Abstract

The idea of “feminine energy” has become popular on TikTok, where many women share videos encouraging others to be calm, gentle, and soft as a way to feel empowered. These videos often use soft voices, elegant visuals, and positive language to promote what they call “true femininity.” However, this kind of content can also bring back old gender stereotypes that expect women to be passive and polite. This study explores how the idea of “feminine energy” is shown through language and behavior on TikTok, how audiences react to it, and what it means for women’s empowerment. Using Robin Lakoff’s Language and Woman’s Place (1975) and Fairclough’s Discourse Theory (1992), this research analyzes 10 TikTok videos under the hashtags #FeminineEnergy, #Feminine, and #WomanPower. The findings show that while many women see the “feminine energy” trend as self-improvement, the language and visuals often repeat traditional gender roles. The study concludes that the trend presents femininity as empowerment, but still within the limits of old social expectations.

Abstract

Education is a systematic process in helping individuals develop their potential, where the Independent Curriculum presents as an innovation that emphasizes flexibility and student-centered learning. This study aims to understand in depth how the implementation of the Independent Curriculum affects student learning motivation at SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Siantar. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive study method and in-depth interviews with ten students in grades 10 and 11 selected using a purposive sampling technique. In addition to interviews, data collection techniques also involved participant observation and documentation to explore the subjects' experiences comprehensively. The results show that the Independent Curriculum has a positive impact on student learning motivation, where students feel more enthusiastic and responsible because they have the freedom to choose activities that suit their interests. The collaborative and project-based learning environment has been shown to foster intrinsic motivation and self-confidence. In conclusion, this study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of the concept of learning motivation in the context of Indonesian education and serves as a practical reference for teachers and schools that the Independent Curriculum is effective in increasing motivation by fulfilling psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and social connectedness.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement in the writing skills of explanatory texts of ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Gunungputri, Bogor Regency, using mock-ups. The problem raised is the lack of writing practice, which results in low mastery of basic skills such as vocabulary and the ability to organize ideas logically. In addition, the limited learning media in the classroom also becomes an obstacle, because students do not get a variety of media that can help them focus on learning to write, so that understanding of concepts in the learning process is also low. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental research method in the form of a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study were all ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Gunungputri, Bogor Regency, which consists of 7 classes. Therefore, the researcher took a sample from the population by involving a number of ninth-grade students. In this study, the population taken was ninth-grade students. Data collection techniques used in this study were test techniques in the form of written tests and non-test techniques in the form of questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out using validity tests, reliability tests, and t-tests. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class increased by 18.43 points (from 52.21 to 70.64), while the average score of the control class increased by 12.86 points (from 47.64 to 60.5). This indicates that the use of mockups is more effective than posters in improving students' explanatory text writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between principals’ academic supervision, school culture, and teacher professionalism on teacher performance in public elementary schools in Wonocolo District. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The population consisted of all elementary school teachers in Wonocolo District, and the sample was selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The results indicate that principals’ academic supervision has a significant relationship with teacher performance. School culture is also significantly related to teacher performance, while teacher professionalism shows a significant influence on teacher performance. Furthermore, academic supervision, school culture, and teacher professionalism simultaneously have a significant relationship with teacher performance. These findings suggest that improving teacher performance requires integrated efforts through effective academic supervision, the development of a positive school culture, and continuous professional development. This study contributes theoretically to educational management literature and provides practical implications for school leaders and policymakers in enhancing the quality of elementary education.

