Abstract

This research aims to obtain an overview of the implementation of curriculum management based on Pancasila student profiles to improve the character of students at Nurul Ilmi Junior High School, Banyuasin Regency, starting from the planning, organization, implementation and evaluation stages. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. Then the collected data will be analyzed using a triangulation model. It starts with the stage of collecting data, reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the implementation of the curriculum based on Pancasila student profiles to improve the character of students at Nurul Ilmi Junior High School has been integrated starting from the planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation stages of running systematically. At the planning stage, management in improving character is carried out through conditioning every year in the form of work programs and habituation. At the organizing stage, it begins with the formation of a compact and harmonious working group. At the implementation stage, curriculum management is carried out through the process of observing Pancasila student profile project activities, learning processes, and habituation. At the evaluation stage, it was carried out through an assessment process of the results of the P5 report card and the holding of work and art performances. Integrated curriculum management based on Pancasila student profiles is effective in shaping student character and can be a reference for other schools as well as considerations for policy makers.

Abstract

This study investigates students’ perceptions of using the Episoden application to enhance English speaking skills at MA Manba’ul Bayan. Speaking is often considered the most challenging skill for EFL learners due to limited opportunities for authentic practice, lack of confidence, and vocabulary constraints. To address this, Episoden, a mobile-based platform that enables real-time video conversations with international speakers, was introduced as a supplementary learning tool. The research employed a qualitative descriptive design, with data collected through classroom observations, interviews, and field notes involving eleventh-grade students. Findings revealed that students initially experienced anxiety and hesitation when using the application, but gradually developed greater confidence, fluency, and motivation after repeated practice. The application provided authentic communicative experiences, supported intercultural interaction, and allowed learners to practice beyond the classroom at their own pace. Despite technical challenges such as unstable internet connections and difficulties understanding accents, students expressed positive attitudes toward Episoden and considered it an effective tool for improving their speaking skills. Overall, this study highlights the potential of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) applications like Episoden in fostering more meaningful and engaging speaking practice for EFL learners.

Abstract

This study discusses the translation analysis of exclamatory sentences said by the main character, Belly Conklin, in the novel We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han from English to Indonesian. This study aims to analyze and identify the expressions of emotion in exclamatory sentences based on Charles Darwin's theory (1872) of expressions of emotion and to analyze the cultural meaning and pragmatic meaning in the translation of exclamatory sentences based on Yule's theory (1996) of pragmatics. This study uses qualitative methods. The findings show that most of the exclamatory sentences said by the main character express the emotion of joy (54.55%), followed by anger (36.36%) and sadness (9.09%), with no emotion of fear or disgust found. In addition, most of the exclamatory sentences contain both cultural meaning and pragmatic meaning (54.55%), while the rest only contain pragmatic meaning (45.45%), and no sentences containing only cultural meaning were found. The implication of this study emphasizes the importance of understanding the context of the story, culture, and pragmatic aspects in the translation process, especially in literary works. Expressions of emotion can change in intensity in translation, and failure to understand the context can lead to errors in capturing the characters' intentions. Therefore, a thorough understanding of cultural context and pragmatics is necessary to produce accurate and meaningful translation. This study is also relevant in the translation of movie dialogues and other literary texts.

Abstract

Politeness is a part of politeness in using language when communicating verbally and in writing. In this study, the principle of politeness is used to confront each other when debating must use strategies and language that fall within the scope of the maxims of the right principles of manners. The research aims to describe progressive politeness in the debate of presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2024, this is done to be a reference in learning Indonesian speech texts about the importance of language politeness in the debate reflecting the level of language that is in accordance with the ability of students, so that the material can be used as a concrete reference that is easy to understand and contextual for students. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach method, a descriptive qualitative method to describe social reality in a complex way by describing, analyzing, and interpreting data according to the conditions in the object to be studied. Research data was obtained through documentation techniques used to download debate videos and transcribe data, After that the listening technique was continued, this listening technique does not involve the researcher in the conversation, but the researcher is only as a tapping on the conversation between the speaker and the opponent. The recording technique is carried out at the same time as the listening technique, the recorded speech is in the form of oral speech from a youtube video so that it turns into a form of written notes. The data that has been collected is then transcribed and analyzed using the theory of politeness according to Leech (2015) which is described into six parts, namely, the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of appreciation, the maxim of moderation, the maxim of consensus, and the maxim of sympathy. This study uses the YouTube channels Chanel Tv Sukabumi, BeritaSatu, Kompas Tv, Kompas Tv Sukabumi as an object to carry out research that refers to the validity of the research. The results of this study are expected to describe the speeches delivered in the debate, students not only learn about the structure and use of language, but also understand the importance of choosing the right words, intonation, and speech attitudes according to who their speaking partners are and in accordance with the context of the ongoing communication situation.

