Abstract

This study aims to assess the influence of tidal fluctuations on the operational effectiveness of a sluice gate in the Petung River, Pasuruan. A quantitative approach was employed, combining hydrological analysis, tidal analysis, and hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS under unsteady flow conditions. The dataset includes rainfall records, river discharge obtained from AWLR, and tidal data applied as the downstream boundary condition. Dependable discharge was determined using Q80% and Q95% probabilities, while tidal characteristics were analyzed to describe water level variability. The results indicate that the dependable discharge ranges from 0.548–0.730 m³/s (Q80%) and 0.416–0.526 m³/s (Q95%), reflecting limited flow during dry conditions. Tidal variation shows a considerable range, with maximum water levels reaching 2.80 m and minimum levels around 0.41 m, significantly affecting the river water profile. Hydraulic simulation reveals the occurrence of a backwater effect during high tide, leading to upstream water level rise and reduced flow capacity. The evaluation further indicates that sluice gate performance decreases during high tide due to downstream pressure, while flow conditions improve during low tide. Therefore, an adaptive operation strategy based on tidal patterns is required to enhance flow regulation and minimize flood risk.

Abstract

Clay soil is a type of soil characterized by high plasticity and strong sensitivity to changes in water content, which can significantly affect construction stability. Shear strength parameters, namely cohesion (c) and internal friction angle (φ), are essential factors in geotechnical analysis; however, their determination generally requires considerable time and cost. Therefore, an alternative approach is needed by utilizing the Plasticity Index (PI) as a predictive parameter for soil shear strength. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the plasticity index and the shear strength parameters of clay soil in Manyar District, Gresik Regency.The research employed a quantitative approach based on laboratory testing, including Atterberg limits tests to determine the plasticity index and direct shear tests to obtain cohesion and internal friction angle values. The analysis was conducted at several soil depths using descriptive and empirical regression approaches.The results indicate that the plasticity index ranges from 41.97% to 47.84%, with cohesion values between 0.25–0.39 kg/cm² and internal friction angles ranging from 7° to 15°. The analysis shows that an increase in the plasticity index tends to be followed by an increase in cohesion and a decrease in the internal friction angle. These conditions indicate that the soil at the study site is predominantly cohesive with a relatively high deformation potential. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a preliminary approach for estimating shear strength parameters in similar clay soil conditions.

Abstract

Museum as a place to store historical objects both tangible and intangible. Intangible cultural heritage in Central Kalimantan Province includes: karungut, tiwah, handep, sapundu, Sasana Bandar, Mamapas Lewu, Nahunan, Wadian Dadas, Babukung, Nota Garung, Bana'I Tamu, Wadi, Penggolaran, Manugal, and Handap requires space in the Museum. The goal is to design a Cultural Heritage Museum that can accommodate various activities related to the Intangible Dayak cultural heritage of Central Kalimantan with a contextual architecture approach. The design method used is qualitative based on a contextual approach. Contextual architecture is a relationship that has a harmonious meaning, is unified, and has an interest that is visually related to a sustainable environment. Contextual application includes the processing of space, circulation, appearance, and supporting facilities. Contextual is described through the implementation of a space for tradition and oral expression, a performing arts space, a traditional and ritual space, a space for natural and life knowledge, a cultural study, a traditional music studio.

Abstract

The construction sector is one of the largest contributors to global carbon emissions, making green construction a strategic approach toward achieving sustainable development. This study aims to analyze the effect of green construction implementation on environmental performance and economic performance of construction projects in Indonesia, as well as to examine the mediating role of environmental performance in this relationship. A quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was employed as the primary analytical method. Data were collected through structured five-point Likert-scale questionnaires from 150 construction professionals directly involved in green building projects in Indonesia, including project managers, consultants, contractors, and environmental specialists. The results confirm that green construction has a positive and significant effect on environmental performance (β = 0.623; p < 0.001) and economic performance (β = 0.218; p < 0.05). Environmental performance also demonstrated a positive and significant effect on economic performance (β = 0.512; p < 0.001) and partially mediates the relationship between green construction and economic performance, with a Variance Accounted For (VAF) value of 59.4%. The R² values of environmental performance (68.8%) and economic performance (57.1%) indicate substantial explanatory power of the model. These findings affirm that the success of green construction implementation in generating economic benefits is largely determined by prior environmental performance achievements as the primary mediation pathway, necessitating a holistic and integrated implementation strategy.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a critical aspect of the construction industry, as this sector has a high rate of workplace accidents. This study aims to examine the implementation of OSH in construction projects in Palangka Raya, analyze its compliance with applicable regulations, and identify challenges in its implementation. The study was conducted on 8 construction projects, including road, drainage, building, and pile slab projects in Palangka Raya City. The research was carried out over a three-month period, from September to November 2025. The results indicate that OSH implementation has been carried out through the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the installation of safety signs, the application of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS), risk identification, and the provision of health and emergency facilities. However, implementation remains suboptimal, particularly regarding compliance with PPE usage, consistency in safety activities, and on-site supervision. OSH implementation generally adheres to applicable regulations; however, inconsistencies are still observed in practice. The primary challenges in OSH implementation stem from human factors, the work environment, and project management. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance worker awareness, strengthen supervision, and foster a safety culture to improve the effectiveness of OSH implementation in construction projects.

