and development design using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research was conducted with 21 children from TK ABA 27 Sedayulawas in Lamongan, East Java. The instruments included observation sheets and validation questionnaires. Results showed that the material expert validation scored 87.5% and media expert validation scored 85%, both categorized as "very feasible." Practicality and effectiveness scores reached 82.8%, categorized as "very practical and effective." The Wilcoxon test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), and the N-Gain average improvement score was 66.7%, indicating a high category. These findings confirm that MOMI is valid, practical, and effective in fostering children’s critical thinking and awareness of disaster risk reduction.

Abstract

Management in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) is an important aspect in creating a structured, effective, and efficient educational system. One of the main functions in management is organizing, which is the process of arranging, directing, coordinating, and controlling resources such as human resources, funds, facilities, and infrastructure in order to achieve organizational goals. In PAUD institutions, organizing is highly necessary so that the distribution of duties and responsibilities among divisions can run clearly and optimally. A well-designed organizational structure involves several elements, including the Foundation, Principal, Administration, Student Affairs, Curriculum, Public Relations, Facilities and Infrastructure, and students. Each section has roles and duties that support one another, such as the Foundation being responsible for funding and supervision, the principal acting as the operational leader, and other staff carrying out tasks according to their respective fields. This organizing process is also based on important principles, such as division of work, departmentalization, and delegation of authority. With these principles, the organization can operate harmoniously and avoid conflicts of duties or responsibilities. A clear organizational structure enables better coordination, increased work efficiency, and more directed achievement of educational goals. Therefore, organizing in PAUD management not only functions in the distribution of work but also creates a conducive learning environment for the comprehensive and sustainable development of early childhood.

Abstract

This study examines the role of management, administration, monitoring, and supervision in improving the quality of education in Early Childhood Education (PAUD). Through a literature study, it was found that the success of PAUD institutions depends on the synergy of these four aspects. Administration plays a role in planning, recording, and managing education systematically. Management emphasizes the management of human resources, infrastructure, and efficient learning program planning. Monitoring is responsible for ensuring that program implementation aligns with established quality standards. Supervision provides professional guidance to teachers through observation, training, work evaluation, and coaching. The main obstacles in the field include a lack of qualified educators, minimal continuous training, and limited facilities and budget. The proposed solutions include adding more educators, increasing routine training, utilizing technology in supervision, and strengthening collaboration among principals, supervisors, and the community. With consistent and integrated implementation, management and administrative monitoring and supervision in PAUD can create an adaptive, professional, participatory educational environment focused on continuous quality improvement.

Abstract

Language development is a crucial aspect that must be supported by the child’s environment, including school, family, and society. Observations at TK Aisyiyah 02 Surabaya showed that some children still struggle to recognize similar-looking letters such as b, d, m, and n. The learning media used were limited and the monotonous teaching methods made children easily bored and less focused. This study aims to develop an interactive learning media using Wordwall, based on the ADDIE development model. The media was designed as an engaging game including letter recognition, matching letters with pictures, and letter sound pronunciation. Validation results showed that the media is highly feasible, with a material expert score of 89.29% and a media expert score of 92.5%. Practical teacher interviews also confirmed that the media is suitable for early childhood learning styles, supporting visual and auditory learning, and increasing children's enthusiasm and focus. The trials were conducted using a one-group pretest-posttest design on two small groups. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed, leading to the use of the Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon test result showed a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Learning improvements were also evidenced by the N-Gain Score of 0.86 in class B1 and 0.88 in class B2, both categorized as high. Thus, the interactive media based on wordwall proved to be effective in improving the ability to recognize similar-looking letters in early childhood through a play-based learning approach.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the findings of children who did not pay full attention to the teacher during learning activities at TK ABA 27 Semarang. This resulted in children not being able to understand information and simple commands given by the teacher. The improvement effort that can be done is by applying the whole brain teaching method in the learning process. So, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of applying the whole brain teaching method to improve listening skills in early childhood. This study uses a quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest reasearch form, with a sample size of 12 children. From the results of the analysis that has been done using thet T-test formula, paired sample t-test with 95% significance, it is stated that the probability value is 0,00 which is < 0,05, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means that the application of the whole brain teaching method has effectiveness in improving listening skills in early childhood at TK ABA 27 Semarang. The application of this method shows several positive findings, namely increasing focus, understanding of the material, creating a conducive and pleasant learning atmosphere, and fostering enthusiasm.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a learning medium called POPBUL (Pop‑Up Badminton) and evaluate its effectiveness in enhancing the critical‑thinking skills of children aged 5–6 years. The research was motivated by young learners’ low critical‑thinking ability and the lack of engaging, developmentally appropriate learning media. The ADDIE model—analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation—guided the development process. Expert validation and field testing were conducted with 16 group‑B children at TK Dharma Siwi III Surabaya. Instruments included validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and observation sheets administered before and after using the medium. POPBUL was rated very valid by media experts (87.5 %) and fairly valid by content experts (68.75 %); teacher practicality reached 93 %. Children’s mean score increased from 11.63 (pre‑test) to 16.63 (post‑test). A paired t‑test showed a significant difference (p = 0.000 < 0.05) with an n‑gain of 0.67 (moderate). Therefore, POPBUL is feasible and moderately effective for improving critical thinking in early childhood education.

Abstract

Early childhood sexual education is an essential preventive effort to protect children from sexual violence and to form body awareness and a sense of security from an early age. Kindergarten (TK) teachers play a strategic role in delivering this education, but its implementation in Indonesia still faces obstacles, especially due to the ambivalent to negative attitudes of teachers. This study aims to analyze the attitudes of kindergarten teachers towards early childhood sexual education through a systematic literature study approach. A total of 15 national and international scientific articles were reviewed using a thematic approach based on Azwar's attitude theory, which includes three dimensions: cognitive, affective, and conative. The results of the study showed that in the cognitive dimension, teachers still have a wrong and limited understanding of the concept of sexual education. In the affective dimension, teachers showed feelings of discomfort, shame, and fear, which were influenced by cultural and religious values. While in the conative dimension, teachers tended to be passive and avoided sexual topics in learning. However, several interventions such as training and the use of educational media have been shown to improve teacher readiness. This study emphasizes the importance of systematic training, policy support, and contextual pedagogical approaches to strengthen teachers' attitudes towards early childhood sexual education as a whole.
