Abstract

Media assist learners in gaining knowledge and skills. In this case the use of media is critical for providing students with knowledge of the lesson's subject. Using media for teaching is one solution an educator can make class's atmosphere more intriguing for students. Flashcards has been determined to be particularly effective among the current instructional method in teaching English skills. This literary study was carried out to check out flashcards's popularity in teaching English. This article use literature review method. This study is based on a systematic review of 30 journal articles in the databases Google Scholar, WoS (Web of Science), DOAJ (Directory Open Access Journal), and the website www.neliti.com (this website provided many journals in variation). This article discusses description of flashcards, advantages and disadvantages of flashcards, and the use of flashcards in teaching English. According to the findings of this literature review, flashcards are commonly used in teaching vocabulary rather than other language skills. The findings suggested that other variations in design and activities be used in the implementation of flashcards.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tuturan warganet pada kolom komentar Instagram @nadiemmakarim dan sebuah survei yang mengatakan tuturan bermedia sosial warganet Indonesia terggolong tidak sopan. Masalah dalam penelitian ini yakni bagaimana kesantunan berbahasa warganet pada kolom komentar di akun Instagram @nadiemmakarim. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan, menganalisis dan menginterpretasikan kesantunan warganet yang terdapat pada kolom komentar Instagram @nadiemmkarim. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini prinsip kesantunan yang dikemukakan Leech. Metode yang digunakan ialah analisis isi. Data dalam penelitian ini ialah tuturan yang terdapat yang terdapat dalam kolom komentar Instagram @nadiemmakarim tanggal 3 Desember 2021. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik dokumentasi, simak, dan, catat. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu denganĀ  memberikan kode, mengklasifikasi, menganalisis, menginterpretasi serta menyimpulkan hasil penelitian. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini yaitu: Terdapat lima prinsip kesantunan menurut Leech. Kelima prinsip kesantunan tersebut adalah maksim kebijaksanaan, maksim kedermawanan, maksim penghargaan, maksim permufakatan, dan maksim kesimpatisan dan penulis tidak menemukan yang tergolong maksim kesederhanaan. Dari lima prinsip kesantunan yang paling dominan ialah maksim permufakatan, sedangkan yang paling sedikit ialah maksim penghargaan.

Abstract

The diversity of cultures, tribes, races, religions, characters, and backgrounds in schools is the potential for differences in behavior, attitudes, or opinions. Meanwhile, students have the freedom to interact with peers. Supervision cannot be carried out continuously by the school. Every interaction between students, that's when bullying usually happens with each other. This action can occur between individuals, individuals with groups, groups with groups, and so on. Lack of understanding among students so this behavior continues to occur repeatedly. The lack of effort made coupled with habits that are difficult to change. Therefore, strong efforts are needed to minimize bullying. This article provides solutions for handling bullying in the school environment by involving various policymakers. From the results of the study, it was determined that Multicultural Education can be implemented at every level of education. The curriculum is regulated by requiring multicultural lessons to be required. The goal is to provide understanding as well as the practice of mutual respect for fellow human beings. Maximizing education about forms of bullying will reduce their actions. Students will consciously understand each other better and understand that the behavior can harm others.

Abstract

Ternate is one of the cities in North Maluku, located right beneath Gamalama Mountain. Ternate was once a trade center in the 13th century and became a melting pot for people from different countries with different purposes. There were Portuguese, Dutch, and Spanish with the aim of colonizing, and there were Arabian, Chinese, and locals outside Ternate, such as people from Halmahera, Sulawesi, Maluku, Sumatra, and Java, who came for trading. The arrival of these people contributes not only to language adaptation but also to place names known as toponymy. There are several relevant studies concerning toponymy in Indonesia, but they have yet to be done in Ternate. Hence, this research aims to: 1) analyze the morphological process of the villages naming in Ternate and 2) provide toponyms classification of the villages naming in Ternate. The primary data are taken from Ternate Dalam Angka, a statistical data from BPS Ternate, which contains 59 villages/sub-districts named in Ternate. The data was then analyzed and triangulated through in-depth interviews and literature studies. The data are presented both formally and informally. The analysis results show morphological processes concerning zero derivation, reduplication, compounding, abbreviation, back-formation, combination, borrowing, and phrases that occurred in the villages named in Ternate. The findings also attest to a theory proposed by George R. Stewart (2012) regarding toponymy classification of village naming in Ternate, in which there are descriptive, incident, possessive, commemorative, euphemistic, folk etymologies, manufactured, shift, mistake, descriptive + manufactured, euphemistic + manufactured, euphemistic + manufactured, and unknown.

