Abstract

Noncommunicable diseases may arise from risk factors established during adolescence, while awareness of early detection remains low because screening is often considered necessary only for adults. This community service activity aimed to increase adolescents’ interest in early detection screening for noncommunicable diseases through health education. The activity involved 31 eleventh-grade health students at SMK ICB Cinta Teknika and used classroom counseling supported by PowerPoint and posters. Students’ interest was assessed before and after education. Before the activity, only two female students were interested, while no male students expressed interest. After the intervention, 27 students were willing to undergo screening, comprising two male and 25 female students, whereas two female students remained uninterested. These findings indicate that health education can increase adolescents’ interest in early detection of noncommunicable diseases and support school-based promotive and preventive strategies.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to analyze the optimization of waste utilization as a source of sustainable economic value from an Islamic economic perspective. This study was conducted on the community of Puri Hutama Housing in East Bekasi who face problems of low awareness of waste sorting, suboptimal waste bank management, and limitations in the development of recycling-based businesses. The method of implementing the activity included a needs survey, module preparation, face-to-face training and counseling, interactive discussions, and evaluation through questionnaires of 25 respondents. The results showed a significant increase in people's understanding and motivation, with 96% of respondents stating that the material was easy to understand and 92% realizing the importance of environmental management from an Islamic perspective. From an Islamic economic perspective, the use of waste is not only economically valuable but also reflects the implementation of the principles of sharia maqashid, especially in protecting the environment (hifdz al-bi'ah) and community welfare (maslahah). Therefore, community-based waste management can be a model of sustainable economic empowerment that is integrative between economic, social, and spiritual aspects.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the low level of knowledge and skills among the community, especially women's religious study groups, in conducting funeral rites. Many people consider funeral rites to be a fardhu kifayah (collective obligation) that only needs to be performed by some people, so these skills are not widely possessed. This activity aims to increase participants' knowledge and understanding of funeral procedures through a demonstration method combined with role play, discussion, and audio-visual media. The training was held at the Al-Mujahadah Mosque, Sialangmunggu Village, with 63 participants consisting of women who are members of the majelis taklim. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests, post-tests, and hands-on practice. The results of the activity showed that the demonstration method was very effective in improving participants' understanding and skills related to funeral practices. Participants were able to independently practice bathing, shrouding, and praying for the deceased. This activity also fostered participants' confidence and social responsibility to be directly involved in funeral arrangements in their respective neighborhoods.

Abstract

Health promotion is often hampered by the phenomenon of digital fatigue and the gap in pedagogical competence of health students in reducing complex medical terminology into lay language. This community service aims to empower health students through the reactualization of interactive analog displays as an alternative instrument for inclusive community education. Adopting the participatory action learning method, it was constructed in four stages: dissemination, workshops, clinical simulations, and implementation in three secondary education institutions in Blitar City. The intervention results indicated a comprehensive escalation in the cognitive and psychomotor domains of participants, as evidenced by the successful engineering of infrastructure-friendly dynamic manual display instruments, fabrication cost efficiency and mobilization portability. Clinical understanding skills with basic instructional design principles through interactive analog media have proven to be able to bridge the epistemological disparity between health workers and the community and produce health cadres who are resilient, communicative, and adaptive to infrastructure.

Abstract

Community health centers (Puskesmas) serve as frontline healthcare facilities that interact directly with the public; consequently, the quality of service provided influences public trust in government health institutions. This community service initiative aimed to enhance service quality at the Linggarjati Community Health Center (UPTD Puskesmas Linggarjati) and thereby increase patient satisfaction. The activities involved interpersonal communication with staff, the use of leaflets covering excellent service and the 5S methodology, and the creation of 5S-themed posters and banners to deepen staff understanding of how these concepts improve service quality. The results demonstrated an increase in patient satisfaction from 73.0% to 87.6%—a rise of 14.6 percentage points. Thus, the implementation of the 5S culture proved effective in improving service quality at the center. These efforts are expected to foster a service culture that is professional, humane, and patient-satisfaction-oriented, ensuring continued improvement in the quality of healthcare services at the Linggarjati Community Health Center.

Abstract

Farmers’ dependence on inorganic fertilizers in crop cultivation remains high, leading to increased agricultural production costs and a gradual decline in soil quality and fertility over time. Meanwhile, Dana Village, Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, has abundant local waste resources, including crop residues, leaves, livestock manure, and household kitchen waste, which have not been optimally utilized. These materials have the potential to be processed into solid and liquid organic fertilizers that can improve soil fertility and enhance crop productivity. This Community Service Program aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and skills through training on the production of solid and liquid organic fertilizers based on local waste as an alternative to inorganic fertilizers. The program was implemented through lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice. The results showed increased farmers’ understanding, technical skills, and interest in independently producing and applying organic fertilizers. This activity is expected to be an initial step toward strengthening farmer self-reliance and promoting environmentally friendly agricultural waste management.

Abstract

Improving public health can be achieved by exploring the potential of local resources, including Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) in the field or yard of the house. The importance of TOGA benefits is not commensurate with the community's knowledge of how to use them. This community service activity aims to increase public awareness of TOGA use and to improve the economic situation of Mendala Village residents after the disaster. The methods in this community service include administering a pretest, providing educational materials on TOGA use, conducting discussions and question-and-answer sessions, and concluding with a posttest. The target audience for this community service activity includes housewives with educational levels ranging from junior high school to a bachelor's degree, totaling 14 participants. The results of the Wilcoxon analysis showed a significant difference between pre- and post-education in TOGA use, with an average increase in knowledge from 75.00 to 92.86. The results of this community service indicate that education based on local potential can benefit the community by enabling the development of existing resources into economic value.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum requires Early Childhood Education (PAUD) teachers to develop the ability to design flexible, contextual, and child-centered learning through the development of Daily Lesson Plans (RPPH). However, in practice, teachers still experience difficulties in understanding the concept and implementation of RPPH based on the Independent Curriculum. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve teachers' competency in developing RPPH through mentoring activities at Al-Muttaqin PAUD. The methods used were training, workshops, and intensive mentoring, actively involving teachers in the RPPH design process. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the activity showed an increase in teachers' understanding of the Independent Curriculum concept and their skills in developing RPPH that are more systematic, contextual, and appropriate to the characteristics of early childhood. Furthermore, teachers became more creative in developing child-centered learning activities. Thus, this mentoring activity was effective in improving the professionalism of PAUD teachers and the quality of lesson planning.
