Abstract

Shrimp waste is one of the household waste products that has prospects as a liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The content of the macronutrient CaCO3 plays an important role in plants. Making organic liquid fertilizer can overcome odour problems that may arise due to the presence of this waste in the environment. The society service methodology used counselling and training to create POC for residents and business opportunities. Community service activities were carried out at RW 03 Rawamangun, the number of respondents was 12 people, carried out by lecturers and students of the Biology Study Program-Jakarta State University. Counselling and training on making POC from shrimp waste in RW 03 Rawamangun was able to increase participants' standing by up to 83%. The results of the training activities produced a liquid organic fertilizer product packaged in 300 mL bottles which is useful as plant fertilizer in the household. POC products can also be sold as additional income. Conclusion: P2M activities need to be carried out in a sustainable manner and help the government to overcome the problem of household waste that smells bad.

Abstract

Cocoa is one of the main plantation commodities in Bloro village, especially for the Plea Puli farmer group, Nita subdistrict, Sikka Regency. The very promising selling price of cocoa commodities makes people try to develop cocoa cultivation. Failure in cocoa breeding is a serious problem. The community is considered a failure because the breeding success rate is below 50%. The ability of the public to buy cocoa seeds on the market also requires quite a large amount of money. Cocoa nurseries are very necessary because nurseries aim to obtain healthy seeds and superior clones that are resistant to pests and diseases and increase yields both in quantity and quality. Therefore, assistance and development of nurseries is carried out. by utilising Jakaba. It is hoped that this activity can help the community's difficulties to contribute to the prosperity of the local community. The method used is the socialisation of materials on the benefits of Jakaba in cocoa nurseries, followed by demonstrations on making Jakaba, practices for making planting media, planting and maintenance. The results show that the community experienced seedling failures due to inappropriate planting media, and most importantly, plant nutrient needs were unmet. These factors are the main problem of nursery failure. The results of the nursery carried out in this activity reached 98% of the total seeds planted.

Abstract

Bloro Village is one of the villages in Nita District, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province with the majority of the population working as farmers. The leading commodity in this village is Cocoa. The Plea Puli Farmers Group is one of the farmer groups involved in cocoa cultivation, including the seeding and processing of the results. The Plea Puli Farmers Group has a chocolate industrial house with production products in the form of cocoa powder and chocolate bars. To get a quality chocolate bar and cocoa powder products, you need to pay attention to post-harvest handling, namely cocoa fermentation. Because it is at this stage that determines the precursor to the distinctive taste of cocoa. However, the fact is that most farmers do not ferment properly. This program aims to provide education to farmers about post-harvest handling, especially cocoa fermentation. Through this activity, it is hoped that farmers can understand that to obtain good quality cocoa beans, the thing that must be considered is post-harvest handling, especially cocoa fermentation. This program begins with a discussion with several members of the Plea Puli Farmers Group and the preparation of an activity plan with the farmer group. Followed by the preparation stage, namely preparing tools and materials. At the implementation stage, activities began with socialisation about cocoa fermentation, then continued with harvesting, fruit sorting, ripening, fruit splitting, wet bean sorting, fermentation, and drying activities with the Plea Puli Farmers Group.

Abstract

This article presents the results of community service activities carried out in Bloro village, Nita Sub-district, Sikka district. This activity aims to overcome coconut fibre waste in Bloro village, especially in the Plea Puli farmer group. The solution to reducing this waste so that environmental pollution does not occur and does not cause dengue fever which can be detrimental to human health, is to use coconut fibre waste to make items of selling value and have useful properties, one of which can be processed into a planting medium in the form of cocopeat, using a natural process. Namely through grating or crushing. Cocopeat is a planting medium that is cheap, environmentally friendly and has many benefits. One of the benefits of cocopeat is it can be used as a planting medium that is resistant to fungus, able to store a lot of water, and can fertilize plants. Method for implementing the coconut fibre waste processing process which consists of (1) counselling, (2) direct practice, and (3) mentoring. From the use of cocopeat, it can be used as a planting medium for cocoa seedlings. To carry out seeding, it is necessary to select superior varieties, the varieties used in cocoa nurseries, namely clone Sulawesi 01. In carrying out seedlings, it is necessary to go through several stages, namely:(1) preparing the seed for sowing, (2) preparing the nursery, (3) preparing the planting medium, (4) planting, and (5) caring for the seed. From this activity, it can be concluded that nurseries using cocopeat can provide optimal growth and development. It is hoped that this activity can have a sustainable positive impact on the Bloro Village community, especially members of the plea puli farmer group and become an inspiring example for cocoa nurseries using cocopeat growing media.

