Abstract

Low cardiorespiratory endurance in young adults is associated with the development of cardiovascular disease risk factors in middle age. Training cardiovascular endurance and producing good endurance means that a person will not easily experience an increase in blood pressure because his fitness has been trained. Brisk Walking Exercise is a technique of fast walking for 30 minutes at a speed of 4-6 km/h. This exercise is quite effective for improving maximum heart rate capacity, stimulating muscle contraction, glycogen breakdown, and increased tissue oxygen. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of brisk walking exercise on cardiorespiratory endurance in patients with hypertension. The research design is a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The analyses used are the wilcoxon test and the mann-whitney test. The research results obtained based on the wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0,000 (0,05) in the treatment group, which indicates a significant difference in VO2 max values before and after the brisk walking exercise intervention. Meanwhile, the control group had a p-value of 0,011 which means there is no significant difference in VO2max values between the first measurement and the second measurement. Based on the Mann-Whitney test, the p-value 0,000 (0,05), which means there is an influence of brisk walking exercise on cardiorespiratory endurance (VO2max) in patients with hypertension. Brisk walking exercise can be an alternative complementary therapy that can increase cardiopulmonary functional capacity (VO2max) in hypertension sufferers.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of toddlers who experience growth failure due to chronic malnutrition, toddlers become short for their age. One of the risk factors for stunting is the lack of nutritional intake of toddlers, including exclusive breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding can help prevent stunting. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Tista Village, the working area of the Abang I Karangasem Health Center in 2023. The type of research used in this study was non-experimental with a correlational research design and cross sectionalapproach using non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The sample size was 128 respondents. Data collection using exclusive breastfeeding questionnaires and anthropometry. The results showed that most mothers who had toddlers in Tista Village had exclusive breastfeeding as much as 85.2%. Most of the toddlers in Tista Village were with normal nutritional status 71.9%, followed by short nutritional status 19.5%, and very short nutritional status 8.6%. Hypothesis testing using the contingency coefficient test with a value of p=0.000 (?=0.05) and a value of r=0.439, it was concluded that there was a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Tista Village, the working area of the Abang I Karangasem Health Center in 2023. It is expected that mothers need to get health education about stunting, the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, and other factors that are at risk of stunting.

Abstract

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) continues to increase and is even predicted to continue to increase, as does Indonesia, which is currently the country with the highest prevalence of DM in Southeast Asia. The most common type of DM currently is type 2 DM, the majority of which is caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, causing insulin resistance. Apart from causing diabetes, insulin resistance also causes dyslipidemia and is one of the most important factors in the occurrence of atherosclerosis which has an impact on the emergence of diabetic ulcers. This study aimed to determine the lipid profile in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The research design used was descriptive with an observational approach. The variable observed in this study was the lipid profile in type 2 DM patients. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a sample size of 47 people. The instrument used is a documentation sheet. The research was conducted at the Klungkung Regional General Hospital (RSUD). The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the data was then presented in a table. The results of the study showed that the total cholesterol value in type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers with total cholesterol values above 200 mg/dL was 26,4%, and the LDL value in type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers with values above 100 mg/dL was 26,3%. The HDL value in type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers with a value of less than 40 is 13,0%, and the triglyceride value in type 2 diabetes mellitus sufferers with a value of more than 150 mg/dL is 26,1%. Most respondents have a good lipid profile, but there are still respondents whose lipid profile is not within the normal range and are at risk of developing diabetic ulcers.

Abstract

Bullying remains a serious problem in elementary schools and has a negative impact on students’ psychological health as well as their social relationships. Low levels of knowledge and response toward this behavior contribute to its high incidence. This study targeted fifth- and sixth-grade students at MI Muhammadiyah Dukuhturi, Bumiayu, Brebes, because at this age social interactions become increasingly complex, heightening the risk of both perpetrating and experiencing bullying. Effective prevention requires engaging and easily understood education, one of which is health education delivered through animated video that conveys information interactively. This research employed a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one group pretest–posttest approach. The entire population of 40 students was included as the sample using a total sampling technique because the population size was relatively small and the researchers aimed to obtain a comprehensive picture without inaccuracy from selecting only part of the respondents. The research instrument consisted of a knowledge and attitude questionnaire, while the intervention was carried out by screening an educational animated video of approximately four minutes’ duration, presented once in a scheduled session during a single learning activity. Data analyzed with a paired t-test showed an increase in mean knowledge scores from 29.65 to 35.62 and in attitude scores from 57,97 to 89,05, both with p = 0,0001 (p 0,05). These findings confirm that health education using animated video is effective in improving students’ knowledge and fostering positive attitudes toward bullying, making it a suitable and interactive educational method for bullying prevention in elementary schools. In line with these findings, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education using animated video media on students’ knowledge and attitudes about bullying at MI Muhammadiyah Dukuhturi, Bumiayu.

Abstract

Normal childbirth is a physiological process that can cause pressure on the perineal tissue, so that episiotomy is often required to prevent more severe tears, episiotomy can also cause pain that interferes with the comfort and recovery process of the mother. Pain due to episiotomy if not handled properly can inhibit early mobilization, prolong healing time, reduce sleep quality, and affect the bond between mother and baby. This study aims to determine the effect of cold compresses in reducing the pain scale in post-episiotomy mothers. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-posttest design approach, this study was conducted at the Sahara inpatient primary clinic in Pasuruan City, the population in this study were all mothers who had normal deliveries and underwent episiotomy, with a sample size of n=20 responden. The inclusion criteria in this study were postpartum mothers on day 1 to day 3 who experienced pain due to episiotomy, were willing to participate in the intervention, and had no contraindications to cold therapy. Pain measurements were carried out using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and were measured before and after the intervention. Data analysis using a chi-square test showed a p-value of 0,011 (p0,05) indicating a significant difference between before and after the intervention. These findings demonstrate that cold compresses effectively reduce post-episiotomy pain in mothers. This intervention can be a safe, easy-to-implement, and beneficial non-pharmacological therapy alternative in accelerating the recovery process and improving the quality of life of postpartum mothers.
