Abstract

Pendidikan di tingkat Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) merupakan masa transisi krusual di mana minat belajar siswa harus di pupuk secara optimal. Namun, kenyataan di lapagan menunjukkan adanya keberagaman kemampuan kognitif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran guru sebagai motivator dalam mengeksplorasi minat belajar siswa berkemampuan kognitif rendah serta mengidentifikasi kendala yang dihadapi guru di MI Wahana Ilmi Gondosari. Pendidikan merupakan salah satu aspek yag sangat penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia. Guru merupakan komponen penting di bidang Pendidikan juga dalam proses pembelajaran. Adapula banyak cara pengajar dalam meningkatkan minat belajar seperti dijelaskan oleh Slameto, yaitu: Menggunakan minat-minat yang ada, membentuk minat belajar yang baru, menghubungkan dengan peristiwa sensasional, memakai insentif dalam usaha mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Siswa dengan kemampuan kognitif rendah sering kali mengalami krisis kepercayaan diri dan kehilangan minat belajar karena merasa tertinggal dari teman sebayanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan desain studi kasus. Data ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara semi terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yang melibatkan guru kelas, siswa berkemampuan kognitif rendah, kepala madrasah, dan rekan sejawat. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan gambaran mendalam mengenai strategi motivasi yang efektif dalam mengakselerasi minat belajar siswa yang lambat belajar (slow learner). Abstract

Memorizing the Qur'an (tahfidz) is a fundamental component of Islamic education that contributes significantly to a Muslim's spiritual and intellectual growth. However, in practice, many students (santri) encounter challenges in the memorization process, including difficulties with concentration, the use of less effective methods, and limited time available for focused memorization. This study aims to examine the implementation of the talaqqi method in improving the quality of Qur'an memorization among students at Adab Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah Baleharjo, Pacitan. The talaqqi method is a learning approach in which students engage directly with the teacher through listening, imitating, and receiving immediate correction of their recitation. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the application of the talaqqi method enhances the quality of students' memorization, particularly in term of accurate tajwid and makhraj (pronunciation), fluency, and proper etiquette in reciting the Qur'an. Supporting factors identified include a conducive learning environment, strong student motivation and discipline, support from parent and the surrounding community, and a structured learning system. On the other hand, inhibiting factors include low motivation and inconsistency among students, limited instructional time, variations in students' abilities, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, and insufficient repetition (muraja'ah).

Abstract

Character education must be instilled from an early age in children. the formation of character in children begins while they are still in the womb, until they are born and grow up in their surrounding environment. The roles of those closest to them greatly influence a child’s character, including the parenting roles of parents, teachers, and the people in the child’s developmental environment. The scope of the study is about the implementation of character program that applied to students, the character values produced, and the character evaluations which was conducted at SD Plus Rahmat Kota Kediri. This research used qualitative method by using data collection techniques of interview, observation, and documents, with the model analysis interactive techniques. The Novelty of this research is the character habituation program implemented during intra-curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities. The values of character that are implemented include religiousness, curiosity, social care, discipline, and creativity. The evaluation is conducted by holding tiered class meetings and teacher training workshop programs. This research is expected to serve as a source of reference and study for the application of practices related to character habituation among students, also becomes an alternative policy applied in schools related to the character building program of students.

Abstract

This study is an action research aimed at improving participation and motivation among Grade IV B students at SDN Pegirian II/495 Surabaya in learning English through the use of the game-based learning platform "Kahoot". The research was conducted in two cycles with a focus on continuous improvement based on the evaluation of previous cycles. The first cycle involved lesson planning by developing interactive lesson plans and quizzes using Kahoot, followed by observations of student participation and feedback analysis. The results of the first cycle showed an increase in student participation, albeit with technical challenges that needed to be addressed. The second cycle continued with refining the teaching strategies, including the use of additional features within Kahoot to enhance student engagement. The results of the second cycle demonstrated a significant increase in student participation up to 95% and improvements in quiz scores above the average. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data confirmed that the implementation of Kahoot successfully increased student motivation through interactive and competitive learning. The implications of this research support the use of game-based learning as an effective approach to enhance English language learning in primary schools, with specific attention to technology adaptation and continuous improvement in the learning process.

Abstract

The transformation of an environment-based social program into a madrasah curriculum is an important issue in the development of character education in Islamic elementary schools, particularly when schools are expected to integrate ecological, social, and religious values into students’ learning experiences. This study aims to analyze the transformation of the waste donation program into an environmental philanthropy curriculum, its implementation in madrasah practices, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in its application. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design at MI Muhammadiyah 08 Pelangwot, Lamongan. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, field notes, and document studies involving the principal, vice principal for curriculum affairs, program coordinator, and classroom teachers as the main informants. The data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings show that the waste donation program transformed from a community-based social movement into a madrasah curricular practice through habituation, routine agendas, value reinforcement in learning, and character reflection. The implementation of the environmental philanthropy curriculum is reflected in Friday waste collection activities, school cleaning duties, waste sorting and selling, recording of proceeds, and the interpretation of waste as a medium of charity. The main supporting factors include madrasah leadership, teacher commitment, the role of the program coordinator, and community participation, while the inhibiting factors include students’ consistency, limited facilities, administrative challenges, and character evaluation. This study confirms that waste donation can serve as a contextual curriculum model that integrates character education, environmental education, and Islamic philanthropy in Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

