Abstract

Purpose - This research aims to find out how the actualization of the Al-Hadith education method in Islamic religious education subjects shapes student character at SMPN 3 Pleret. Method - This research is descriptive qualitative research with observation and interview data collection techniques. The data that has been collected is then analyzed by reducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusions. Findings - The research shows that the application of the Al-Hadith education method is carried out by the exemplary method, gentle method, deductive method, parable method, question and answer method, repetition method, demonstration method, experimental method, problem-solving method, discussion method, and praise/give joy method. The implications of applying the Al-Hadith education method include an open attitude to different views, the ability to respect others, and the strengthening of personal relationships between educators and students. In addition, learners are also more actively involved in religious activities and other activities in the community. The application of this method is hampered by the lack of Islamic religious education teacher resources, the lack of enforcement of school rules, and the weak control of parents and the community.Research Implications - This research recommends that the school, parents, and community strengthen their cooperation regarding the development of students' character education. This research is limited by descriptive analysis and limited data sources that only involve the school. Therefore, further research is needed to look at a broader perspective. In this case, the perspective of the community and parents.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to prove whether students’ writing creativity can be increased by implementing the plot of the Black Adam movie based on Propp’s morphology structure as scaffolding in making a narrative story. This study was conducted because students feel the necessity and lack self-motivation to create their own story. Methods – This research was quantitative with an experimental design. The data collected from the pre-test and post-test results were then analyzed by quantitative analysis through SPSS 25. The sample for this research was 25 students of English education in the first Semester, at the University of Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya. There were two kinds of instruments for this data, such as tests (pre-test and post-test) and questionnaires. The questionnaire was collected by diagram through a Google form.Findings – The result of this study showed students’ writing creativity increased by using the Vladimir Propp structure in making fairy tale stories, with p = 0.00 > 0.05. This suggests that the implementation of the Black Adam movie’s plot in creative writing based on Propp’s Morphology of Fairytale improved students’ writing ability in making narratives and helped students learn more easily. Research Implications – This research is limited by a small sample, a short duration, and a single-group design. Generalizing findings is challenging, and future research should consider larger and more diverse samples, extended study durations, and diverse pedagogical approaches for a comprehensive understanding of effective creative writing instruction.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of the research is to provide an overview to educators regarding the practice of implementing direct interactive learning strategies, in which errors considered common often occur. In this case, they are not believed to be mistakes, whereas they are not implemented by the theory, such as the absence of implementation of clarification in the learning process. Methods – This research is qualitative type. Therefore, the data is collected by observation. Observations were carried out in the classrooms of students of the 5th semester Islamic Religious Education study program at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta. The data analysis used is the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of steps for data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Findings – The results of this research indicate that the implementation of interactive learning strategies in the classroom contains a sequence of steps by theory, commencing with goals and establishing a set, explanation or demonstration of knowledge, guided practice, checking understanding and providing feedback, as well as extended practice and expanding transfers. Nonetheless, the two steps are combined into one by the educator who implements them.Research Implications – This research is limited to the application of interactive direct learning strategies. In this case, the obstacle in this strategy is the difficulty in generalizing several steps in the learning strategy since there are steps combined into one. The researcher hopes that this research can be a guide for educators in implementing interactive direct learning strategies in the classroom.