Abstract

Dengan dibukanya kembali sekolah memberikan harapan baru bagi pendidikan diindonesia yang terpuruk dengan adanya pandemi covid-19. Namun dalam pelaksanaanya proses pembelajaran disekolah tetap harus menerapkan protokol kesehatan yang telah dihimbau oleh pemerintah khususnya di sulawesi utara. Dengan dilihatnya pembelajaran dalam jaringan atau pembelajaran online yang kurang efektif sehingga dinas pendidikan dan kebudayaan mengambil kebijakan dengan membuka sekolah dan melaksanakan kembali proses pembelajaran didalam kelas dengan tetap menjaga protokol kesehatan sehingga lingkungan belajar tetap aman dari pandemi covid-19. Peneliti disini ingin meninjau bagaimana proses pembelajaran di SMA Negeri 7 Manado dengan menerapkan protokol kesehatan. Metode yang digunakan peneliti yaitu dengan observasi kesekolah, wawancara yang dilakukan terhadap guru dan siswa yang ada disekolah tersebut atau dengan metode kualitatif. Karena dengan dibukanya sekolah untuk melaksanakan kembali proses pembelajaran namun dengan tetap menerapkan protokol kesehatan membuat pihak sekolah mempersiapkan apapun yang menjadi fasilitas serta prasarana yang akan menunjang pembelajaran di era new normal. Bagaimana proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan protokol kesehatan sehingga proses pembelajaran dapat tepat sasaran sehingga siswa yang hadir disekolah menjalani proses pembelajaran dengan nyaman dan juga memahami materi pembelajaran sehingga menghasilkan hasil belajar yang meningkat dari yang sebelumnya pembelajaran dari rumah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna nonreferensial dalam album Selamat Ulang Tahun karya Nadin Amizah. Termasuk ke dalam jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi (content analysis), data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata-kata pada lirik lagu dalam album Selamat Ulang Tahun Karya Nadin Amizah. Diterbitkan pada tahun 2020, berjumlah 10 lagu, yaitu Intro, Kanyah, Paman Tua, Kereta Ini Melaju Terlalu Cepat, Beranjak Dewasa, Bertaut, Taruh, Cermin, Mendarah, dan Sorak Sorai. Berdasarkan hasil analisis makna nonreferensial pada lirik lagu dalam album Selamat Ulang Tahun karya Nadin Amizah, penggunaan kata dan paling banyak ditemukan. Makna nonreferensial merujuk pada penggunaan kata yang tidak memiliki makna konkrit atau referensi ke objek atau kejadian tertentu. Meskipun kata ini sering digunakan sebagai penghubung, dalam konteks lirik lagu, penggunaannya memiliki makna yang lebih dalam. Penggunaan kata dan dalam lirik lagu dapat memberikan makna keterhubungan antara berbagai elemen dalam lagu, seperti perasaan, pikiran, atau pengalaman yang saling terkait. Kata ini dapat mencerminkan kompleksitas dan keragaman pengalaman manusia yang diungkapkan melalui lirik lagu tersebut. Selain itu, penggunaan kata-kata nonreferensial lainnya dalam album ini juga memberikan variasi makna yang dapat ditafsirkan secara subjektif oleh pendengar. Setiap pendengar mungkin memiliki interpretasi yang berbeda terhadap kata-kata tersebut, tergantung pada latar belakang, pengalaman, dan persepsi pribadi mereka.

Abstract

Film Rio The Survivor merupakan film yang mengisahkan seorang anak penderita HIV dengan semangat hidup yang tinggi karena ingin meraih impiannya, film ini banyak mengandung nilai moral sehingga penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai moral yang terdapat dalam film Rio The Survivor dan implikasinya terhadap pembelajaran sastra di SMP. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 12 bentuk nilai moral meliputi sikap jujur, menyadari kesalahan, giat belajar, sabar, tanggung jawab, bersyukur, berdoa, tawakal, kasih sayang, tolong menolong, sopan, dan memotivasi. Selain itu, film ini dapat diimplikasikan pada pembelajaran sastra salah satunya melalui tindakan yang diperankan oleh para pemain sehingga siswa dapat memahami mana tindakan baik yang dapat ditiru dan buruk yang tidak dapat ditiru.

Abstract

This study aims to identify difficulties and factors experienced by tenth-grade students and educators in implementing hiwar (dialogue) learning in a Senior High School located in Bandung City. The research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Techniques of data collection through test and non-test instruments. The test instrument is conducted through Arabic dialogue and non-tests through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. Data analysis techniques are carried out by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions from existing data. The results of the study revealed the difficulties encountered in hiwar learning are students feel incapable of understanding the hiwar learning materials provided by the teacher, students can not pronounce Arabic words, and can not express intonations correctly in Arabic dialogue. The difficulty factors are educational backgrounds, methods of learning, learning media, student ignorance of Arabic speech along with intonation, do not have textbooks and limited time, lack of student interest and motivation in learning hiwar, and student self-confidence.

Abstract

This study raises the problem of how the story structure in John Michaelson's novel Mualaf is viewed from narrative order, duration, frequency, mode, and narrative sound. The purpose of this research is to describe the story structure in John Michaelson's Novel Mualaf in terms of narrative order, duration, frequency, mode, and narrative voice. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there were five categories of Gerard Genette'snarratology theory, the first was narrative order, the level of narrative sequence contained in the novel, namely analepsis, the second was found in narrative duration, found the duration of narrative scenes and summaries, the third, in narrative frequency, there was repetition frequency in storytelling. novel, the fourth in the narrative mode of the novel uses internal focalization and in narrative voice seen from the time of telling this novel uses the time of telling of the past, on the person aspect there is a homodiegetic narrator type and on the narrative level of the novel there is an extradiegetic-homodiegetic paradigm.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze needs, determine the design and test the validity of teaching materials using the ATM method in audio-visual integrated poetry reading skills in class IV SDN 069 Limbong. The research was developed using the Research and Development (R&D) method and refers to the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages. However, this study was only carried out in up to 3 stages: analysis, design and development. This research was conducted at SDN 069 Limbong, located in Limbong Village, Rongkong District, North Luwu Regency. The instruments used were teacher interviews and student questionnaires. The analysis using teacher interviews shows that the teacher only uses the lecture method in the learning process, so there is no student interest in learning. The results of the student questionnaire show that students prefer teaching materials and media such as videos. The ATM method is structured and designed considering basic competencies and learning objectives. Teaching materials for the integrated audio-visual ATM method were assessed by three experts, including language and material experts, who obtained a percentage of 92.5% with a very valid category, design experts obtained a rate of 95% with a very valid category, and application experts obtained 93.7% with a very valid category.