Waste problems in community and school environments are not only related to ecological concerns but also closely connected to the formation of moral awareness, social responsibility, and students’ character. This study aims to analyze how character education can be developed through environmental philanthropy in the waste donation program at MI Muhammadiyah 8 Pelangwot, Lamongan. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and supporting questionnaires involving teachers and students who participated in the waste donation program. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis through the stages of data familiarization, coding, theme development, theme review, and interpretation of findings. The results show that the waste donation program originated from the initiative of Pemuda Muhammadiyah in Pelangwot Village as a response to post-Eid al-Fitr waste problems, later gaining community support and becoming integrated into the madrasah’s regular program. This program contributes to the formation of environmentally caring character through the habituation of bringing waste from home every Friday, school cleaning duties, student involvement in waste collection, and the interpretation of waste as a medium of charity. In addition to supporting school finances and cross-subsidies for students from low-income families, the program also serves as a medium of educational communication that connects ecological, social, and religious values. This study confirms that environmental philanthropy can serve as a contextual, participatory, and applicable model of character education for Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

The separation between religion and science in primary school learning often leads students to perceive science merely as empirical knowledge, while religion is positioned as a normative doctrine detached from their learning experiences. This condition highlights the need for a learning model that integrates scientific literacy, religious reflection, and character formation within a unified pedagogical framework. This study aims to analyze the implementation of an Integrative Religion and Science Learning Model in shaping the religious character of students at an Integrated Primary School in Probolinggo City. The study employed a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires administered to fifth-grade students to examine the relationship between the implementation of the integrative learning model and students’ religious character. Qualitative data were obtained through classroom observations and interviews with teachers and students to explain the learning processes, contextual dynamics, and pedagogical meanings underlying the model. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, and thematic analysis, and were subsequently integrated through a joint display. The findings indicate that the integrative religion and science learning model is implemented through the integration of learning objectives, science content and religious values, inquiry-reflective activities, and religious habituation within the school environment. The model contributes to the formation of students’ religious character through the strengthening of faith, worship practices, moral conduct, gratitude, responsibility, and social care. This study emphasizes that religious character formation cannot rely solely on verbal religious instruction but should be developed through science learning that is reflective, dialogical, and spiritually meaningful.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has fundamentally transformed educational practices and introduced new challenges to students’ well-being, particularly in the spiritual domain. Although studies on digital well-being and spiritual well-being have grown substantially in recent years, the integration of these concepts within Islamic education remains limited. This study aims to identify, analyze, and develop a conceptual framework of Digital Spiritual Well-Being for Islamic elementary school students in the age of AI. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was employed following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Data were collected from the Scopus database using the keywords “spiritual well-being” and “education.” The initial search yielded 1,357 articles, which were subsequently screened through predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 19 eligible studies for analysis. Data were examined using thematic content analysis. The findings revealed four major themes: (1) spiritual well-being as a foundation for mental health, meaning in life, and self-regulation; (2) family, Islamic schools, and religious environments as ecological foundations of spiritual well-being; (3) spiritual practices as strategies for strengthening emotional regulation, resilience, and digital awareness; and (4) the need for a Digital Spiritual Well-Being framework in the era of AI. Based on the literature synthesis, this study proposes five key dimensions of Digital Spiritual Well-Being: spiritual awareness, digital self-regulation, moral discernment, relational well-being, and meaningful digital engagement. The findings suggest that Islamic elementary education in the AI era should integrate spirituality, ethics, and digital competencies in a balanced manner to support students’ holistic developmentKeywords: digital distraction; learning concentration; Islamic elementary school; digital literacy; systematic literature review.

Abstract

Digital distraction has become one of the major challenges in learning within the era of digital transformation, potentially reducing students’ learning concentration. The increasing use of smartphones, social media, digital applications, and technology-based learning platforms has created a learning environment filled with stimuli that can divert students’ attention from academic activities. This study aims to analyze the forms of digital distraction, contributing factors, impacts on learning concentration, and mitigation strategies within educational settings, particularly among Islamic elementary school students. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A total of 33 Scopus-indexed articles published between 2022 and 2026 were analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings reveal that the most common forms of digital distraction include social media, application notifications, smartphones, digital gaming, and multitasking activities. The causes of digital distraction stem from technological, individual, and learning-environment factors. Digital distraction negatively affects learning concentration, increases cognitive load, reduces academic engagement, and lowers the quality of learning comprehension. Effective mitigation strategies include strengthening self-regulated learning, enhancing digital literacy, optimizing the roles of teachers and parents, and implementing interactive and engagement-oriented learning approaches. This study highlights that the wise management of technology is essential for maintaining students’ learning concentration while supporting character development and learning ethics within Islamic elementary school education. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a holistic-integrative education model through Islamic Social Emotional Learning (ISEL) among elementary school students in Islamic schools. The study employed a qualitative approach using a multiple-case study design conducted at MI Muhammadiyah 1 Probolinggo and SD Muhammadiyah Plus Probolinggo, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving 20 participants consisting of principals, teachers, students, and parents. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis through the stages of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The findings reveal that the implementation of holistic-integrative education was carried out through the integration of spiritual habituation, emotional reflection, social activities, Islamic conflict resolution, and the internalization of Islamic moral values in daily school life. The Islamic Social Emotional Learning model identified in this study consists of five main dimensions: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making, which are integrated with Islamic values such as rahmah (compassion), hikmah (wisdom), ukhuwah (brotherhood), sabr (patience), amanah (trustworthiness), and afwun (forgiveness). The study also found that teachers play a central role as emotional-spiritual mentors who model emotional and spiritual character development for students. Theoretically, this study contributes to the advancement of contemporary Islamic education by extending the concept of Social Emotional Learning through a spiritual-transcendental dimension. Practically, the ISEL model may serve as an alternative paradigm for character education in Islamic elementary schools in addressing the challenges of 21st-century and digital-era education.