Abstract

Purpose – The constructivist learning theories of Vygotsky and Bruner highlight the effectiveness of learning through interaction, collaboration, and cognitive apprenticeship. Both theorists design instructional strategies that prioritize students' cognitive development, fostering creativity, deep understanding, and meaningful learning. While contributing significantly to education, the application of constructivism has its advantages and disadvantages. This research will discuss the principles and concepts of constructivism according to Vygotsky and Bruner, as well as analyze its strengths and weaknesses in classroom learning.Methods – This research employs the literature review method, commonly known as a literature study. In this literature review, the researcher will analyze theories related to the existing materials. The data analysis technique used is thematic analysis, examining key ideas and organizing them into themes and the focus of the research.Findings – The results of this research found two important concepts in Vygotsky's theory, namely the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and scaffolding. Then the discovery learning theory discovered by Bruner is understanding concepts, meanings, and relationships through an intuitive process to finally arrive at a conclusion called discovery learning. Bruner considers that discovery learning corresponds to the active search for knowledge by the learner and provides the best results. Trying to find solutions to problems produces knowledge that is truly meaningful as learning, especially for students. Research Implications – The results of this study show that implementing constructivism requires sufficient time and resources while evaluating student progress can be a difficult task. There have also been criticisms of the ZPD concept that it may have limitations in encompassing the individual diversity of students. In implementation, some teachers may experience difficulties in adopting constructivist principles without adequate training or support.

Abstract

Purpose – This research aims to reveal the significance of one of the scientific theories, namely Newtonian mechanics, which is viewed from the philosophical-axiological aspect of student character education in the context of the reintegration of science and religion. So, a test was carried out on MTs Darul Fikri students in building a character education environment at school.Methods – This research design uses discussion group methods, interviews, observation, and documentation as instruments for researchers to collect data in the field. The research method was carried out using a descriptive-qualitative approach to obtain information regarding learning in schools, curriculum, approaches, strategies, methods, and learning models used, as well as data regarding the cognitive and affective aspects of students in the field.Findings – The research findings show that scientific concepts such as Newtonian mechanics can be integrated with religious values in the context of student character education. These findings support the idea that integration between science and religion can have a positive impact on the formation of students' character.Research Implications – The implication is that character education that includes moral values and the usefulness of science can be instilled through scientific concepts such as Newtonian mechanics. The limitations of this research are that there has been no concrete implementation of the integration of science and religion in the character education curriculum, and there has been no development of learning methods that effectively combine scientific concepts and religious values.

Abstract

Purpose - This research examines the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMK Negeri 9 Makassar, focusing on planning, organization, execution, and supervision. Using a qualitative approach, data was gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation. Method - The study employs a qualitative and phenomenological method, involving interviews with school leaders, curriculum coordinators, the head of the Fisheries Processing Agribusiness Department, and two teachers. Additionally, observations and document analysis were conducted, and data management followed three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings - The results indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum planning achieved independence within a year but requires improvement, particularly in school operational plans (KOSP), competency aspects, teaching modules, project-based learning (PJBL) implementation, and P5 projects. Organizing the Merdeka Curriculum using a block approach has been initiated, but subject allocation needs improvement due to a shortage of teaching staff. The implementation offers flexibility in inclusive learning by involving students in projects. Supervision through monitoring and evaluation requires further actions to align with learning objectives.Research Implications - This research discusses limitations in design or methodology influencing result interpretation, addressing constraints on generalizability, practical applications, and the utility of findings. The study emphasizes limitations directly related to research problems, highlighting the need for understanding P5 projects, KOSP development, widespread distribution of teaching modules across departments, and addressing teaching staff shortages. Recommendations include educators designing optimal learning programs and student projects.

Abstract

Purpose - Based on the results of observations at SD Negeri 22 Dangin Puri through interviews with several teachers at the nearest elementary school, namely SD Negeri 29 Dangin Puri on October 23, 2023. Various problems faced by grade 2 teachers in learning were found. One of them is the lack of ability to make sentences for class 2 students. This results in low student learning outcomes in writing sentences in Indonesian language subjects. The results of interviews with teachers stated that teachers had never used digital teaching aids in learning to write Indonesian in grade 2. This research aims to develop digital flashcard learning media to improve Indonesian writing learning outcomes for grade 2 elementary school students. Method - This research uses research development (R&D) or development research and uses the Borg and Gall model which consists of 10 stages. This learning media was validated by 4 experts, namely 2 media experts and 2 material experts. This research involved 60 students as research subjects.Findings - The result is that this learning media is very valid, with a validity coefficient of 1. Practicality and effectiveness tests were carried out in field tests. The results of the practicality test show that digital flashcard media is categorized as very practical, both from the teacher and student sides. The results of the effectiveness test show that digital flashcard media is categorized as effective, with an N-Gain of 0.8.Research Implications - The media developed is visual media, namely images displayed on slides designed according to students' material needs. The images are colorful and attractive to students. The media developed in the form of digital flashcards is suitable for use as learning media in elementary schools because this learning media is very valid. The media developed in the form of digital flashcards are suitable for use as learning media in elementary schools because they help students understand the material and help teachers convey the material. In developing learning media, it is based on student needs.

