Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of self-efficacy and social support on the career maturity of vocational students at SMKN 3 Boyolangu. Self-efficacy plays an important role in helping students make career decisions and face various challenges. This study used multiple linear regression analysis methods with a sample of 86 students from the Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering Expertise Program as samples, with multiple linear regression analysis methods. The results showed that self-efficacy contributed 23.4% to career maturity, while social support contributed 35%. Simultaneously, the two variables contributed 24.4% to students' career maturity. This study highlights the importance of self-efficacy and social support in supporting vocational students' career maturity. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengaruh keyakinan diri (self-efficacy) dan dukungan sosial terhadap kematangan karir siswa SMK di SMKN 3 Boyolangu. Self-efficacy berperan penting dalam membantu siswa membuat keputusan karir serta menghadapi berbagai tantangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis regresi linier berganda dengan sampel 86 siswa dari Program Keahlian Teknik Kendaraan Ringan Otomotif sebagai sampel, dengan metode analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-efficacy memberikan kontribusi sebesar 23,4% terhadap kematangan karir, sedangkan dukungan sosial memberikan kontribusi sebesar 35%. Secara simultan, kedua variabel memberikan kontribusi sebesar 24,4% terhadap kematangan karir siswa. Penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya self-efficacy dan dukungan sosial dalam mendukung kematangan karir siswa SMK.

Abstract

The number of motorized vehicles in Indonesia is increasing. Therefore, alternative fuels are needed to meet the needs. One of them is LPG (liquified petroleum gas). However, in its application, the engine temperature becomes hotter, making it less efficient, and specific fuel consumption is not optimal. The Water Injection System is one of the additional technologies that can be used to reduce engine heat. This study will compare the results of specific fuel consumption and engine wall temperature with adding a water injection system on a 100cc engine. The data collection results on specific fuel consumption at 3000 RPM without water injection showed the highest figure at 0.0410 (kg/HP.hour), with the addition of a water injection system, it produced 0.0405 (kg/HP.hour). The average engine working temperature without a water injection system was 90.3 0C while adding a water injection system showed 87.8 0C. Jumlah kendaraan bermotor di Indonesia semakin meningkat. Untuk itu diperlukan bahan bakar alternatif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan. Salah satunya adalah LPG (liquified petroleum gas). Namun pada aplikasinya, temperatur mesin menjadi lebih panas, sehingga kurang efisien dan konsumsi bahan bakar spesifiknya tidak optimal. Water injection System adalah salah satu teknologi tambahan yang dapat digunakan untuk mengurangi panas mesin. Penelitian ini akan membandingkan hasil specific fuel consumption dan temperatur dinding mesin dengan penambahan water injectiontion system pada mesin 100cc. Hasil pengambilan data specific fuel consumption pada 3000 RPM tanpa water injection menunjukkan angka tertinggi di 0,0410 (kg/HP.jam) dan dengan penambahan water injection system menghasilkan 0,0405 (kg/HP.jam). Temperatur kerja mesin rata rata tanpa water injection system menunjukkan 90,3 0C sedangkan ketika menambahkan water injection system menunjukkan 87,8 0C.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of asynchronous learning methods on the understanding of material in aerodynamics courses. Asynchronous methods provide flexibility of time and place for students to access learning materials, which include videos, digital modules, and online discussion forums. Data was collected through a questionnaire to measure students' understanding of concepts and satisfaction levels. Students reported high levels of satisfaction related to the flexibility and accessibility of learning. This study concludes that asynchronous methods can be an effective alternative for aerodynamics learning, especially in supporting independent learning and improving students' cognitive skills. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penerapan metode pembelajaran asinkronus terhadap pemahaman materi pada mata kuliah aerodinamika. Metode asinkronus memberikan fleksibilitas waktu dan tempat bagi Mahasiswa untuk mengakses materi pembelajaran, yang mencakup video, modul digital, dan forum diskusi online. Data dikumpulkan melalui Kuesioner untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep dan tingkat kepuasan Mahasiswa. Mahasiswa melaporkan tingkat kepuasan yang tinggi terkait fleksibilitas dan aksesibilitas pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode asinkronus dapat menjadi alternatif efektif untuk pembelajaran aerodinamika, khususnya dalam mendukung pembelajaran mandiri dan peningkatan keterampilan kognitif Mahasiswa.

