Abstract

The learning model is a pattern or steps in learning that are applied so that the expected learning outcomes are achieved more effectively and efficiently. The model chosen must be by the characteristics of the class. Besides that, students have a tendency not to listen to the teacher's explanation if they are less involved in the process. Then, the carousel Feedback learning model can present the missing element, which is more involved students in the learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of the Carousel Feedback learning model on students' mathematical problem-solving skills. The research method used is quantitative with a pseudo-experimental design (nonequivalent control group design). The research was conducted on VIII grade students at MTs Nuraniyah, involving 40 students in the experimental class and 42 students in the control class. The material used was Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV). The results showed that the mathematical problem-solving ability of students taught with the Carousel Feedback model was higher than the conventional model. The average post-test score of the experimental class was 76,58, which was higher than the control class score of  68,14. N-gain analysis showed an increase of 0,45 (medium category) for the experimental class and 0,24 (low category) for the control class. The t-test resulted in a significant value of 0,00 > 0,001, indicating a significant effect on the learning outcomes.

Abstract

The essence of the equivalence of P and Q is a condition that shows that P and Q have the same meaning based on the established reference. Achieving equivalence between P and Q involves transforming the form of P into Q while consistently obeying the established reference. The process of transforming P into Q using the symbols white circle and black circle while maintaining their equivalence is known as the equivalence step. The essence of logical equivalence steps are simplification, substitution and construction. The purpose of this study is to explore the process of the equivalence step more deeply to simplify the expression of propositions and ensure that the meaning of the symbols remains consistent and does not change the meaning of its original context after the equivalence step is carried out. The method used in this study has four stages, namely the preparation of equivalence guidelines, the development of problem-solving questions, simulation experiments, and the last is error evaluation. This study concludes that errors in the equivalence step often occur due to misunderstandings in the use of logical relationships such as "and," "or," and "if-then." Furthermore, incorrect equivalence steps can also occur due to inconsistent steps, steps that do not follow the rules of precedent, and steps that result in contradictions.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the problem of low ability to understand mathematical concepts because many students' conceptual understanding results were below the Minimum Competency Standards, especially in mathematics. In connection with this, this research aims to determine the significant average difference between the pretest and posttest and how much the ability to understand students' concepts in learning mathematics about flat figures for class IV at SDN 3 Terban has increased. The research was conducted at SD 3 Terban with a sample of 30 students. The research method used is a pre-experimental quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique in this research was saturated sampling. Data collection in this research was carried out through tests, interviews, and observations. Data analysis includes a normality test, a Paired Sample T-test, and an N-Gain test. In this test, the Paired Sample T-test results were obtained with a significance of 0.000, which means Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. The pretest average is 53.6, and the posttest average is 86.7, which shows an increase. Meanwhile, the N-Gain test result of 0.67 means that the increase in students' ability to understand concepts can be categorized as moderate criteria, and the interpretation of effectiveness gets a percentage of 67%, including the quite effective category. Based on these statistical tests, the results obtained can be concluded that the application of the use of CIBATAR learning media significantly impacts the understanding of concepts before and after treatment, and there is an increase in students' understanding of concepts using CIBATAR learning media in mathematics lessons on flat shapes.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of applying metacognitive strategies on students' critical thinking abilities in mathematics learning. Through a quasi-experimental design with experimental and control groups, the research involved eleventh-grade students from a secondary school in Pandeglang. Data collection methods included tests on mathematical critical thinking abilities, students' critical dispositions, and cognitive development tests using the Test of Logical Thinking (TOLT) developed by Tobin & Capie. The data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 for Windows software. The results of the study indicate that the metacognitive approach significantly enhances students' critical thinking abilities compared to the expository approach. N-gain analysis shows a positive difference, especially in the concrete cognitive development stage. Hypothesis testing results confirm that metacognitive learning has a more positive impact on students' mathematical critical thinking abilities. With these findings, the research contributes significantly to understanding the role of metacognitive strategies in improving mathematical learning outcomes. Recommendations involve further integration of the metacognitive approach as a primary alternative in classrooms, diversification of mathematical lesson materials, and further research considering more detailed contextual variables. The implications of this research support the development of more effective and outcome-oriented pedagogy in mathematics education at the secondary level.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the types of errors and causes of errors in solving n-order differential equation problems by students. This type of research is quantitative descriptive to describe the percentage of errors and qualitative descriptive to describe the causes of errors. The research will be carried out in the odd semester 2024/2025, involving 20 Mathematics Education students from Ahmad Dahlan University as research subjects. The instrument used was two questions in essay form and analysed using the error analysis stages according to Newman. The research results showed that students did not experience errors in reading the questions. The average error in understanding the questions reached 15%, while the error in transforming the questions was 8%. Errors in the completion process were 33%, while the highest errors occurred at the verification stage, namely 41%. Errors that occur are caused by students having difficulty in understanding the relationship between differential equations and their characteristic solutions, in factoring and determining real and complex roots, in determining general solutions, especially when they have twin roots, both real and complex, and selecting specific solutions and having difficulty compiling the final solution correctly.
