Abstract

This community service program was initiated in response to the limited capacity of painters in Jelekong Village to address the growing demand of the Muslim market for artworks that reflect Islamic values. The program focused on the application of Islamic decorative motifs as a strategy for product innovation and sales enhancement. The objective of this program was to improve the painters’ skills in incorporating Islamic decorative motifs into their artworks while expanding market segmentation. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through the KUPAR stages (to know, to understand, to plan, to action, and to reflection), implemented through training, mentoring, and evaluation involving 20 painters in Jelekong Village. The results revealed that 90% of participants were able to apply Islamic motifs, including calligraphic, geometric, and floral designs, in their paintings; 80% of participants began utilizing social media as a marketing tool; and 60% successfully developed new products in the form of paintings based on Islamic decorative arts. The program contributed to the enhancement of participants’ skills, product diversification, market expansion, and the strengthening of painters’ competitiveness within a creative economy framework rooted in cultural traditions and Islamic values.

Abstract

The era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) demands educators to transform from conventional teaching practices toward adaptive, technology-based smart classrooms. This community service activity aims to enhance the digital competence of teachers and lecturers in utilizing generative AI tools to design innovative and contextual learning media. The workshop was conducted online via Zoom, involving 24 educators from various educational institutions across Indonesia. The training covered three main platforms: Google Gemini for effective prompt engineering, NotebookLM for AI-based learning material management and synthesis, and the Magic Layer feature in Canva for interactive visual media development. The implementation method consisted of three stages: needs-based planning, an intensive 8-hour workshop, and evaluation and reflection using a satisfaction questionnaire. Evaluation results indicated very high participant satisfaction across all indicators, ranging from 89% to 96%, with acquisition of new knowledge scoring the highest (96%). Participants demonstrated significant improvement in technical, pedagogical, and collaborative dimensions, and exhibited a role shift from passive technology consumers to active creators of AI-based educational content. This activity proves that a practical, guided, and project-based workshop approach is effective in sustainably developing educators' digital competence in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve the competencies of E-Commerce lecturers affiliated with APBISDI Region 8-9 through MSME-friendly webcommerce training. This activity is motivated by the technical competency gap among academics in teaching practical and affordable webcommerce platforms for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The method used is Training of Trainers (ToT) with an andragogical approach, comprising conceptual presentations, participatory workshops, and live demonstrations of building a Blogger-based digital store. The program was conducted online on May 14, 2026, involving 48 lecturers from 25 higher education institutions across Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Eastern Indonesia. Evaluation results showed a significant competency increase, with 87.5% of participants (42 out of 48) successfully completing the digital store configuration independently, particularly in SEO-friendly catalog management and digital payment integration via bank transfer and QRIS. All participants (100%) also demonstrated readiness to integrate this knowledge into project-based Semester Learning Plans (RPS). The Training of Trainers approach is recommended as a science and technology dissemination model to create a multiplier effect in accelerating digital transformation and MSME economic independence across regions.

Abstract

The increasing elderly population necessitates the strengthening of empowerment programs that support the development of active, healthy, and independent older adults. However, the Sekolah Lansia Mandiri (Independent Elderly School) still faces limitations in learning guidelines and facilitator capacity to achieve Standard 3. Therefore, this community service program aimed to integrate the SELANTANG Standard 3 concept through the development of a learning guidebook and the enhancement of the capacities of cadres and facilitators to promote older adults as Elderly Ambassadors (Duta Lansia). The method employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), consisting of needs assessment, curriculum development and preparation of the SELANTANG Standard 3 Book, mentoring of cadres and facilitators, learning implementation, and collaborative evaluation and reflection. The program involved approximately 70 participants, including older adults, Bina Keluarga Lansia (BKL) cadres, facilitators, and relevant stakeholders. Meanwhile, the effectiveness evaluation was conducted on 20 participants who completed the entire mentoring program. The results demonstrated that the SELANTANG Standard 3 Book was successfully developed and implemented as a learning guide to support the establishment of Elderly Ambassadors. Evaluation findings indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding, as reflected by an increase in the mean score from 42.5 in the pretest to 80.5 in the posttest, representing a gain of 38 points. The Paired Sample t-Test analysis revealed a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05). In addition, the mentoring program enhanced the readiness of cadres and facilitators to manage learning activities in a more structured, participatory, and sustainable manner. These findings suggest that the SELANTANG Standard 3 Book has the potential to serve as an effective learning guide in strengthening the capacity of Sekolah Lansia Mandiri and supporting the development of Elderly Ambassadors in Medan City.

Abstract

Adolescents from Indonesian migrant worker families living in Malaysia face complex psychosocial challenges, including academic pressure, migrant family dynamics, and cross-cultural adaptation processes that may increase the risk of stress and emotional regulation difficulties. Limited access to psychological services in Indonesian schools abroad makes community-based preventive intervention an urgent need. This article aims to describe and analyze the implementation of a culturally sensitive adolescent psychology psychoeducation program as part of a Community Service activity at the Indonesian School of Kota Kinabalu (SIKK), Malaysia. The program involved 20 students, consisting of 12 male and 8 female students, who were assigned by the school to participate based on schedule availability and relevance to the program objectives. The program used a participatory-educational approach with qualitative evaluation through participatory observation, reflective group discussion, participant feedback, and structured field notes. Because the activity did not include quantitative pre-test and post-test scoring, the evaluation focused on qualitative evidence from observed learning processes and participant reflections. The qualitative evaluation showed that participants actively engaged in discussions, recognized adolescent developmental changes, identified psychosocial challenges related to migrant family life, practiced stress-management and emotion-regulation strategies, and demonstrated assertive communication during role-play activities. Participant feedback also indicated that the program was relevant to their daily experiences and helped strengthen self-awareness and confidence in managing psychological challenges. The program offers a contextual school-based psychoeducation model to support the psychosocial well-being of Indonesian migrant adolescents.

Abstract

The low frequency of publication of articles in reputable international journals by lecturers in the Economics Education Study Program at Universitas Patompo, Makassar, is due to their limited ability to transform research findings into manuscripts that meet the standards of reputable international journals. The Community Service Program aims to increase the volume of lecturers' articles in reputable international journals to accelerate advancement to functional positions. Furthermore, this can improve the institution's reputation both nationally and internationally. The training results showed an increase in the proportion of 17 participants after the training or post-test assessment, which covered elements of understanding leading international journals, manuscript writing skills, and the publication process and language, with an average of 78.42%, compared to the pre-test average of only 56.85%. Accelerating publication in leading international journals can be achieved through institutional support, which includes funding incentives, writing support (article clinics), international research collaborations, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase research productivity.

Abstract

Limited historical literacy and social awareness remain challenges in strengthening students' character education, particularly in areas with complex social dynamics. This community service program aimed to enhance students' historical literacy and social awareness through local conflict-based learning at SMA Negeri 4 East Halmahera Regency. Local conflict was utilized as a contextual learning resource that promotes tolerance, peace, solidarity, and peaceful conflict resolution. The program employed an educational-participatory approach, including socialization, discussions, case studies, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), student worksheets, reflection, and evaluation. The results showed a significant improvement in students' understanding of the causes and impacts of local conflicts, increasing from 34.3% before the program to 88.6% afterward. Students also demonstrated stronger historical thinking skills, greater social empathy, and increased awareness of unity, dialogue, and tolerance in a multicultural society. These findings indicate that local conflict can serve as an effective contextual and reflective learning resource for strengthening historical literacy and character education.