Abstract

The rising temperature of vehicles in parking lots under the sun is a major cause of poisoning caused by harmful gases in the blood, and the most toxic gas is ammonia (NH3). Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia gas can cause lung damage and death. This research aims to design and build an Internet of Things (IoT)-based vehicle temperature monitoring system using the DHT11 sensor. The DHT11 sensor is able to detect temperature and humidity in real-time with a sufficient level of accuracy, one of the main objectives in the acquisition of temperature data in the vehicle cabin is to improve passenger comfort. Temperatures that are too high or too low can reduce ride comfort. One of the main objectives in the acquisition of temperature data in the vehicle cabin is to improve passenger comfort. By monitoring and controlling the temperature in the cabin in real-time, the cooling (air conditioning) and heating systems can function more efficiently to maintain the optimal temperature.

Abstract

Occupational safety is a critical concern in automotive workshop environments due to the high-risk nature of tasks such as engine repair, welding, and electrical diagnostics. This study investigates automotive workshop risks at the Mitsubishi DIPO Workshop in Bukittinggi by identifying hazards, assessing risk levels, and formulating workplace accident prevention strategies. The HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control) method was applied to evaluate 28 potential hazards, two of which were classified as extreme risks. Further analysis of these risks was conducted using the Fishbone Diagram to identify root causes across six contributing factors: human, machine, material, method, environment, and management. Based on these findings, targeted risk control measures were developed following the hierarchy of control, including engineering interventions, administrative policies, and personal protective equipment. This research demonstrates how integrated methods such as HIRARC and Fishbone Diagram can support comprehensive occupational safety planning and risk mitigation in automotive workshops.

Abstract

The advancement of automotive technology in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era requires vocational education graduates to possess updated competencies aligned with industry standards. This study investigates the gap between the competencies of students in the Automotive Engineering Education Program at Universitas Negeri Medan and the needs of the automotive industry. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, involving interviews, observations, and document analysis with stakeholders from academia and industry. The findings reveal a significant misalignment, particularly in digital automotive systems, computer-based diagnostics, and soft skills such as communication and problem-solving. The study highlights the need for curriculum revision, integration of industry-based learning practices, and enhanced collaboration between educational institutions and industry partners to ensure graduate readiness in meeting modern automotive demands.

Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing students’ interest in pursuing industrial careers within the Vocational Education and Automotive Technology Program at Universitas Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru. Using a quantitative approach and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), data were collected from 74 students across three academic levels. The analysis identified two dominant dimensions: external factors (job opportunities, parental support, industry collaboration) and internal factors (personal interest, technological proficiency, practical experience), which together explained 77.135% of the variance. Variables such as industrial prestige and work environment were excluded due to low significance. The findings emphasize that industrial career interest is shaped by both institutional support and individual readiness. These results provide valuable insights for enhancing vocational education strategies through better stakeholder collaboration and targeted curriculum development.

Abstract

This study investigates the mechanical performance of coconut coir fiber-reinforced composites with volume fractions of 30% and 40%, fabricated using the Manual Hand Lay-Up method. Specimens were tested under three-point bending following ASTM D790-03 to evaluate flexural strength. Results show that composites with a 30% fiber volume exhibit superior bending strength and stiffness compared to those with 40%, indicating a more optimal fiber–matrix ratio. The reduction in performance at higher fiber content is attributed to uneven resin distribution and inadequate fiber impregnation. These findings highlight the potential of coconut coir as a sustainable reinforcement material and emphasize the importance of optimizing fiber volume and manufacturing methods. The study recommends the use of alternative fabrication techniques, such as vacuum infusion, to improve resin homogeneity and mechanical reliability, particularly for structural and lightweight composite applications.

Abstract

Low creative thinking skills in automotive engineering learning can limit students’ ability to generate, adapt, and elaborate technical solutions. This study described the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and examined changes in students’ creative thinking skills in the Fundamentals of Automotive Engineering course. A Classroom Action Research design was used with 21 Automotive Engineering students and conducted in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected using observation sheets on creative thinking indicators and analyzed descriptively based on creativity categories. In the pre-cycle condition, most students were classified as fairly creative (52.38%), while only 4.76% were very creative. After PBL implementation in Cycle II, the creative category increased to 47.62% and the very creative category increased to 28.57%, while the least creative category decreased to 0%. These findings suggest that PBL can support the development of students’ creative thinking in automotive engineering learning.

Abstract

Low student engagement and modest Computer-Aided Design (CAD) learning outcomes remain challenges in automotive engineering education. This study examined the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to support student engagement and CAD learning achievement in an Automotive Engineering course. A Classroom Action Research design was conducted in two cycles comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 25 Automotive Engineering students in the 2025/2026 even semester. Data were collected through observation, pre-test, post-test, and documentation, and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that learning mastery increased from 72% in Cycle I to 88% in Cycle II, while the average score increased from 70.04 to 78.48. Classroom observations also indicated more active participation in discussion, problem-solving, group work, and presentations. These findings suggest that PBL can support CAD learning achievement and student engagement in this classroom action context.
