Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the understanding and capacity of new members of the KSP Kopdit Sartika Ende through cooperative education based on an analysis of the factual social life of the Ende community and household financial management. The activity was conducted at the Flores Mandiri Cooperative Center (Puskopdit Flores Mandiri) in Paupire Village, Central Ende District, Ende Regency, targeting new members. The implementation method included material delivery, participatory discussions, and simple mentoring related to household financial planning and the responsible use of cooperative services. The activity material, in the form of member education modules, was tailored to the socioeconomic conditions and lifestyle characteristics of the local community. Results of the activity demonstrated an increased understanding of cooperative principles among members, the importance of planned household financial management, and an awareness of the link between social practices and economic obligations as members and the institutional sustainability of KSP Kopdit Sartika Ende. The average participant satisfaction rating was 4.48 (very satisfied). This indicates that this activity provides short-term benefits and has the potential to encourage sustainable changes in economic behavior.

Abstract

Coastal areas in northern Java are experiencing tidal flooding due to a combination of land subsidence, sea level rise, and climate change. This situation has a direct impact on the community's limited access to fresh water for domestic needs. The availability of seawater in the surrounding area can be utilized as an alternative source of clean water. An alternative that can applied to address this problem is distillation technology as an appropriate technology for processing seawater into fresh water. Distillation technology is relatively simple, does not require complex systems, and can be developed and replicated in various coastal locations. Through this community service activity, training was provided to the community on the working principlesand operation of distillation. The activity results have shown a positive response, showed by increased community understanding and skills in seawater treatment, as well as growing awareness of the importance of utilizing technologies.

Abstract

Lung Anai Village, located in the mining buffer zone of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, experiences complex livelihood dynamics due to coal mining activities affecting economic, social, and environmental dimensions. This condition highlights the need for a development approach that emphasizes sustainable livelihoods beyond economic growth. This community service program aims to strengthen community capacity using the Sustainable Livelihood Approach (SLA). A participatory, community-based method was applied through three stages: initial assessment, program implementation, and evaluation. The results show that social, physical, and financial capital are relatively strong, while human and natural capital remain lower, indicating structural imbalance. Community perception improved significantly from 37% positive responses in 2023 to 100% in 2024, reflecting increased trust. The Social License to Operate (SLO) index reached 77.2%, indicating strong social acceptance. The program enhanced participation, strengthened institutions, improved economic access, and promoted sustainable livelihoods. The SLA approach proved effective and replicable for empowering mining-affected rural communities.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health issue in Banten Province. Low knowledge among adolescents increases transmission risks in schools and households. This community service aims to improve DHF knowledge among students at SMK Kesehatan Siere Cendikia Tangerang through school-based health education. The methods included interactive lectures, discussions, and NS1 antigen testing demonstrations for 38 students on May 31, 2024. Evaluation results showed a significant 28% increase in average knowledge, rising from 53% in the pre-test to 81% in the post-test. The most notable improvement occurred in understanding clinical phases and preventive measures. This activity effectively enhanced students' health literacy. Combining education with laboratory demonstrations potentially fosters preventive behavior and empowers students as agents of change in community DHF control.

Abstract

Kanker is one of the leading causes of death in Indonesia. The three most common types of Kanker are prostate Kanker, cervical Kanker, and breast Kanker. Lack of public knowledge about symptoms, prevention, and early detection is one factor in the increasing number of deaths from Kanker. The purpose of this Community Service is to increase insight into Kanker, raise awareness of the dangers of Kanker, and anticipate the possibility of developing Kanker early. The method used is counseling. The results of the pretest and posttest percentages showed that adult knowledge before the counseling was 71% and after the counseling was 98%. Therefore, it can be said that there was a 26% increase after the counseling. The results obtained are increased knowledge, insight, awareness, and early anticipation of Kanker. As a form of concern for the health of the congregation, it is necessary to carry out health counseling activities regarding prostate, cervical, and breast Kanker in the HKBP Church environment. The PKM activity is a collaboration between lecturers from STIKes PGI Cikini and the HKBP Pejuang Resort Palmarum Bekasi church, which synergizes in improving the health status of the community through promotive and preventive efforts.

