Abstract

This study explores the application of the Amsilati method to improve the ability of santri (Islamic boarding school students) to read classical Islamic texts (maharah qira'ah) at the Riyadlus Sholihin Islamic Boarding School in Tiris, Probolinggo. The Amsilati method combines theory and practice with examples from the Qur'an to facilitate understanding. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques to collect data. The results indicate that the Amsilati method is effective in improving students' ability to read classical Islamic texts, particularly in terms of fluency and understanding of tajweed. However, challenges include limited teacher resources, limited learning time, and difficulties in consistently applying the method. The implications of this study suggest that the Amsilati method has great potential to improve the quality of education in Islamic boarding schools, particularly in Quranic recitation instruction. This research supports the Islamic education theory proposed by Ahmad Syafii Ma'arif, which emphasizes the integration of theory and practice in teaching to achieve more effective learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the rapid development of artificial intelligence that has transformed the learning process in higher education. The purpose of this study was to examine lecturers' perceptions of the impact of AI use, particularly on student behavior. Based on a qualitative approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, the results of this study found that artificial intelligence has an ambivalent influence. On the one hand, artificial intelligence encourages students to be more independent in accessing information and completing tasks. However, on the other hand, this independence is not always followed by active participation in class discussions, which reduces academic interaction. In addition, concerns have arisen regarding academic ethics, such as plagiarism and low originality of work, as well as excessive dependence on technology that hinders critical thinking skills. In response to this, lecturers feel the need to adjust their roles and teaching strategies to be relevant to the digital era. These findings emphasize the importance of digital literacy and artificial intelligence ethics in higher education, in line with Selwyn and Norman's views on digital learning and technology ethics. Literacy and ethics enable students to use technology wisely.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality management of educators and educational staff at MAN 3 Malang based on performance improvement and sustainable development in the modern era. The main focus of this study is on the implementation of human resource management functions, including planning, development, and assessment, in order to improve the quality of educators' performance. A qualitative approach was used with a case study method, where data was collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that MAN 3 Malang places greater emphasis on improving the quality of educators through training, seminars, workshops, and encouragement to pursue formal education, rather than hiring new staff. The assessment function is carried out in a structured manner by a quality assurance team through academic competency tests, which aim to evaluate the effectiveness of teachers' work and serve as a basis for continuous development. These findings indicate that integrated sustainable development strategies and performance evaluation are key to maintaining educational quality. However, limitations in recruitment may pose a challenge in the long term if not balanced with comprehensive human resource planning.

Abstract

This study aims to explore a model for transforming customary land into productive economic assets through waqf funding and Islamic banking. This approach is expected to create synergy between sharia principles and regional economic development. Using a case study with qualitative methods, the results show that the utilization of customary land through a productive waqf scheme supported by Islamic banking has great potential as a sustainable economic asset. This scheme provides a positive return on investment for indigenous communities, increases household income, and strengthens the regional economy. The main challenges are related to indigenous land regulations and community understanding of the concept of productive waqf. However, collaboration between waqf institutions, Islamic banks, and the government has proven effective in overcoming these obstacles. These findings confirm that transforming customary land with waqf funds and Islamic financing can support the sustainable well-being of indigenous communities, enhance economic self-reliance, and reduce dependence on external aid. More supportive education and regulations are needed for the effective and sustainable implementation of this model.

Abstract

The issue of the halal status of food ingredients, particularly Monosodium Glutamate, has sparked debate among Muslims due to its potential health implications. This study aims to analyze the halal status of Monosodium Glutamate from the perspectives of contemporary Islamic jurisprudence and health. Using a qualitative interdisciplinary approach, this study combines contemporary Islamic jurisprudence and health science to describe the legal status of Monosodium Glutamate and its effects on the body. The results indicate that Monosodium Glutamate can be categorized as haram Lil ghoyrihi (haram due to external effects), specifically its negative impact on health, in accordance with Islamic principles that protect the body and mind. This approach opens a dialogue between scholars and medical authorities and provides a foundation for determining the halal status of food. The implications of this study are the need for a balanced approach between medical considerations and Islamic law in determining the halal status of food ingredients. Public education about the potential health risks of Monosodium Glutamate is important so that Muslims can make wiser decisions regarding food consumption.

