Abstract

Implementing project-based learning (PBL) in sports education has garnered interest as a novel approach to enhancing students' competencies and comprehension. This study examines the impact of project-based football instruction on the athletic abilities of physical education students. The study utilizes a quasi-experimental approach with 60 students allocated to an experimental group (PBL) and a control group (conventional learning). The evaluation emphasizes technical competencies (passing, dribbling, and shooting) and tactical comprehension, assessed via pre- and post-tests. The findings indicate that students in the experimental group exhibited a notable enhancement in technical skills (average increase of 28%, p < 0.05) and tactical comprehension (average increase of 32%, p < 0.05) relative to the control group. The findings demonstrate that project-based learning improves technical and tactical skills by involving students in collaborative, problem-solving tasks replicating real-game scenarios. In summary, project-based football teaching significantly enhances the athletic abilities of physical education pupils. The study advocates for incorporating Project-Based Learning (PBL) into football education curricula to enhance profound learning and skill development while encouraging creativity and collaboration.

In East Java, issues such as inadequate infrastructure, low athlete motivation, and insufficient coach competency hinder athletic performance. Purpose: The aim of this research is to analyze the coaching management to improve the management and performance of athletics. Methods: A systematic review was conducted using the PICO approach and PRISMA Flow diagram. Articles from 2019 to 2023 were sourced from Google Scholar using keywords like "manajemen pembinaan" AND "atletik" and "coaching management" AND "Athletic". From 340 articles, 11 met the criteria after screening. Results: The review of 11 articles resulted in 4 articles stated that the infrastructure was not met the standard yet, 6 articles indicated the low interest and motivation of athletes in training to improve their achievements in athletics, and 7 articles stated that there was a lack of competence, knowledge, skills, supervision or assistance from the coaches. Implication and Recommendations: Significant improvements are needed in East Java's athletic coaching management, particularly in upgrading sports facilities, providing coach training, enhancing athlete motivation, and strengthening management structures. Addressing these areas can improve athletic performance, foster talent development, and contribute to Indonesia's success in national and international sports. Purpose: To see the effect of mental imagery on Basic Tennis Forehand Groundstroke Skills. Methods: This research uses a quantitative approach, with a quasi-experimental design and pretest-posttest control group design techniques. This technique compares an experimental group that uses mental imagery and a control group that does not use mental imagery. The implementation of the research started from a pretest which was carried out before the treatment was applied. Then 4 weeks of training were carried out with the experimental group using mental imagery and the control group only doing conventional forehand groundstroke training without additional mental imagery. The data obtained was analyzed using the t-test statistical test to see whether there were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group before and after treatment. Analysis is carried out with the help of statistical software such as SPSS. Results: Basic Forehand Groundstroke Tennis Skills The group that received the mental imagery method was better than the control class. Conclusion: Based on the results of research that has carried out data processing and analysis, it can be concluded that Mental Imagery influences Mastery of Basic Forehand Groundstroke Skills in Field Tennis. This can be seen from the results of hit accuracy (towards a certain target); Hit strength (ball speed after being hit); The consistency of strokes (the number of strokes that managed to enter the opponent's playing area) was significantly different when compared to the group that did not use the mental imagery method. Implications and Recommendation: From the results of this research, mental imagery can be used as an alternative to train students taking tennis courses.

Abstract

Background: Early sports specialization is often driven by the pursuit of achieving elite performance levels at younger ages. However, growing concerns have emerged regarding the potential negative consequences of this specialization, particularly the increased risk of injuries and the potential for psychological burnout among young athletes. Purpose: The primary purpose of this study is to systematically review the current body of literature to assess the impact of early sports specialization on the risk of injury in young athletes. Method: A systematic literature search was conducted utilizing the Sage and PubMed databases to identify relevant studies published between 2019 and 2025.  To maintain a focus on youth athletes in competitive or elite settings, studies that centered on recreational athletes were excluded from the analysis. Result: Early sports specialization is associated with a higher risk of injury among young athletes. This increased risk particularly applies to overuse injuries, such as stress fractures, tendinopathies, and joint issues, and psychological burnout. Conversely, athletes who engaged in multiple sports throughout their developmental years demonstrated a significantly lower risk of injury and reported higher levels of enjoyment and motivation in their chosen sports. Implications and Recommendation: Importance of re-evaluating current practices in youth athletic development programs. Sports organizations, coaches, and parents should exercise caution in promoting early specialization among young athletes and instead support a more balanced approach to youth training. Delaying specialization until after puberty and encouraging participation in multiple sports can enhance motor skill development and reduce the risk of injuries.