Abstract

Community Service (PKM) is one of the Tridharma of Higher Education that must be implemented by lecturers. Lecturers should be sensitive to the problems that exist around them, especially educational issues. The findings obtained were the difficulty of teaching addition and subtraction, so the PKM team held training on making and using whole number rulers to help teachers explain the concept of addition and subtraction of integers. The goal of PKM is to teach elementary school teachers in Malind District to create media that facilitate teaching integers. The method used is training. Data collection uses documentation and interviews. 3 teachers were selected to represent the 8 participating schools. The results of the interviews showed that the training activity on making and using whole number rulers is useful for teachers in using media when explaining mathematical concepts, raising teachers' enthusiasm for teaching using media so that students are enthusiastic about participating in learning, the need for prizes during mathematics learning so that students are more active and enthusiastic. Abstract

Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) serves as a strategic medium for introducing the Indonesian language and culture to the international community while supporting the internationalization of the Indonesian language. One of the major challenges in BIPA instruction is the availability of contextual teaching materials that accommodate learners' cultural backgrounds. To address this issue, a training and mentoring program on the development of culture-based BIPA teaching materials integrating Thai and Indonesian cultures was conducted for students and instructors at Thammasat University, Thailand. The program employed a hybrid learning model consisting of six months of online mentoring followed by a seven-day face-to-face workshop. The methods included lectures, group discussions, workshops, hands-on material development, intensive mentoring, presentations, and evaluation. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants' understanding and skills in developing culture-based BIPA teaching materials. The primary output of the program was a textbook entitled Mari Belajar Bahasa Indonesia: Buku Ajar BIPA Tingkat Dasar Berbasis Budaya Thailand dan Indonesia, which presents fundamental Indonesian language materials within the cultural contexts of both countries. The textbook was designed to support contextual, communicative, and intercultural BIPA learning for beginner-level learners. Furthermore, the program strengthened the academic partnership between Universitas Sebelas Maret and Thammasat University as an implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through international collaboration in educational development and language diplomacy. Therefore, the program contributes to improving the quality of BIPA instruction, strengthening international academic cooperation, and promoting the Indonesian language and culture at the global level.

Abstract

Breast cancer has the highest incidence among women in Indonesia and remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality, especially in rural areas with limited health education and low awareness of early detection. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge and skills of Breast Self-Examination (BSE) in Bentakan Village, Sukoharjo. The program involved 26 women of reproductive age and health cadres through education, interactive discussion, and hands-on practice using breast models. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test with knowledge categorization and paired sample t-test analysis. The results showed a shift in knowledge distribution, where poor knowledge decreased from 61.5% to 0% and good knowledge increased from 0% to 69.2%. Paired sample t-test analysis confirmed a significant increase in knowledge (p < 0.001). This program effectively improved community awareness and skills in early breast cancer detection.

Abstract

UMKM are recognized as a sector capable of surviving various crises; however, they still face challenges in marketing, capital, and human resources. This community service activity aims to enhance the business capacity of Mawar Frozen Food through strengthening both production and marketing aspects. The method employed was a participatory approach consisting of observation, discussion, label design training using the Canva application, and the provision of a freezer. This approach was selected to ensure the active involvement of partners in every stage of the activity, so that the solutions provided are aligned with their actual needs. Evaluation was conducted using a before-after approach through observation, interviews, and comparison of sales data. The results indicate an increase in product storage capacity by 50% and a rise in weekly turnover from IDR 500,000 to IDR 720,000 (an increase of 44%). In addition, partners demonstrated improved skills in designing more informative and attractive product labels. Improvements in the visual aspects of the products also contributed to increased consumer trust and competitiveness in the local market. This activity has proven effective in enhancing the competitiveness and welfare of UMKM partners, as well as encouraging sustainable economic participation within the surrounding community.

Abstract

The strengthening of Islamic academic culture was required so that quality in Islamic higher education was not only based on administrative targets but also on the institutional internalization of Islamic values. This community service program was conducted to improve the understanding of educational staff regarding Islamic academic culture based on transformational leadership at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. A participatory method was applied through socialization, discussion, and simple evaluation involving 15 educational staff members. The materials were focused on transformational leadership, Islamic academic culture, trustworthiness, service integrity, and academic quality. The evaluation showed that participants’ understanding increased from a pre-test score of 49.5 to a post-test score of 75.5, representing a 52.5% improvement. The highest increase was found in understanding the relationship between work culture and academic quality at 57.8%. Feedback showed that 86.7% found the material understandable, 93.3% were ready to apply trustworthiness and integrity, and 86.7% supported follow-up activities.
