Abstract

Science education in elementary school is essential for developing students' critical thinking and understanding of natural processes. This study aims to develop and evaluate a differentiated science learning module assisted by AI Canva on the human digestive system to improve fifth-grade students' learning outcomes in Tegal Regency. Using the ADDIE development model, this Research and Development (RD) study collected data through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. The sample consisted of two fifth-grade classes: a control group and an experimental group. Data were analyzed using normality, homogeneity, t-tests, and feasibility assessments. The results show that the module is highly feasible, with material validation at 86.53% and media validation at 94.13%. Student learning outcomes in the experimental class increased from 81.66% (pre-test) to 100% (post-test), indicating the module's significant effectiveness. In conclusion, the AI Canva-assisted differentiated module is both feasible and effective in enhancing students’ understanding of the human digestive system.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties of children who are in the early stages of elementary school and the efforts made by teachers to overcome them. Factors that cause difficulties for children who are in the transition period of ECE SD are internal and external factors, including the lack of synchronization of the SD and ECE curriculum. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. In this study, the instrument used was an interview guide. And the analysis used descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that children's learning difficulties were found in the aspects of reading, writing and arithmetic, social, emotional, psychological, and physical-motor. This will have an impact on children so that children will have difficulty learning at the elementary school level. Based on the findings, the efforts made by teachers are 1) collaborating and communicating with parents, 2) helping to direct children both in academics and socializing, 3) using differentiated learning by dividing into three groups according to their respective levels, 4) habituation, 5) activating the class with ice breaking, 6) providing free activities, 7) providing advice,  and 8) establishing cooperation with other teachers. The teacher hopes that after these efforts are made, children can become more independent and can adjust to elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between reading comprehension and writing coherence among English language learners in junior high school. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design to determine the correlation between reading and writing. 17 eighth grade students from MTs Raudatul Jannah were selected through purposive sampling. Data were obtained using a standardized reading comprehension test and an analytic rubric that assessed coherence in students' written texts. Pearson correlation analysis showed a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.63, p 0.05) between students' reading comprehension scores and the coherence of their writing. This finding suggests that higher reading comprehension is associated with greater coherence in writing. This study highlights the pedagogical implication that integrated reading and writing instruction can improve students' overall language performance in an EFL environment.

Abstract

Fluency in English requires accurate pronunciation. Many students still have difficulty pronouncing words and sentences correctly, making it hard for listeners to understand. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has witnessed the emergence of numerous applications and platforms, including ChatGPT, ELSA Speak, Memrise, and Duolingo, among others. The success of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational settings is not contingent solely on the students and the technology itself; it is also essential to comprehend the parents' perceptions. This research is correlational. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and parental perceptions on students' pronunciation skills at SMPN XYZ Pekanbaru. The sample population comprised 166 ninth-grade students selected at random from a total population of 285. The validity and reliability of the questionnaires were tested before distribution to determine how students use AI and how parents perceive it. The students underwent a brief reading test to assess their pronunciation. The findings of this study demonstrate a substantial influence of both artificial intelligence and parental perception on students' pronunciation skills; however, the observed effect size was relatively modest. The present study posits that collaboration between teachers and parents is necessary to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) provides optimal benefits.

Abstract

This study explores how female agency and resistance are represented in the animated film Wolfwalkers (2020) through the lens of Feminist Stylistics, as proposed by Sara Mills. The analysis focuses on linguistic features such as naming, transitivity, and sentence structure to uncover how the film challenges traditional gender roles and conveys themes of empowerment. The findings reveal that Wolfwalkers portrays its female characters as independent, courageous, and capable of subverting patriarchal authority. Through stylistic choices in both dialogue and narration, the film articulates a feminist discourse that foregrounds solidarity and transformation. This research contributes to feminist stylistic studies by demonstrating how language functions as a tool for resistance and gender redefinition in animated storytelling.

