Abstract

This study examined the integration of Indonesian language and literature learning within the context of Merdeka Curriculum implementation at the secondary school level as a strategy to strengthen students’ literacy and cultural appreciation. The main objective of this research is to understand the extent to which an integrative approach can improve the quality of learning that is not only cognitively oriented but also affective and cultural in nature. The subjects of this research consist of 20 scholarly articles selected through purposive sampling based on their relevance to the topic and the publication period between 2015 and 2025. The characteristics of the literature encompass perspectives on educational policy, pedagogical strategies, and empirical studies involving junior and senior high school students from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, with documentation techniques for data collection and thematic analysis to identify patterns, trends, and conceptual contributions from each source. The findings indicate that integrating language and literature learning significantly enhances students' literacy skills, broadens their cultural insights, and creates more reflective and meaningful learning experiences. Learning strategies that combine literary texts and language practice foster students' critical thinking, empathy, and appreciation of literature as well as real-life contexts. These findings confirm that the integration of language and literature not only substantively strengthens the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum but also contributes to the formation of the Pancasila Student Profile. As an implication, this approach needs to be further developed through teacher training, the provision of contextual learning media, and educational policies that support holistic and transformative teaching practices.

Abstract

Chinese investment has become the subject of ongoing debates in international political economy studies. In general, scholars argue that the benefits of Chinese investment not only depend on the relationship between China and host countries but also on various state capacities. Using a case study approach, this paper aims to contribute with other scholars to understand Chinese investment patterns in third-world countries, especially Indonesia. The volume of Chinese investment in Indonesia has increased significantly in recent years. This study will focus on understanding Chinese investment patterns in infrastructure in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Lombok Island. This project received a loan through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) of 692 million dollars during 2019-2024. This paper argues that Chinese investment has contributed to complex policy-making dynamics at the national and sub-national levels.

Abstract

Politeness strategy is a technique used by someone to speak more courteously. Conversations in a daily life and arguments often use polite communication strategies. The 2024 presidential and vice-presidential debates are the debates that are interesting to investigate in this study. This study aims to characterize the politeness strategies employed by Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD during the presidential and vice-presidential debates. This study employed the politeness strategies developed by Brown and Levinson (1978), which categorizes politeness strategies into four types: Off Record (OR), Bald-On Record (BOR), Positive Politeness (PP), and Negative Politeness (NP). The findings of this study show that in the presidential and vice-presidential debates, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD employ three different kinds of politeness strategies. The most prominent politeness strategy is Positive Politeness (56.5%). Other politeness strategies are Bald-On Record (30.4%) and Negative Politeness (13%). It can be concluded that Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD mostly use Positive Politeness in delivering their speech for presidential and vice-presidential debates.

Abstract

This study investigates the writing difficulties experienced by students with dysgraphia and evaluates the effectiveness of Word Board media as an instructional intervention. The objective of this research is to identify specific patterns of writing challenges among students with dysgraphia and to assess the impact of a multisensory teaching tool in overcoming those challenges. The study involved 20 students from MI Al-Hidayah and MIS Nurul Asyrof, consisting of 10 students from grade 2 and 10 from grade 3. The participants were selected using purposive sampling based on signs of writing difficulties. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using classroom observation, interviews, and document analysis for data collection, while thematic analysis was used to interpret the findings. The results revealed consistent issues such as confusion between visually similar letters (e.g., "b" and "d"), substitution of letters with numbers (e.g., "s" as "5"), irregular spacing, inconsistent capitalization, and letter reversal. After a four-week intervention using Word Board media, students demonstrated improvements in letter differentiation, spacing, motor coordination, and writing confidence. These findings suggest that Word Board media is a practical, low-tech, and inclusive solution for supporting literacy development among students with learning difficulties. The study contributes to the fields of educational psychology and inclusive education by emphasizing the importance of multisensory teaching strategies in early literacy instruction.

Abstract

Generation Business Unit (UBP) Grati, a Gas and Steam Power Plant (PLTGU) located in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, had consistently surpassed its unit performance targets until a notable decline was observed in the first half of 2025. This study aims to investigate the factors contributing to this decline, explicitly focusing on the influence of organizational commitment and motivation on employee performance, with job satisfaction serving as a mediating factor. The research centers on the contract-based workforce (PKWT) at UBP Grati, which constitutes a substantial 47% of the total workforce. Employing a quantitative approach, the study's population consisted of these contract workers, from which a sample of 142 respondents was selected through purposive sampling. Data collection involved questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, with analysis conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 3.2.9. The findings indicate that organizational commitment and job satisfaction have direct and significant impacts on employee performance. However, motivation does not exhibit a significant direct effect on performance. Notably, the results demonstrate that both organizational commitment and motivation exert important indirect effects on employee performance when mediated by job satisfaction. These findings emphasize the vital role of job satisfaction in transforming both commitment and motivation into enhanced performance for contract workers at UBP Grati.

Abstract

This article explores how renowned Islamic preacher Gus Baha promotes the use of polite language by drawing on timeless Qur’anic guidance. Using a qualitative approach that combines an extensive literature review with content analysis, we examine ten specific examples from his teachings and compare them with key Qur’anic principles. Our analysis reveals that practices such as warm greetings, respectful titles, gentle word choices, and constructive feedback not only mirror the ethical values embedded in the Qur’an but also serve as practical strategies for building stronger, more caring communities. Furthermore, the study discusses how these traditional ethical frameworks can address modern communication challenges, particularly in our fast-paced and diverse digital world. By emphasizing respectful dialogue and empathetic interaction, the findings suggest that the deliberate use of polite language can significantly enhance interpersonal relationships and foster greater social harmony. Ultimately, this research provides practical insights into how the thoughtful application of respectful language, as advocated by Gus Baha, can contribute to a more inclusive and interconnected society.