Abstract

With the growing integration of digital tools in education, there is a need to understand how the medium of assignment delivery influences students’ writing development. The research involved two groups of students who were assigned writing tasks using paper and digital platforms. Writing samples were evaluated based on coherence, grammar, vocabulary usage, and organization. Results indicated that digital-based assignments demonstrated significantly greater improvement in students' writing skills, particularly in vocabulary usage, organization, and revision efficiency. The average post-test scores of Digital Group (23–24 out of 25) were higher than the Paper-based group (22–23 out of 25), with an effect size ranging from Cohen’s d = 1.100 to 1.108, indicating a large educational impact. In the Descriptive Writing section, the results indicate that the mean and standard deviation for the paper-based group are 18.09 (SD = 1.446) for the pre-test and 21.18 (SD = 1.079) for the post-test. In contrast, the digital-based group shows a mean of 16.73 (SD = 1.272) for the pre-test and 22.64 (SD = 1.120) for the post-test. In the Argumentative Writing section, the results reveal that the mean and standard deviation for the paper-based group are 17.09 (SD = 1.446) for the pre-test and 22.07 (SD = 1.536) for the post-test, whereas the digital-based group has a mean of 19.00 (SD = 1.539) for the pre-test and 23.85 (SD = 1.453) for the post-test. Based on these results, it is evident that the most significant improvements were observed in the digital-based group, which showed an increase of 5.91 points in Descriptive Writing and 4.85 points in Argumentative Writing assignments. However, paper-based tasks were more effective in promoting deeper planning and reducing distractions. The study concludes that a blended approach may offer the most balanced benefit in developing students’ writing competencies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a science learning model that can improve the creativity of early childhood (Early Childhood). The study was conducted in two Early Childhood Education institutions, namely TK Negeri Pembina Pahandut and TK Rajawali Sakti in Palangka Raya City. A qualitative approach with a multi-case study design was used to explore the implementation process, assessment models, and supporting and inhibiting factors for the development of creativity through science. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of project-based learning, exploration, experiments, and games has a positive impact on children's cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The implications of this study encourage the need to strengthen teacher training and provide creative science learning facilities in Early Childhood Education.

Abstract

Academic writing requires clarity, precision, and objectivity, which can be achieved through formal language. However, students often apply informal language in their actual practices. This descriptive qualitative research analyzed the dominant type of language features utilized by 23 fourth-semester students. It also analyzed the rhetorical purposes for which they utilized them. Additionally, this study explored students’ awareness of using formal language features and avoiding informal ones in their academic writing. Data were collected from argumentative essay assignments and a questionnaire. The findings indicate the predominantly utilized formal language features in their essays. These included precise wording (with lexical density greater than 61%), passive voice, and hedging. The informal language features predominantly applied were colloquial expressions, followed by two-word verbs, idiomatic expressions, and contractions. This study contributes to the existing literature on academic writing. It also provides information to improve academic writing courses and guides students toward more formal academic writing.

Abstract

This study critically examines the impact of digitalization in education on students’ readiness to face the transformative demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, with specific attention to the Indonesian context. Although international research highlights the role of digital tools in enhancing 21st-century skills, studies in Indonesia remain scarce and often overlook how digital education directly influences student preparedness for Industry 4.0. This gap is particularly urgent given the persistent digital divide, uneven teacher digital competence, and disparities in access to technological infrastructure across Indonesian schools. Adopting a qualitative design, the research employs a triangulation method involving in-depth interviews with five teachers and two students, participatory observation, and document analysis at SMPN 1 Kotabaru. The findings reveal that digitalization significantly enhances student readiness by fostering interactive, personalized, and flexible learning environments. The use of e-learning platforms, AI-based applications, and immersive technologies such as VR/AR not only improves student engagement and self-paced learning but also develops critical competencies, including creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.This research contributes to filling the gap in Indonesian educational studies by demonstrating how digital transformation can align classroom practices with the competency demands of Industry 4.0. The study provides strategic recommendations for policymakers and educators to strengthen digital infrastructure, improve teacher capacity, and promote inclusive access to technology in order to optimize student readiness for the future world of work.

Abstract

This study aims to improving vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students through cartoon movie at SMP Negeri 1 Sindue Tobata. This research used a quasi-experimental research design. The population of this study consisted of 67 students from class VII A, VII B, and VII C at SMP Negeri 1 sindue tobata. The sample was class VII C, as the experimental group, and class VII B, as the control group. This study used simple purposive sampling. The researcher administered pretests and posttests during data collection. The results showed that the mean score of the experimental group on the post-test (75) was higher than that of the control group (50). This was confirmed by calculations using the SPSS 26 version, where The significance value (Asymp. 2-tailed) is 0.000, which is smaller than the significance of 0.05; this indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. These findings suggest that through cartoon movies are an effective medium for improving students’ vocabulary mastery in English language teaching.

Abstract

This literature review explores the influence of song implementation on the development of language skills in early childhood. Songs are widely used as an engaging educational tool to introduce children to vocabulary, sentence structures, and concepts such as counting and environmental knowledge. This study aims to examine how the integration of songs in early learning environments supports language acquisition and communication development. Using a qualitative literature review approach, relevant studies were analyzed to identify patterns in the use of music for linguistic stimulation. The findings highlight that songs significantly enhance children's vocabulary, facilitate faster word recall, and improve long-term memory retention. Moreover, singing activities help reduce language delays by creating a relaxed, enjoyable learning atmosphere that encourages verbal expression. These results underscore the importance of incorporating music-based methods in early childhood education as a strategy to optimize language development.