Abstract

Purpose – The very rapid development of science and technology has an impact on every part of life, including the world of education. Using online whiteboard applications and interactive Google Jamboard can train children to write, draw, and color in Early Childhood Education classes. This research aims to determine the influence of motivation and use of online whiteboard applications and jamboard applications on the motoric development of PAUD children.Method – This research used a quasi-experiment with a nonrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. The samples taken were 14 PAUD children at the YPJ Tembagapura school and 14 PAUD children at the YPJ Kuala Kencana school, Mimika Regency. Data collection used observation techniques and questionnaires with a Likert scale.Findings – Based on the results of the Friedman Test, there is an influence of motivation and learning with online whiteboard applications on the motoric development of PAUD children. Based on the results of the Friedman Test, there is an influence of motivation and learning with the Google Jamboard application on the motoric development of PAUD children. Based on the results of the Paired Samples t-Test, there is a significant difference in motivation and learning between the Google Jamboard application and the online whiteboard application on the motoric development of PAUD children in Mimika Regency. Research Implications – The study's generalizability is constrained by the small sample size of 28 PAUD children from specific schools in Mimika Regency, potentially limiting the applicability of findings to a broader population or diverse educational settings.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the implementation and effectiveness of the eclectic method in learning Mahfuzhot in Class VIIIB of MTs Islam Ngruki. The main focus is on improving the understanding and learning outcomes of Mahfuzhot, as well as identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the method.Method – An exploratory and descriptive naturalistic qualitative research was conducted, using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The Miles and Huberman method was used for data analysis, including data reduction, presentation in the form of graphs/charts, and conclusion. Triangulation of sources and methods was applied to ensure the reliability and validity of data.Findings – The integration of qawaid tarjamah, mubasyar, and sam’iyyah syafahiyyah methods resulted in improved material understanding. Despite constraints in learning time and student readiness, an increase in lesson absorption from 50% to 57% was recorded. This study reveals the effectiveness of the eclectic method in improving Mahfuzhot's learning outcomes. Research Implications – These findings have important implications in Arabic language teaching practices, highlighting the need for flexibility and creativity in teaching approaches. Time constraints, learning facilities, and student engagement mark the limitations of this study. Further research is recommended to optimize Arabic language teaching strategies, overcome challenges in learning Mahfuzhot, and improve the overall quality of education.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the urgency of the leader's role in change management within the Islamic educational organizational environment, focusing on understanding the dynamics of organizational change, factors influencing resistance to change, and effective strategies for reducing such resistance.Method – Employing a conceptual analysis approach, this research outlines key concepts such as "change management," "the leader's role in Islamic education," and "resistance to change." Data was collected through an extensive literature review, encompassing journal articles, books, and other relevant academic sources to comprehensively understand the research subject.Findings – The findings assert that change management requires a systematic process, involving the application of appropriate knowledge and resources to influence impacted individuals. The leader's role is a key catalyst in motivating and directing organizational members to accept and adapt to change. Additionally, a deep understanding of resistance to change and the development of effective strategies to mitigate it are identified as crucial factors in achieving successful change management in the context of Islamic education. Research Implications – This study has significant implications for improving the quality of education and the sustainability of Islamic educational organizations facing future challenges. However, it is limited by its focus on a conceptual approach without empirical testing, thus further research is needed to test the application of change management theory in actual practice within the Islamic educational environment.
