Abstract

Marine debris is a critical global environmental issue, with severe impacts on coastal ecosystems, economies, and communities. This study integrates bibliometric analysis and a localized case study in Pancana Village to examine the sources, impacts, and management of marine debris. Bibliometric trends from 2000 to 2023 reveal an exponential growth in research, with focus areas including microplastics, policy interventions, and community-based waste management. Observations in Pancana identify land-based waste, particularly plastic, as the primary pollutant, contributing 78% of debris, and microplastics infiltrating marine food chains. The economic repercussions include declining coastal tourism and reduced fish stocks. The study highlights a lack of awareness, inadequate waste infrastructure, and limited policy enforcement as key challenges. However, grassroots initiatives and the role of social institutions offer promising avenues for sustainable practices. This research underscores the necessity of interdisciplinary approaches, policy innovation, and community engagement to tackle marine debris effectively, serving as a model for similar coastal regions globally.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Good Governance principles in the Muhammadiyah Paciran Modern Islamic Boarding School, focusing on the aspects of transparency, accountability, social responsibility, independence, and equality in the distribution of resources. The research method used is a case study with in-depth interviews with pesantren managers, guardians of students, and other related parties. The results of the study show that pesantren has implemented the principle of transparency through various communication channels, although there are challenges related to technology accessibility for some parties. In addition, accountability in financial management is also pursued with internal audits, but external auditors have not been involved to ensure objectivity. Islamic boarding schools are also active in social activities for the community, although they are still faced with obstacles to program sustainability. The independence of Islamic boarding schools in funding has begun to be pursued by diversifying sources of income, but it still requires more careful planning. The principle of equality in the distribution of resources has been implemented, but there are several complaints related to inequality. This research suggests that Islamic boarding schools strengthen their internal capacity, utilize digital technology, and involve external auditors to increase accountability and transparency.

Abstract

Since its inception, the concept of Islamization of science has attracted the attention of many scholars to discuss. Muslim scholars who support this idea argue that science needs to be reintegrated with Islamic values. This is due to the view that current science has been influenced by western ideologies and philosophies that are contrary to Islamic teachings. Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas is one of the main figures who consistently promotes this idea. He seeks to return science to its axiological framework, namely as a means that is not only oriented towards material progress, but also to moral and spiritual benefits. According to him, science that develops without the guidance of religious values risks bringing damage, rather than benefit, to humanity.

Abstract

Research on evaluation instruments in Vocational High Schools (SMK) indicates a varied pattern. Nevertheless, there has been limited study and evaluation of the information provided in the research. This study seeks to examine research trends on the development of assessment instruments in SMK, based on published articles from 2019 to 2024, with a primary emphasis on the development of these instruments. The methodology employed is a literature review. This study involved a literature evaluation of 25 publications regarding developing assessment tools from various Indonesian journals, utilizing Publish or Perish and Google Scholar for data collection. The research indicated a decline in the number of studies addressing the creation of evaluation tools in vocational schools from 2019 to 2024. The R&D model is the predominant development model. Instruments for assessing knowledge are predominantly created. The creation of HOTS-based assessment tools exhibits a nearly equitable distribution. Moreover, the creation of evaluation tools predominantly lacks technological platforms.