Abstract

Continuous cooperation in a partnership must always include effective and open communication so that stakeholders understand and know the performance system of the institution that is entrusted in developing a directed and effective education for children and education. This research is to find out the management and utilization of existing resources, both teacher resources and infrastructure resources managed by schools in cooperation and collaboration with stakeholders and partnerships that always support every decision making in helping the development of human resources (teachers) and school infrastructure. The collaboration built by parents and school management has a great impact both on the success of an educational institution and on teacher resources and school infrastructure in addition to facilitating schools for student growth by carrying out sustainable collaboration. In order to create good cooperation between schools and the community, the community needs to know and have a clear picture of the school concerned.   The description and condition of the school can be informed to the public through reports to parents of students.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a multicultural country, faces challenges in managing diversity to prevent it from becoming a source of conflict. Multicultural education is recognized as a strategic approach to instill values of tolerance and mutual respect. Within this context, Islamic Religious Education (IRE) holds a crucial role in shaping the nation's moral foundation and preparing students to live harmoniously in a diverse society. This study aims to explore the integration of assessment frameworks in IRE to holistically develop students' competencies, particularly their awareness and understanding of multiculturalism. Employing a library research method and content analysis of relevant sources, the study reveals that integrating Assessment of Learning (AoL), Assessment for Learning (AfL), and Assessment as Learning (AaL) into IRE-based instruction enriched with multicultural values can effectively support the internalization of tolerance. Teachers act as role models, while assessment strategies such as authentic assessment, attitude evaluation, values-based discussions, case studies, and peer assessments significantly contribute to nurturing students' tolerant character. Consequently, multicultural education supported by appropriate assessment strategies in IRE plays a vital role in shaping a generation of Indonesian youth who are intelligent, strong in character, inclusive, tolerant, and capable of contributing positively to a diverse society. However, schools alone, as agents of social change, may not be sufficient to fully optimize learning and assessment processes that support the internalization of multicultural and religious moderation values.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of discipline and responsibility on students' self-awareness in the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in practical lectures at the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program, Sriwijaya University. The background of this study is based on the low awareness of students in implementing OHS, particularly in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when conducting practical work in the laboratory. Self-awareness, as an individual's ability to recognize and evaluate oneself, plays a crucial role in enhancing discipline and responsibility in the context of workplace safety. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method, distributing questionnaires to students from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts, with the sample size determined using the Slovin formula. The instruments used include validated indicators of discipline, responsibility, and self-awareness. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) to determine the relationships and influences between variables. The results of the study indicate that both discipline and responsibility have a positive and significant influence on students' self-awareness in implementing OSH. The combination of these two variables also contributes more significantly to enhancing self-awareness. This study is expected to provide practical contributions to improving the implementation of OSH in practical academic settings and serve as a reference for the development of policies and learning strategies based on workplace safety in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the strategies employed by an English teacher in teaching reading comprehension to first-grade students at SMAN 6 Palangka Raya in alignment with the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a phenomenological approach, data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The findings revealed that the teacher applied two main strategies: Digital and Multimodal Reading Strategy and Question Answer Relationship (QARs). The Digital and Multimodal Reading Strategy enhanced student engagement by integrating digital texts with images, audio, and video, allowing for deeper comprehension through multimodal input. Meanwhile, the QARs strategy guided students in identifying question types and locating answers, which fostered critical thinking and metacognitive awareness. Both strategies were found to be effective in increasing students’ motivation and understanding in reading activities. The study highlights the importance of adopting flexible and student-centered teaching approaches, especially those that align with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The purpose of this essay is to examine the Islamic obligation to wear the hijab and the phenomenon of the refusal of some Muslim women to follow Islamic law. This study combines the methodology of literature study with qualitative methods. Wearing the hijab is strictly required by Islam as part of the full implementation of religion. However, in practice, many Muslim women have not adopted Islamic law as a way of thinking and behaving, especially in the realm of education. The findings of this study indicate that the prevalence of a secular mindset and poor understanding of Islamic teachings in general are the main causes of this non-compliance. Therefore, great efforts are needed in the world of Islamic education that not only emphasizes theoretical and legal aspects, but also forms an ideological awareness of the importance of making Islam the only guideline for life.