Abstract

Cocoa butter is a by-product in the production process of chocolate bars and chocolate powder. In Bloro Village, Nita District, Sikka Regency, cocoa butter is produced in quite significant quantities, considering that Bloro Village is one of the largest cocoa producers in Sikka. The "Plea Puli" farming group in the village manages a production house known as "Plea Puli Chocolate House." The main objective of this research is to use cocoa butter produced from the chocolate production process as a basic ingredient for making bar soap. Soap is a chemical compound made through the reaction between fat or oil and alkali (usually sodium hydroxide). This soap has emulsifying properties that allow it to bind with dirt and oil on the skin, which can then be washed away. Therefore, the cocoa butter produced from the chocolate production process can be an absorbing soap-making base material. By using these tallow cocoa stalks to make soap, we can create added value for chocolate by-products, which have been considered waste. Apart from that, this can also make a real contribution to local economic development by helping to increase the income of cocoa farmers and encouraging the growth of the Plea Puli Farmers Group.

Abstract

Superior seeds will guarantee good growth and high production levels if treatment is carried out optimally. To support plant development so that it is successful, the first step is to prepare planting material in the nursery. Efforts that can be made to support and increase cocoa production are through rejuvenating cocoa using the shoot grafting technique. Shoot grafting is often used by combining rootstock and scion. The rootstock is expected to be a stem that is resistant to soil pathogens and sturdy, while the scion is the part that has the desired production characteristics. Tools and materials used: grafting knife, plastic lid, raffia rope, sharpening stone, scion (scion). This activity was carried out in August-December 2023 in Bloro Village, Nita District, Sikka Regency using socialization and demonstration methods, interviews and literature reviews. prepare the rootstock from the seed nursery, the rootstock must have the following criteria: the plant grows healthily and is not attacked by pests and diseases, has strong roots, and the seed comes from a superior variety. The scion/tribe of the mother tree with the MCC 02 variety is productive, healthy and resistant to pest and disease attacks. Grafting is carried out on 3-month-old seedlings, by leaving 4-5 leaves, then the lower stem is split about 2 cm using a grafting knife so that both sides are the same. The entry is cut into a sharp or wedge shape and then inserted into the split rootstock. The entry that has been inserted is then tied with string, covered with ice plastic and tied again, when the shoots start to appear, the plastic is ready to be opened.

Abstract

Plea Puli is a cocoa production centre located in Nita District, Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. KSU is a farmer group institution its main activities are crop farming, plantation commodities and animal husbandry until now has several business units, including joint business units, savings and loans, agricultural business units, food granary business units and cocoa commodity joint marketing business units. Currently, cocoa production is constrained because the plants are old and attacked by pests. Efforts that can be made to improve cocoa production are by rehabilitating plants. Rehabilitation can be done by the shoot connection method. Shoot splicing is one technique to propagate plants using scion and rootstock. The scion used must meet several criteria, namely the plant is not attacked by pests and diseases, comes from superior clones and is resistant to pest and disease attacks. Tools and materials: pruning scissors, grafting knife, plastic lid, entres. The activity began on August 12 - December 5, 2023, and was carried out in Bloro Village, Nita District, methods: Observation methods, interviews and literature reviews. Shoot splicing is carried out on water shoots aged 2-3 months, spliced shoots have a distance of 15-30 cm from below the soil surface, stems are large and are not attacked by pests and diseases. The entries used are brownish-green entries. Water shoots are cut by separating 5-6 leaves, then the rootstock is split in the middle evenly with the left and right incisions. The entry is cut by separating 2-3 buds, then inserting the entry in the joint tread and tie, after which the plastic is covered on the entry that has been knotted and tied. The results of the connection can be seen in 2-3 weeks, the connection is said to be successful if shoots appear. Sufficient knowledge and skills are needed in connecting so that it can be produced.
