Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effectiveness of a goal-oriented approach in private music education, particularly in mastering keyboard, piano, and drum instruments. The research focuses on how structured learning objectives influence students motivation, engagement, and technical proficiency.Method – This qualitative study employs a case study methodology, incorporating in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. Four students from different age groups participated in private music lessons at their homes, following a customized curriculum tailored to their individual learning needs. Findings – The results indicate that a goal-oriented learning approach significantly enhances students' understanding of basic notation, instrumental techniques, and overall motivation. In keyboard lessons, students demonstrated improved finger positioning and notation reading skills. Piano students mastered chord inversions and harmonic applications, while drum students gained proficiency in reading and executing rhythmic notations. Despite its effectiveness, the approach may limit creativity if it excessively prioritizes structured objectives over exploratory learning. Research Implications – This study highlights the importance of structured learning in private music education while acknowledging its potential constraints. Future research should explore ways to balance goal-oriented instruction with creative exploration to optimize learning outcomes.

Abstract

Purpose – Observations revealed that students' low interest in learning, exacerbated by ineffective media, hindered their understanding and retention of material. To address this, an innovative strategy integrating play-based learning through digital snake and ladder media is proposed.Method – This research is included in the type of Research and Development. The procedure for developing snakes and ladders media based on genial uses a development model developed by Sugiyono with ten stages, namely potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, initial trial, product revision, usage trial, product revision, and mass production. Findings – The findings of this study indicate a media expert validation score of 85.93% with a very feasible category, and material experts obtained a score of 90.38% with a very feasible category, from the results of the two validators an average of 88.15% was obtained with a very feasible achievement. The results of the response of grade V teachers of SDN Ngaliyan 05 in the initial trial with subjects of 6 students with an average score of 95.9% with a very feasible category, while the response of students in the trial of use with subjects of 23 students with an average score of 85.43% with a very feasible category. The results of the effectiveness of the snake and ladder media based on genially obtained an average pretest score of 60,43 and a posttest of 82.39 with an n-gain test result of 0.55 with a moderate category. Research Implications – The limited time available in the learning process often becomes an obstacle in achieving in-depth understanding, causing this research to only cover a small part of the topic that should be studied so that the results obtained do not fully describe a comprehensive picture of the phenomenon being studied.

Abstract

Purpose – Various empirical findings suggest that gifted students possess distinct traits, including heightened overexcitability. Overexcitability is associated with both positive potential and psychological conflicts, one of which is poor social relationship quality. However, only a few studies have confirmed the relationship between overexcitability and poor social relationships. This study was conducted to examine whether overexcitability affects the quality of friendship.Method – The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A total of 111 elementary, middle, and high school students participated, consisting of 23 identified gifted students, 38 students with superior intelligence, and 50 students with average intelligence. Overexcitability was measured using the Overexcitability Questionnaire II (OEQ-II), while friendship quality was measured using the Friendship Network Satisfaction Scale. The data obtained was analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression techniques, and one-way ANOVA. Findings – The results showed a significant effect of overexcitability on friendship quality (R Square = .210, sig. < .001). The difference test results revealed a significant difference (sig. = .005) in friendship quality among the gifted (m = 58.217), superior (m = 69.631), and average (67.180) intelligence groups. Gifted students were found to have lower friendship quality compared to the other groups (sig. = 0.05). Research Implications – These findings indicate the need for the implementation of psychoeducational programs to improve social skills for gifted students. Gifted students who have intellectual and imaginational overexcitability need to receive more guidance in improving their social interaction skills.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the role of father involvement in child-rearing and the application of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques in enhancing communication, as well as supporting the emotional, social, and cognitive development of children. This study aims to understand how NLP techniques can help children build self-confidence, manage emotions, and encourage more effective father involvement in parenting.Method – This study uses a literature review method, which examines 12 relevant studies and literature published between 2010 and 2023. The data is analyzed through content analysis to gather insights on the role of NLP in father-child interactions and child development. Findings – The involvement of fathers in child-rearing is crucial for the emotional, social, and cognitive development of children. The application of NLP techniques, such as anchoring, reframing, and rapport building, enhances communication between fathers and children. These techniques help children manage their emotions, build self-confidence, and view challenges as opportunities for growth. For example, anchoring supports children in creating positive emotional states, while reframing allows them to see challenges more constructively. Research Implications – This research is based on a literature review and does not explore the direct application of NLP in various family contexts. Furthermore, it is important to recognize that child development is influenced by numerous factors beyond NLP, such as socio-economic conditions and culture. This study's limitation lies in its methodological focus on literature without empirical validation through direct father-child experiences. Further research is needed to explore how NLP techniques can be practically applied in diverse family settings and their long-term effects on child development.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines single-parenting styles in shaping religious and moral values in children aged 4-5 years in Simpang Agung Village. Understanding these patterns helps determine their impact on children’s moral and religious development.Method – A qualitative case study approach was used, involving six single parent as primary subjects and their children as secondary informants. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed through four stages: collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Techniques and time triangulation ensure data validity and consistency in parenting. Findings – The study identified three parenting styles: authoritarian (33%), permissive (17%), and democratic (50%). Authoritarian parenting enforces strict rules, leading to obedience based on fear rather than understanding. Permissive parenting grants excessive freedom, resulting in low discipline and lack of moral awareness. Democratic parenting balances discipline and independence, engaging children in discussions and modeling moral behavior. Among the styles, democratic parenting proved most effective in fostering moral and religious values. Children raised with this approach show stronger moral reasoning and a deeper understanding of religious teachings. Research Implications – This study enriches theories on parenting and children's religious and moral development. Practically, it helps single parents adopt effective parenting styles. Policymakers can use these findings for parenting programs. However, limitations include a small sample, short-term focus, and limited cultural analysis. Future research should involve more subjects, assess long-term effects, and explore cultural influences for deeper insights.