Abstract

Increased traffic volume on arterial roads is causing noise in the vicinity of Dr. Doris Sylvanus General Hospital in Palangka Raya, which has the potential to disturb patients. Based on the quality standards of Minister of Environment Decree No. 48 of 1996, the noise threshold for hospitals is set at 55 dB(A). This study aims to analyze noise levels, evaluate the effects of traffic volume and vehicle speed, and formulate control recommendations. The study employed a quantitative descriptive method through field surveys—including a preliminary survey and a main survey—and mathematical modeling conducted in February–March 2026. The collected data included Sound Level Meter (SLM) noise readings, traffic volume, and average vehicle speed. Data analysis was performed by validating the direct measurement results from the Sound Level Meter (SLM) against the results of the Calculation of Road Traffic Noise (CoRTN) model, then comparing them with the quality standards of Ministry of Environment Decree No. 48 of 1996 using descriptive-correlational graphs. The research results show that the average SLM noise levels ranged from 65.6–68.4 dB(A) and the CoRTN model values ranged from 65.2–66.8 dB(A), proving that all observation sessions exceeded the safe threshold of 55 dB(A). Traffic volume was the most significant and dominant factor, with the highest value recorded on Friday afternoon (1,045.4 vehicles per hour; 66.8 dB(A)). Recommended control measures include implementing a one-way traffic system, designing quick drop-off zones, installing concrete walls, and the use of soundproofing materials.

Abstract

Sand mining activities can cause environmental changes and reduce water quality in abandoned mining ponds due to alterations in the physical and chemical characteristics of aquatic ecosystems. This study aimed to analyze the level of water pollution in former sand mining ponds located in Kalampangan Village, Palangka Raya City, based on physical and chemical parameters and the Pollution Index (PI). The study employed a quantitative descriptive method using primary data obtained from water quality measurements, including Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), pH, copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The analysis was conducted by comparing the measurement results with the water quality standards stipulated in Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021 and by calculating the Pollution Index (PI). The results showed that TSS and TDS concentrations complied with the applicable water quality standards, whereas several chemical parameters, including pH, Cu, Pb, and COD, exceeded the established limits. The low pH values indicated acidic water conditions, while the elevated COD levels suggested the presence of organic and inorganic pollutants in the water. Based on the Pollution Index (PI) calculation, all water samples were classified as slightly polluted. Therefore, environmental management measures such as liming, bioremediation, the utilization of aquatic plants, and aeration are recommended to improve water quality in former sand mining ponds.

Abstract

The success of a project is determined by strict time constraints accompanied by the need to maintain the required building quality standards within a dynamic environment. However, the pressure to meet these schedule requirements increases workers' workloads, which ultimately leads to work fatigue. The implementation period of the Maranatha Church Construction Project was 120 days, which is relatively short compared to similar building projects that generally require 180 to 360 days, depending on the building area, design complexity, construction methods, and availability of resources. Therefore, this project demonstrates a relatively high level of schedule efficiency. This accelerated schedule created considerable work pressure, particularly in heavy steel and roofing activities. Accordingly, this study was conducted to identify workers' workload levels using the Workload Analysis (WLA) method and to determine the optimal labor allocation to achieve a balanced distribution of workloads. The work sampling technique was employed for data collection to obtain objective information regarding the number of workers and their activities in carrying out the assigned tasks. The results indicate the existence of workload imbalance. Fitters (120.21%) and welders (120.75%) were classified as overloaded; therefore, the addition of one worker for each occupation is recommended to reduce their workloads to a near-optimal level. In contrast, roof workers experienced an underload condition (79.20%), and a reduction of one worker is recommended to improve cost efficiency and increase the group's productivity to 95.04%. Meanwhile, erection workers and steel workers were found to have optimal and stable workload levels.