Abstract

This abstract aims to analyze the process of Islamic education reform in three Middle Eastern countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey, which face challenges in balancing the preservation of traditional Islamic values and the need for modernization based on science and technology. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature review to explore educational policies and socio-political dynamics that influence the transformation of Islamic education in the three countries. The findings reveal that Saudi Arabia, through its Vision 2030, focuses on moderating religious teachings and reforming the curriculum to create a globally competitive generation. Egypt attempts to integrate Al-Azhar education with the secular education system despite facing epistemological dualism. Turkey strengthens Islamic education through Imam Hatip schools under a secular state framework. This study identifies that the success of educational reform is greatly influenced by political and ideological contexts and the readiness of human resources. The implications of this study include the importance of curriculum flexibility and teacher training to respond to the challenges of the 21st century.

Abstract

Islamic Education and Moral Education in many schools, including Darut Taqwa High School, is still dominated by lecture methods, which result in low student participation and creativity. This condition encourages the need for more active and contextual learning innovations. This study aims to examine the strengthening of the creative dimension in Islamic Education and Character Education through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model at SMA Darut Taqwa. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Project-Based Learning is able to increase student active involvement, encourage creativity, and produce original works that are relevant to daily life. Teachers act as facilitators who guide the learning process to be more meaningful and contextual. The implications of this study indicate the importance of teacher training to master project-based learning models and the need for school support to create a learning environment that supports character building and creativity in accordance with the objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the challenge of developing effective methods for Al-Qur’an memorization that produce fast and high-quality memorizers. The aim of this research is to compare the Al-Qur’an memorization methods implemented at Pondok Pesantren Darul Qur’an Amplas and Pondok Pesantren Sulaimaniyah Medan. The research adopts a qualitative comparative-descriptive approach, involving teachers, students, and managers selected purposively as subjects. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Darul Qur’an uses a tasmi’ and muraja’ah collective method with a completion time of 2.5–3 years, which is effective in building a disciplined character. In contrast, Sulaimaniyah applies the Turkish Utsmani method with a tiered evaluation system that accelerates the achievement of 30 juz in 1–2 years, although it is less flexible for students with low motivation. The implications of this study suggest the need to integrate both methods and adjust the mentoring patterns according to the characteristics of the students to achieve optimal and high-quality memorization results.

Abstract

The decline in student motivation and discipline in learning after the Covid-19 pandemic has become one of the major challenges in Islamic boarding school-based educational institutions. Many students have difficulty concentrating and maintaining their enthusiasm for learning. In this context, this study aims to examine the influence of the habit of reciting the Thariqah Naqsyabandiyah wirid on the formation of learning character among students at the Al-Quran Al-Falah Islamic Boarding School Foundation in West Java. A quantitative correlational method was used, involving 39 final-year students. Data was collected through questionnaires measuring the frequency of wirid and learning characteristics, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation test. The results of the study indicate a significant positive correlation between the practice of wirid and improvements in learning characteristics, including religiosity, discipline, honesty, hard work, and humility. Additionally, wirid provides a calming effect that enhances focus and mental readiness. These findings emphasize the importance of spiritual routines in supporting character development. Implications suggest that educational institutions can integrate wirid practices as a strategy for character formation and mental strengthening among students, particularly to address the negative impacts of the post-pandemic period on learning quality.

Abstract

The phenomenon of quarter life crisis is increasingly prevalent among young Muslims in the digital age, which is fraught with demands for success, career uncertainty, and social pressure, causing existential anxiety and identity confusion. This study aims to explain the meaning of life purpose contained in the Qur'an Surah adz-Dzariyat verse 56 and its relevance to this phenomenon. The research method used is qualitative with a thematic interpretation approach. Data was obtained through literature review covering classical tafsir texts such as Ibn Katsir and al-Qurthubi, as well as modern tafsir works such as those by Quraish Shihab. Additionally, this study utilizes references from developmental psychology and logotherapy theories to enrich the discussion. The results of the study indicate that the concept of worship in the Qur'an Surah adz-Dzariyat verse 56 has a broad meaning, encompassing all aspects of human life aimed at seeking Allah's pleasure. This verse provides existential guidance for the younger generation in finding a clear, stable, and meaningful direction in life, thereby serving as a spiritual solution to the quarter-life crisis. The implications of this study are the need to strengthen spiritual literacy and contextual da'wah to help the younger generation deal with identity crises from a more transcendental perspective.
