Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of a realistic mathematics learning approach on the creative thinking abilities of class VII students on the subject of Himpunan at SMP Negeri 1 Malaka Timur. The population size in this study is 81 students and the sample size of 18 students. The type of research used in this research is quasi-experimental research. The design used in this research is The One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, while the data collection technique uses the test method. The data analysis technique uses t-test statistics. The results show that students' creative thinking abilities using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) obtained a significant value < 0.05, namely 0.001 < 0.05, so H1 is accepted and this means that the Realistic Mathematics Education learning approach influences students' creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine students' cognitive abilities in solving contextual problems in class VIIIA mathematics learning at SMPS Kristen Ende on opportunity material. The type of research used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The population in this study were all students in class VIII at SMPS Kristen Ende and the sample in this study was class VIIIA, totaling 25 students. Data collection techniques use written tests and interviews. The results of this research show that the ability of class VIA students at SMPS Kristen Ende to solve contextual problems with opportunity material is at the cognitive level, remembering at 85%, including the high category, understanding at 79% including the high category, applying at 76 % is in the medium category, analyze is 94% is in the high category, evaluate is 23% is in the low category, and create is 69% is in the low category. The results of research conducted on 25 students taken as samples showed that 7 students or 28% had high cognitive abilities, 13 students, or 52% had medium cognitive abilities, and 13 students, or 52% had cognitive abilities in the low category. 5 students or 20%.

Abstract

Culture is something that cannot be avoided in social life because culture is a whole and comprehensive unity that becomes the basis for a relationship between individuals. This unity allows mathematical concepts to be embedded in cultural practices and recognizes that all people develop special ways of facilitating mathematical knowledge. culture-based mathematics learning is part of the way that is perceived to create meaningful and contextualized mathematics learning that is closely related to culture.in ethnomathematics, the relationship between mathematical concepts and culture will be deeply studied. Ethnomathematics is used to explore mathematical values and geometry concepts in gawi traditional dance. The purpose of this study is to describe the concepts of geometry implemented in gawi traditional dance. The concepts of geometry in gawi traditional dance will be reviewed based on the form, dance movements and dancers’ clothing. This study uses descriptive qualitative research with library data collection methods and field data. The data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results showed that the geometry concepts found in gawi traditional dance were devoted to the material of lines, angles and flat shapes. It was concluded that gawi traditional dance has ethnomathematics concepts, namely circles, parallel lines, acute angles, right angles, obtuse angles, triangles, and rectangles.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) produce Group Investigation learning tools on line pattern material for Class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Ende. (2) to determine learning outcomes through the Group Investigation Learning Model on line pattern material for Class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Ende. The type of research used is Experimental Research Type. The population in the study were VIII grade students totalling 160 people. The sample was class C as a control class totaling 29 people and class A as an experimental class totaling 29 people. The research instrument used is a test instrument. Based on the results of the study, the post-test data in the control class and the experimental class were normally distributed and homogeneous, so the hypothesis testing in this study used the t-test. The data on students' mathematics learning outcomes obtained a value of s 2.189, while in the table of t distribution values with a significance level  The results of the t-test calculation show that the value of s is greater than the value of or (2.189>2.003). Based on the decision can be concluded that s rejected and 1 is accepted. This means that there is an effect of the group investigation learning model on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII students' row pattern material at SMP Negeri 1 Ende.

