Abstract

Disorders of child development have the potential to become long-term health problems. This can be prevented by carrying out child development assessments that are carried out independently by parents. However, the instruments for assessing growth and development are still conventional in the form of paper base, can only be used by health workers, and cannot be accessed by families so it would be less effective in early detection of disorders of child development. This study aimed to evaluate instruments for assessing the growth and development of children aged 0-3 years. The research design is descriptive with a Research and Development approach. This research was conducted in four villages in the Working Area of Puskesmas III Kintamani in August-September 2022. Data was collected by evaluating 284 growth and development assessment forms and Focus Group Discussions attended by seven mothers with children aged 0-3 years. The results showed that six elements in the growth and development assessment form were not found, namely the elements of the instrument usage guide, parental knowledge, assessment parameters, early detection of growth and development scores, management algorithms according to scores and health education about child growth and development. Meanwhile, there were 10 elements found but not appropriate in the child development assessment form. Participants in the Focus Group Discussion have provided input, so it is necessary to continue preparing strategic issues and consulting experts.

Abstract

Clinical practice is a pivotal requirement in nursing education to shape professional nurses. The Covid-19 pandemic has interfered with the effectiveness of clinical practice processes. Yet it must be a starting point to create a better clinical learning environment. The aim of this study is to explore the experiences of nursing students in engaging clinical practice in the era of post Covid-19 pandemic. A descriptive phenomenological approach was used to collect data from individual in-depth interviews from 18 March to 10 April 2023 using purposive sampling technique. Ten nursing students were interviewed in depth and audio-recordings were transcribed verbatim. Colaizzi's seven-step descriptive phenomenological methodology served as the basis for data analysis. Lincoln and Guba criteria were applied to assure the trustworthiness of this study. Four main themes were generated: initial feeling of clinical practice in post Covid-19 era, challenges in theory-practice gap, clinical practice environment, grateful for the opportunity to conduct clinical practice offline. The findings of this study are useful for nursing education together with the clinical field to facilitate a supportive clinical learning environment to enhance clinical engagement of nursing students. There is a need for scrutinizing factors that hinder or enhance the clinical learning process of nursing students. Studies on what makes nursing education and clinical fields involve deeply in students' clinical practice and learning while others do not are also pertinent.

Abstract

Peripheral artery disease is more common in people with diabetes. This chronic complication leads to disruption of peripheral blood vessel flow, thus raising the problem of the ineffectiveness of peripherial tissue perfusion Epidemiological evidence suggests a link between diabetes mellitus and an increased prevalence of perifer arterial disease. Capillary refill time (CRT) is performed quickly on the base area of the nail to monitor dehydration and the amount of blood flow to the tissue.  Objectives The study of this case study to obtain an overview of the Buerger Allen Exercise Movement on Capillary Refill Time (CRT) values in patients with type 2 diabetes. Research design used with a case study approach (single case) by expressing the results of observations and documentation on the value of Capilarry Refill Time after the client performed the Buerger Allen Exercise. Subject in this case study there are 5 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 who do not have foot injuries and are willing to do buerger movement allen exercise in the work area of UPTD Puskesmas Bekasi Jaya. After the client performed the Buerger Allen exercise for 6 days in a row for 18 minutes each day, the result of the change occurred before and after the Buerker Allen exercise, the capillary refill time was shortened in the type 2 diabetes client. For patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus can perform buerger allen exercise independently and effectively against the effectiveness of peripheral tissue perfusion showing changes in capillary refill time values. (CRT).

Abstract

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) in Indonesia has increased significantly. Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease reported to be suffered by some Covid-19 patients. DM patient non-compliance in implementing the five pillars results in an increased risk of complications, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine the adherence of type II DM patients in the management of the five pillars of DM. This study used a descriptive analytic cross sectional approach. The sampling technique was total sampling, namely type II DM sufferers who visited Posbindu in the work area of the Solok City Health Center in the last 3 months involving 65 people, the instrument used was a questionnaire with diet variables, taking medication, doing physical activity, education and controlling blood sugar. The results showed that medication adherence, diet, education and blood sugar control had a significant relationship with blood sugar levels with a p value of less than 0.05. It turned out that what was most dominantly related to blood sugar levels was the regularity of taking medication with (p value 0,002) OR= 72,500. This non-compliance is because the client perceives that blood sugar that is not normal means that he has recovered from DM. It is hoped that diabetes mellitus clients can understand the importance of implementing DM management. There is a policy from the Health Service involving family members to care for, so that the five pillars of management of DM can be implemented properly, so that DM patients can live a life without complications.

Abstract

Human Development Cadres have a strategic role in supporting the long-term care of stunted children in the community. However, suboptimal perceptions, self-efficacy, and readiness of cadres often become obstacles in carrying out the duties of human development cadres. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a home visit-based training program on the perceptions, self-efficacy and readiness of Human Development Cadres in the long-term care of children with stunting. This study used a pre-experimental design with pretest-posttest one group only on 30 Human Development Cadres in the Puskesmas of Kintamani III (March-September 2024). The home visit-based training program included material on stunting, nutrition, health, and community empowerment. Perceptions, self-efficacy, and readiness of Human Development Cadres were measured before and after the intervention using instruments developed based on the detailed tasks of Human Development Cadres. Paired t-test was used to analyze the data. The results showed significant differences in perception, self-efficacy, and readiness (p0,001). The home visit-based training program has a significant effect on improving perceptions, self-efficacy and readiness of Human Development Cadres in the long-term care of children with stunting. The home visit-based training program needs to be part of routine interventions in empowering Human Development Cadres, especially to support the long-term care of children with stunting.

Abstract

Anemia is one of the global health problems, particularly among adolescent girls, and remains a critical issue in Indonesia. Anemia in adolescent girls can cause anemia which hurts health, academic achievement, and productivity. The government has implemented the Iron Supplement Tablet (TTD) program to reduce anemia and stunting rates. However, its implementation has not been optimal due to the low compliance among adolescents in consuming TTD. One contributing factor is the low level of self-efficacy. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using the Telegram platform on self-efficacy in consuming TTD among female students at SMPN 6 Denpasar. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 60 respondents were selected using stratified random sampling. The independent variable was health education via Telegram, while the dependent variable was self-efficacy. The instrument used was a self-efficacy questionnaire, which had been tested for validity and reliability. The intervention was delivered once via Telegram Bot for 30 minutes. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed a p-value of 0,000 (0,05), indicating a significant effect of health education via Telegram on adolescents' self-efficacy in consuming TTD. Telegram is proven to be an effective educational medium to enhance self-efficacy and improve TTD consumption compliance among adolescent girls.