Abstract

A substantial body of research suggests that learning styles contribute to learners’ academic performance; however, evidence regarding their influence in tertiary-level EFL contexts remains inconsistent. While many studies report positive correlations between learning styles and language achievement, recent findings indicate that learning style differences do not always lead to significant performance variations. This inconsistency highlights the need for further investigation, particularly in Islamic higher education settings where empirical studies are still limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine whether learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic—significantly affect the academic achievement of EFL students. Employing a quantitative ex post facto design, data were collected from 30 students using a learning style questionnaire adapted from DePorter et al. (2007) measured through a five-point Likert scale, along with official final exam scores from English skill courses. The data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA, Tukey HSD, and a Kruskal–Wallis test. The results revealed no significant differences in academic achievement among the three learning style groups, F(2, 27) = 0.334, p = 0.719, a finding reinforced by the non-parametric test (p = 0.864). Although kinesthetic learners showed slightly higher mean scores, the differences were not statistically meaningful. These findings suggest that learning styles do not significantly influence EFL students’ academic achievement in Islamic higher education. The study underscores the importance of adopting multimodal and flexible instructional approaches rather than relying solely on learning style-based teaching.

Abstract

Cyberbullying has increasingly emerged as a serious issue along with the intensive use of social media among students. This study aimed to examine differences in peer attachment and cyberbullying behavior among junior high school students based on gender and grade level. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 245 students of SMP Negeri 11 Makassar selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using peer attachment and cyberbullying scales and were analyzed using nonparametric tests, namely Mann–Whitney and Kruskal–Wallis tests. The results show a significant difference in cyberbullying behavior based on gender, with female students displaying higher levels than male students, while peer attachment does not significantly differ by gender. Based on grade level, cyberbullying behavior significantly differs, with eighth-grade students showing the highest tendency, whereas peer attachment is strongest among seventh-grade students. These findings indicate that positive peer relationships play an important role in reducing cyberbullying behavior during adolescence.

Abstract

This study investigates students’ perceptions of the Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka (PMM) 4 Program at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) Bali. The research aims to explore how participants perceive the academic, cultural, and personal dimensions of their experience during the exchange, including the benefits, challenges, and transformative impacts encountered throughout the program. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with four PMM 4 alumni from various Indonesian universities. The findings reveal that students hold predominantly positive perceptions of the program. Academically, PMM 4 enriched their learning experiences through exposure to diverse teaching methods, interdisciplinary courses, and active classroom engagement, which enhanced critical thinking and communication skills. Culturally, the program fostered intercultural awareness and appreciation of Indonesia’s pluralism, enabling participants to develop tolerance and empathy through direct immersion in Balinese traditions. Personally, students reported notable growth in confidence, adaptability, and independence while navigating new academic and social environments. However, several challenges were also identified, including differences in teaching styles, limited coordination between host and home institutions, and workload intensity. Despite these issues, PMM 4 was perceived as a holistic learning platform that integrates academic development with cultural and personal growth, effectively preparing students to engage in a globalized educational context. The study suggests that stronger institutional collaboration, improved mentoring systems, and balanced program design will further enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of PMM in the future.

Abstract

This article examines how empowerment is marketed through sexual labor performance on digital platforms. Using Mikaela Siragusa, a TikTok and OnlyFans creator, as a case study, it explores how postfeminist ideologies of agency, choice, and self-branding intersect with neoliberal commodification logics. Through discourse and visual analysis of content, captions, and persona supplemented by systematic audience comment analysis, this article argues empowerment is strategically sold within digital marketplaces. Findings reveal how postfeminist rhetoric transforms sexual self-expression into entrepreneurial labor, blurring autonomy and objectification boundaries, while audience participation actively reproduces female sexuality commodification.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in formative assessment practices has transformed how English as a Foreign Language (EFL) writing is taught and evaluated. This study employs a qualitative Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA protocol to explore empirical and conceptual studies on AI-mediated digital formative assessment, focusing on three key dimensions: validity, teacher digital literacy, and ethical implications. From an initial pool of 237 studies published between 2018 - 2025, 22 studies met the inclusion criteria. A narrative synthesis revealed that while AI tools enhance feedback immediacy and data-driven decision-making, issues of construct validity, teacher competence in AI-based feedback interpretation, and ethical concerns - such as bias and data privacy - remain unresolved. The review concludes that the effective implementation of AI-mediated assessment requires not only technological readiness but also a deep pedagogical understanding and ethical awareness among teachers.