Abstract

Static and three-dimensional models often used in textbooks or blackboards are usually insufficient to help students understand the concepts of three-dimensional space in depth. The purpose is to find out students' learning activities using Geogebra media based on Augmented Reality (AR) on spatial geometry material, (2) To find out the increase in student's conceptual understanding through the use of Geogebra media based on Augmented Reality (AR) on spatial geometry material. This type of research is called Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects in this study were students of class VII of SMP Negeri 2. This research was conducted in class VII of SMP N 2 Ende. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, tests, and documentation. The instruments used in this study were observation sheets conceptual understanding tests and documentation. The data analysis technique used was observation guidelines, and conceptual understanding of test data, for the criteria for implementing teacher and student activity guidelines. The results of the study showed: an increase in the ability to understand geometric concepts by 42% after the cycle II learning process was carried out. While student activity increased by 42%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of Augmented Reality media based on geometry can improve the conceptual understanding of class VII students of SMP Ende Negeri 2.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an ethnomathematics-based mathematical literacy instrument for elementary school students, which will be reviewed in terms of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discrimination power. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) with the Tessmer Formative Evaluation development model consisting of preliminary stages, self-evaluation, and prototyping stages (consisting of expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field test). The subjects of this study were 30 elementary school students. The data analysis techniques used were validity, reliability, difficulty level and discrimination power tests. The results of this study indicate that the ethnomathematics-based mathematical literacy instrument is valid based on the results of the expert review test. The reliability of the mathematical literacy instrument obtained a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.687. The mathematical literacy instrument's difficulty level was 40% for questions in the easy category and 60% for questions with a moderate level of difficulty. Meanwhile, from the results of the instrument difference test, 33% were in the weak category, 27% in the mild category, 33% in the good category, and 7% in the better category. The results of the development of mathematical literacy instruments based on ethnomathematics concluded that the test instrument met the eligibility criteria, namely meeting the elements of validity, reliability, level of difficulty and good discrimination so that it is suitable for use.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the ethnomathematics concepts in Apang, a traditional cake of the Bugis people, focusing on applying geometric concepts and cultural values embedded in its production and presentation processes. Using an ethnographic approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that Apang incorporates geometric plane concepts, such as triangles and rhombuses, as seen in the shape and molds of the cake. Additionally, the steaming vessel for Apang is cylindrical with a conical lid, reflecting the application of solid geometry in traditional tools. Apang also embodies the cultural values of the Bugis community, including togetherness, simplicity, gratitude, and patience. It is often served during traditional events such as thanksgiving ceremonies, Menre Bola Baru, and Ramadan traditions. Thus, this study not only reveals the application of mathematical concepts in daily life but also enriches the understanding of the interaction between culture and mathematics within the Bugis community.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the relationship between the perception of active participation of students at SMP Negeri 1 Sambi and their mathematics learning outcomes. Data from this quantitative research obtained from tests and questionnaires will be processed using correlation tests and linear regression. The population in the study was class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Sambi, which was 259 students. Using a random method, each class was considered a cluster. The sample in this study was students at SMP Negeri 1 Sambi and was considered as one cluster, totalling 114 students. The analysis used simple linear regression SPSS from the t-test on the data that had been obtained about the relationship between the perception of active participation of students and their mathematics learning outcomes. The results of this study indicate that the active participation of students has a positive effect on mathematics learning outcomes, which means that the higher the active participation in learning, the higher the learning outcomes, with the regression equation being Y = 63.717 + 0.286X.

Abstract

The Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model aligns with the conditions of the Merdeka Curriculum. However, the application of this model is still limited and has not been widely measured through students' mathematical problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. Therefore, this study compares the effectiveness of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model and direct learning in improving students' mathematical problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. This study used a quantitative method with a Pre-test, Post-test Nonequivalent Control Group research design. The research subjects were taken through purposive sampling, involving two classes as samples. Class VIII D applies the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model, and class VIII F uses direct learning. Data were obtained from pretest, posttest and questionnaire results. The collected data were then analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test and Pearson product-moment correlation test with a significance level of a = 0.05. The results of the analysis show that the significance value for mathematical problem-solving ability and student self-efficacy is below 0.05. It can be concluded that the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model affects students' ability to understand, plan and solve a mathematical problem and can increase student self-efficacy based on this research.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the critical thinking ability of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Kupang regarding the building materials used in flat-sided spaces, which are still low. This study describes the application of the discovery learning model using the Geogebra application to enhance the critical thinking skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Kupang about the building materials of flat-sided spaces. The research method used is Classroom Action Research, with qualitative and quantitative data types. This research was carried out in class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Kupang, totaling 24 students. Data collection techniques in this research were through observation, tests and questionnaires, with the instruments used being teacher and student observation sheets, test questions and student response questionnaires. Implementation of this Classroom Action Research has 4 stages, namely 1) Planning; 2) Implementation of action (action); 3) Observation; 4) Reflection. The research results showed that the percentage of completeness of the results of students' classical critical thinking ability test at the end of cycle I reached 20.83%, increasing to 87.50% at the end of cycle II. The implementation of teacher teaching activity score data at the end of cycle I reached 92.50%, increasing to 98.30% at the end of cycle II and was in the very good category. In addition, the implementation of student learning activity score data at the end of cycle I reached 73.95% and also increased to 93.22% at the end of cycle II and was in the very good category.
