Abstract

The background of this study is based on the challenges faced by school principals in conducting conventional academic supervision, which is often hindered by time constraints, limited resources, and data accessibility issues. To address these problems, a web-based academic supervision system was developed. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D model approach (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). In the Define stage, problem identification was carried out through observations and interviews at Sidorejo Kidul 2 Public Elementary School. The analysis results indicated that academic supervision had been conducted manually and was not systematically documented. In the Design stage, a prototype of the web-based academic supervision system was designed with key features such as supervision data management, supervision report generation, and real-time feedback. In the Develop stage, validation was conducted by information technology and academic supervision experts, revealing that the web-based supervision system falls into the "Highly Feasible" category, with a feasibility percentage of 83.33% for the technology aspect and 92.9% for the academic supervision aspect. A field trial involving school principals, teachers, and educational staff showed that the system achieved a user satisfaction rate of 81.4%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental educational background, self-efficacy, and children's reading habits in the digital era. Using a correlational quantitative research method, the study involved 408 parents in West Jawa with children aged 4–8 years. The sampling technique used was multistage random sampling. Data were collected through an online Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using ordinal logistic regression. The findings indicate that parental self-efficacy significantly influences children's reading habits (B = 0.247; p < 0.001), while parental educational background does not have a direct significant effect (p > 0.05). The model's Nagelkerke R² value of 0.494 suggests that 49.4% of the variance in children's reading habits can be explained by parental self-efficacy and educational background. These results highlight the importance of parental confidence in supporting children's literacy, which can be enhanced through family literacy intervention programs. Thus, this study contributes new insights into the psychological and environmental factors affecting children's reading habits.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to explores parents' and teachers' perceptions of curriculum modifications, the factors influencing their acceptance, and the challenges in implementation. This study employed a systematic literature review method adapted from PRISMA framework guidelines relying on literature sources from Scopus and the Watase Uake tool. Thematic analysis was utilized as the interpretive lens within an integrative review framework involving (1) systematic data extraction, (2) thematic coding, and (3) synthesis. The findings of this study indicate that parents focus more on the impact of modifications on their children's social and emotional development, while teachers emphasize academic effectiveness and technical challenges in implementation. Factors influencing their acceptance include school policy support, involvement in decision-making, and professional training for teachers. The main challenges in implementing an inclusive curriculum include ineffective communication between schools and parents, limited resources, and a lack of teacher training. This study recommends increasing parental involvement in curriculum development, strengthening teacher training, and formulating clearer policies. Closer collaboration between schools, teachers, and parents is key to ensuring the successful modification of the curriculum in inclusive schools. Further studies using an empirical approach are suggested to gain a deeper understanding of the effectiveness of curriculum modifications and their impact on students with special needs.

Abstract

This study examines how teachers in three types of Indonesian lower secondary schools—a general lower secondary (SMP), a madrasah (MTs), and a traditional pesantren—navigate the tension between cultivating religious faith and fostering critical inquiry. Qualitatively designed, the study employed purposive sampling to select teachers, principals, and vice principals from three school types under a single educational foundation. Data were gathered through focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews, and analyzed thematically to explore how Islamic education is understood and practiced. The findings of this study indicate that Islamic education in Indonesia’s lower secondary schools—across SMP, MTs, and pesantren—is a dynamic and context-sensitive practice shaped by institutional ethos, teacher interpretations, and local socio-cultural realities. The tension between faith and inquiry, a central theme in Islamic educational theory, is not experienced as a binary but negotiated along a continuum. Teachers support questioning to varying degrees, with SMP allowing guided inquiry, MTs placing faith-based boundaries, and pesantren emphasizing critical thinking within Islamic sciences. Integration of religious and secular knowledge also ranges from ethical linkages to philosophical unification, depending on institutional vision and pedagogical approach. Despite challenges, all three school types show selective adaptation to technological, curricular, and societal changes—preserving Islamic values while engaging with contemporary demands. This confirms that Islamic education in Indonesia is an evolving project—shaped by the people, context, and purposes it serves.
