Abstract

Yogurt is a widely consumed fermented dairy product known for its distinctive flavor, nutritional value, and health benefits. To expand its nutritional profile and enhance textural qualities, this study explores the use of egg whites as an alternative ingredient in yogurt production. The research compares the sensory and physicochemical properties of traditional milk yogurt with "eggurt" a yogurt variant made using different egg white sources: free-range chicken, caged chicken, and duck eggs. Four samples were prepared, including one control (milk yogurt) and three “eggurt” variants. Sensory quality was evaluated through organoleptic testing using a structured Likert scale to assess attributes such as color, surface gloss, aroma, mouthfeel, and flavor. Physicochemical analysis included moisture content, total dissolved solids, viscosity, ash content, and acidity measurements. Results showed that free-range “eggurt” was most like milk yogurt in terms of texture and flavor, displaying balanced viscosity and minimal surface liquid separation. In contrast, caged “eggurt” exhibited increased surface liquid, higher ash content, and stronger acidity, while duck eggurt was noted for its excessive thickness, very high viscosity, and pronounced acidity. These textural and compositional differences, despite the higher production costs, suggest that free-range “eggurt” is the most promising alternative, offering a comparable sensory experience to traditional yogurt while enhancing texture and overall quality.

Abstract

Reducing the number of workers (downsizing) is a strategic step for companies to increase their competitiveness. With downsizing, worker productivity is expected to increase; therefore, the company's financial performance can improve. For the quantitative accuracy of downsizing to be achieved, it is necessary to measure the workload of the related work. Measuring the workload on maintenance work is difficult because of the varying nature of the work activities (e.g., frequency, duration, complexity). This study aims to develop a method for calculating the number of workers working in maintenance. The developed method is based on a combination of time study and RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) methods. The number of maintenance workers is determined by calculating the Full-time equivalent value (the ratio between the actual total working hours and the maximum scheduled working hours). A full-time equivalent value greater than one indicates a workload that is too large (over-utilized), and a full-time equivalent value of less than one indicates a workload that is too small (underutilized). The method developed was then tested in a case study on maintenance work at a mining company. The results show that the proposed method can be used as input for decision-makers in determining the number of workers on maintenance work.

Abstract

Reading is a basic skill that students must master and enjoy. Through reading, students can increase and improve their knowledge. However, reading is a challenging activity.  Based on the observation, the author found that Elementary students in SDN 012 had low abilities in reading activities. This low reading ability has an impact on limited student participation in reading activities.  Therefore, the author creates a story telling frame and stages of reading activities that can increase student participation in reading activities and improve students' reading skills. There were some stages done by the author. The first was designing a story telling frame, implementing reading activities with students, the second was using a story telling frame with students and teachers and the last was evaluating the story telling frame. The design of storytelling frame used square and round shape stainless in gold color. They were decorated with artificial flowers, dolls and cloth.  The story telling frame was designed based on the theme of the story, which is “where is bear?”. There were 20 students who joined the story telling activity using the story telling frame. The pre-test and post-test on students’ reading comprehension revealed that students have better understanding on reading the text by using story telling frame.

Abstract

Regional head elections (Pilkada) are a democratic process that reflects the social dynamics of society in choosing leaders in regional elections, using a sociological approach to understand the social facts of society. This research aims to analyze typologies that influence voter preferences.  This research uses qualitative methods with a case study approach in several regions that hold regional elections. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation studies. The research results show that society can be classified into several typologies, such as pragmatic voters, ideological voters, and traditional voters. Pragmatic voters tend to vote based on personal interests or direct benefits, while ideological voters place more emphasis on the candidate's vision, mission and work program. Meanwhile, traditional voters are influenced by cultural factors, kinship, or personal relationships with candidates. Social factors such as campaign intensity, influence of public figures, and access to information also play an important role in shaping voter preferences. These findings show that voting behavior patterns are not only determined by rational aspects, but also by social and cultural values inherent in society.  This research makes an important contribution in understanding voter behavior from a sociological perspective, which can be a reference for stakeholders in designing political strategies that are more inclusive and responsive to community needs. Apart from that, the results of this research can also enrich the study of political sociology, especially in the context of local democracy in Indonesia.

Abstract

Microgrid systems represent a significant advancement in energy supply technologies, particularly for rural communities lacking access to electricity; however, these systems are predominantly reliant on diesel generators (DG). The formulation and selection of suitable configurations, alongside operational patterns, must be meticulously evaluated in the pursuit of economically viable and dependable microgrid systems. Consequently, this research sought to devise an optimal configuration and operational for microgrid systems situated in isolation, utilizing the Baron Techno Park (BTP) in Indonesia as a case study. The optimization process was executed utilizing HOMER software, integrated with an operating cost comparison, with particular emphasis placed on daily load fluctuations, the selection of control algorithms, the reconfiguration of the power supply system, and the regulation of diesel generator operational hours. The proposed microgrid system yielded a surplus energy production of 16.7%, a renewable fraction (RF) of 100%, a levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of $5.6 per kWh, a net present cost (NPC) of $3,97M. In summary, the study shows that by slightly increasing the capital cost of PV system procurement, it can reduce the operating cost of $629 from the base system in the long term.
