Abstract

The development of children aged 0-24 months is crucial for the child's survival. One effort to maintain children's growth within the normal range is by providing stimulation to children. This service aims to identify the characteristics of respondents (age, education and occupation), provide health education and identify the mother's level of knowledge before and after health education. Sampling was done using lecture, discussion, question and answer, and demonstration methods, totalling 19 respondents, namely mothers with babies aged 0-24 months. The research instrument uses a pre-test and post-test questionnaire. The media used are powerpoint, animation videos, and pocket books. The results obtained were that the characteristics of the participants were that most of them were aged 20-35 years (69%), some of the participants had completed elementary school education (58%) and most of the participants worked as housewives (89%). There is a difference before and after health education, namely an increase in pre-test and post-test results, as evidenced by the average pre-test score of 60.94 in the sufficient category, and the average post-test score of 75.47 in the good category. This shows increased maternal knowledge before and after health education, namely 14.53. It is hoped that the implementation of Community Service (PkM) can continue health education activities regarding stimulating development by adding personnel who aim to assist in the service process to make it more efficient. Apart from that, door prizes are made as attractive as possible so that participants are interested in participating.

Abstract

Hypertension, a condition in which blood pressure exceeds normal limits (above 140/90 mmHg), often occurs in elderly people and increases the risk of complications. Finger pressure and relaxation techniques are effective non-pharmacological approaches to lowering blood pressure. Community service activities start from initial preparations such as pre-surveys and approvals to providing materials such as pre-tests, post-tests, and lectures and discussions using pamphlets, powerpoints and videos. From the results of this activity, it was found that this technology was effective in lowering blood pressure in the elderly. At the first meeting, the average blood pressure decreased from 166/82.7 mmHg to 157.2/76.33 mmHg, and at the second meeting from 174.03/82.7 mmHg to 163/76.6 mmHg. Elderly people tend to struggle with some movements, especially in gripping the middle finger and little finger. This activity also produces a HAKI video which explains the finger grip relaxation technique in detail.

Abstract

Community Service was conducted to increase local people’s economy by Poté goat population using Artificial Insemination in Alaskokon, Modung, and Bangkalan. The partner in this Community Service are local Poté goat farmers in Alaskokon village, Modung, Bangkalan. The analysis of this situation shows a problem that the Partner has been facing. Even though the Poté population is not lacking, their rearing is conventional where it is not focused on selling but more on saving for when there is no money (Rojokoyo). To tackle this problem, Artificial Insemination was introduced to the Poté. Moreover, socialisation was done by covering various aspects. Sosialisation was given on caring for pregnant does, semen collection using an artificial vagina, and buck semen dilution using different types of extenders such as coconut water, milk, and egg yolk-citrate. Socialisation of the marketing strategy for goats was also given. Artificial Insemination Technology is a solution for improving the goat population. Goats are fast-bred livestock with a relatively short gestation time and can utilise forage like grasses. Artificial Insemination technique can be administered three times in two years to increase the goat population, thus, the local people’s economy may follow. After the programme was completed, farmers were enthusiastic about collecting goat semen and inseminating livestock.

Abstract

In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, people are required to have skills, knowledge, and abilities in various fields. Therefore, integrating 21st-century skills into the learning process is very important. Learning should emphasise critical thinking, creativity and innovation, collaboration, and communication. One method that can be used to enhance 21st-century skills is STEM learning based on the engineering design process. This community service activity was carried out over three months and was divided into four phases: the preparation phase, the planning phase, the implementation phase, and the evaluation phase. The results of the activity show that the majority of teachers at SMK Darul Muqomah have a good understanding of STEM learning based on the engineering design process. Overall, this training has been well executed. The participants stated that the training was beneficial and could expand their understanding of STEM learning based on the engineering design process. Specifically, this training provided an overview of the application of the STEM approach in school learning. All participants showed interest and willingness to implement STEM learning in their classes. However, it is important to note the challenges or obstacles in implementing the STEM approach in the classroom.

Abstract

Drowning is a serious threat to human life; it has been widely reported that drowning cases result in the deaths of children, followed by teenagers, and then young adults, in all countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that it is important to create serious policies to address deaths caused by drowning, one of which is to raise awareness regarding the prevention and treatment of drowning victims. This community service aims to increase students' knowledge and skills regarding the prevention cycle and chain of survival for drowning victims. The service was held on May 26, 2023, at SDN 1 Telaga Biru Banjarmasin. The participants comprised 59 students from classes 5A and 5B at SDN 1 Telaga Biru. The method used for health education included talk sessions, discussions, and demonstrations. The media used PPT materials, leaflets, videos, and teaching aids (CPR mannequins). The activity began with providing health education through talk sessions and videos about the concept of drowning, followed by a demonstration of drowning treatment techniques. The activity was evaluated through questionnaires administered at the program's beginning and end, followed by allowing participants to demonstrate drowning management techniques. The results of the community service showed an increase in the average knowledge scores before community service (7.79) and after community service (9.11). Additionally, the observation results indicated that 93.6% of participants could demonstrate first-aid techniques for drowning. This demonstrates a significant change in knowledge and skills related to first aid for drowning victims at SDN 1 Telaga Biru. It is expected that health education will improve elementary school students' ability to prevent, recognizing and providing first aid to drowning victims according to the needs and actions that can be carried out by lay people.

Abstract

One effort that can be made to improve students' numeracy skills is by implementing differentiated learning strategies. Differentiated learning is a method used by teachers to meet the needs of each student so that students can learn material according to their abilities, talents and interests as well as their individual needs so that they do not feel like they have failed in their learning experience. In differentiated learning, 3 aspects can be distinguished so that students can understand the learning material: the content, the process, and the product. Based on this, the service team conducted differentiated learning training to improve students' numeracy skills for teachers at SDN 23 Mataram. This training aims to increase teacher knowledge in implementing differentiated learning. Based on the results of community service activities that have been carried out, it can be said that these activities ran smoothly according to the planned schedule and were successful. The participants were enthusiastic about the training because, in the independent curriculum, all teachers must understand differentiated learning. The level of understanding of participants in implementing differentiated learning after training. Based on this, the level of knowledge of participants in the very understanding category was 55% or 6 out of 11 participants. Then the understanding category was 36% or 5 participants, and the quite understanding category was 9% or only 1 participant.

Abstract

This community service aims to increase the business profitability of PKK members in the Semanu sub-district, Gunung Kidul, through product branding training and diversification of kepok banana preparations. Banana kepok, abundant in the region, has economic potential that has not been optimally utilised. The programme was implemented through a series of training and mentoring involving 30 PKK members. The methods used included lectures, hands-on practice, and consultation. The training materials included processing techniques for pisang kepok into various value-added products, branding strategies, and product marketing. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills. Participants successfully developed four variants of processed kepok banana products with attractive packaging and branding. The community service activities focused on increasing business profitability through product branding strategies and diversification of processed kepok bananas for PKK Semanu Village have shown positive results. Based on a survey, most participants felt an increase in skills in processing products and gained new insights related to branding and marketing.
