Abstract

This study explores the leadership management strategies employed by the principal of MAN 1 Banyuasin in improving the performance quality of educators. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and education staff. The findings reveal that the principal implements the POAC management functions, namely planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. Planning involves designing work programs and identifying teachers’ needs, while organizing is carried out by delegating tasks according to competencies. Actuating is realized through motivation, training, and mentoring, whereas controlling is conducted via routine supervision and evaluation. Despite these efforts, several challenges remain, including limited funding, administrative workload, and teachers’ varying levels of technological literacy. To address these issues, the principal introduced creative solutions such as optimizing online training, mentoring systems, and adjusting task distribution. The study highlights that a participatory and transformational leadership style fosters collaboration, enhances teacher professionalism, and creates a conducive work culture. However, it also indicates that evaluation mechanisms remain largely administrative and teacher involvement in decision-making is limited, which may restrict innovation. Overall, the findings emphasize that effective leadership strategies not only contribute to teacher performance improvement but also directly enhance the quality of teaching and learning in madrasah-based education. The study further suggests the need for a more holistic, integrative, and participatory leadership model to meet the challenges of dynamic educational reforms.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the principal's leadership management strategy in improving the quality of educator performance at SDN 15 Banyuasin III. The study focuses on the principal's actions in managing school resources, distributing teacher workloads fairly, and empowering teachers to improve professionalism and learning quality. This study uses a qualitative method with a naturalistic descriptive approach. The research subjects comprised one principal and 12 teachers who served as key informants. The data was collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation for 1 month (December 20, 2024–January 20, 2025), and analysis of school documents. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of leadership strategies applied. The results show that the principal applies a transformational and participatory leadership style by conducting routine training at least twice a semester, conducting academic supervision every month, providing constructive feedback after the learning process, and empowering teachers through personal mentoring. The main obstacles faced include limited technology-based learning facilities, high teacher administrative workloads, and resistance from some teachers to change. However, principals can overcome these challenges through adaptive strategies, such as collaborating with the school committee, flexibly dividing tasks, and optimizing the school budget. These findings confirm that effective principal leadership is crucial in creating a productive work environment and driving sustainable improvements in educator performance.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of principal leadership and motivation on teacher work discipline at Public Elementary School 243 Palembang. Teacher discipline is a crucial factor in improving the quality of education, as effective leadership and strong motivation are believed to foster more consistent work discipline. A quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving a total sample of 45 teachers selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability (? = 0.89). Multiple linear regression was used for data analysis. The results revealed that principal leadership had a significant effect on teacher work discipline (? = 0.412; p = 0.003), while motivation from the principal also had a significant effect (? = 0.367; p = 0.008). Taken together, leadership and motivation significantly contributed to teacher discipline, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.612. This indicates that 61.2% of the variation in teacher work discipline is explained by principal leadership and motivation, while the remaining 38.8% is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study. These findings suggest that participatory leadership combined with motivation strategies emphasizing rewards and coaching can substantially enhance teacher discipline. The study offers practical implications for elementary school management, particularly highlighting the importance of inspirational leadership and continuous motivation in fostering a sustainable culture of discipline within the school environment.

Abstract

This research examined the effect of using a language game approach on developing Indonesian speaking skills among students at PG-TK Plus Sutomo 1, Medan. This study was designed using an experimental method using a pretest-posttest format with a control group. The research data showed a significant improvement in students' speaking skills in the experimental group, with an average pretest score of 61.2, which increased to 77.5 after the posttest. The Paired Sample T-Test obtained a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), while the Independent Sample T-Test obtained a significance value of 0.025 (p < 0.05). These results confirm that applying language game techniques significantly improves students' speaking skills. Although the effect size is relatively small (Cohen's d = 0.2), this finding indicates that the influence of language games on improving speaking skills is still limited in practice. However, applying this technique remains relevant because it fosters speaking courage, enriches vocabulary, and encourages active student involvement. It can also serve as a basis for further studies using a larger and more diverse sample range. This study concludes that the language game strategy is a practical approach to improving and developing students' Indonesian oral communication skills at PG-TK Plus Sutomo 1 Medan. Although the effects are relatively small in practical terms, this strategy is still beneficial in building speaking confidence, enriching vocabulary, and increasing active student participation. The implications of these findings suggest the need for further research with a larger sample size to more fully demonstrate the influence of language games on speaking skills.

Abstract

The ability of 11th-grade students of MPLB SMK Negeri 1 Padang Panjang in dealing with economics-business problems is still low, as evidenced by only 11.5% being able to achieve completion in the 2023/2024 MID Exam. This condition prompted an experimental study aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the Means-Ends Analysis (MEA) learning model compared to conventional methods commonly used. This study used a Nonequivalent Control Group Design with a total of 68 students, divided into two classes: an experimental class that received MEA-based learning and a control class that continued to use traditional methods. Research data were collected through initial tests (pre-test) and final tests (post-test), then analysed using a paired sample t-test assisted by SPSS. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental class with an average post-test score reaching 71.65 (an increase of 22.5 points), while the control class only increased slightly to 50.88. The significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 strengthens the evidence that MEA is more effective than conventional methods. Thus, the implementation of the MEA model has been proven not only to improve learning outcomes but also to foster students' problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity. Theoretically, this research enriches the literature on the application of MEA to vocational learning; practically, it provides an alternative, innovative strategy for vocational high school teachers; and politically, it aligns with the spirit of the Independent Curriculum, which emphasises active, collaborative, and student-centred learning.

Abstract

Students in higher education often face dual academic and non-academic demands, which require the ability to manage time, energy, and responsibilities in a balanced manner. The inability to set priorities often triggers academic procrastination, namely the tendency to delay completing college assignments, which results in decreased academic achievement. Therefore, students need to have a clear scale of priorities to balance college activities with organisational involvement or other additional activities. One concrete form of this priority scale is goal setting, which plays a role in helping students formulate goals, manage responsibilities, and minimise academic procrastination behaviour. This study aims to analyse the effect of goal setting on the academic procrastination of students who participate in organisations. The method used in this study is quantitative with a type of influence research. The sample consisted of 280 students involved in organisations and was selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were analysed using simple linear regression. Based on the simple regression analysis results, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This indicates that goal setting (X) affects academic procrastination (Y) in students who participate in organisations. This is supported by the F-count value of 222.019 with a significance level of 0.001, which means it is less than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that goal setting (X) influences academic procrastination (Y).
