Abstract

This community service program aims to improve students' understanding of communication skills in the workplace, particularly in CV creation and copywriting. This activity was motivated by students' lack of understanding of the importance of a professional CV and limited insight into copywriting as a career-supporting skill. The method used in this activity included a pre-test to measure participants' initial understanding, material presentation, a hands-on practice session, and a post-test to evaluate their understanding. This activity involved 36 Visual Communication Design (DKV) students and took place in the SMKN 1 Martapura Computer Lab on November 26, 2024. The results of this activity showed a 2.65% increase in student understanding based on the post-test results compared to the pre-test. The majority of participants were able to understand the basic concepts of copywriting and effective CV preparation, although some students still needed further study. This evaluation allowed the community service team to adjust the learning approach to be more effective. In conclusion, this outreach activity successfully improved students' communication skills and is expected to provide them with the necessary skills to face the world of work. Furthermore, it is hoped that this community service program can continue to provide broader benefits to students and academics.

Abstract

The technology-based ecotourism quality improvement program aims to improve the quality of ecotourism in Karawang Regency by integrating information technology into the Tourism Awareness Village Groups (Pokdarwis), utilizing digital media as a promotional tool. This community engagement program was initiated to address the challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) in Cibereum Village, Karawang. While having strong potential, the program's implementation method involves conducting training covering digital marketing materials, creative content creation, social media management, and the use of Android-based applications. The results of this activity indicate an increase in the capacity of Pokdarwis to independently manage and promote their ecotourism destinations. The use of technology not only opens new economic opportunities but also encourages the creativity and independence of Pokdarwis in developing the tourism potential of their villages. Thus, this program contributes to the creation of a more modern, integrated, and sustainable ecotourism in Karawang Regency. In agriculture, handicrafts, and ecotourism, local communities face challenges such as limited branding, weak digital literacy, and unstructured management of tourism activities. These obstacles hamper market expansion and reduce the competitiveness of MSMEs and local ecotourism. To address these issues, an integrative approach was implemented by combining MSME digitalization with strengthening community-based ecotourism. This program was implemented through several stages, including participatory problem identification, integrated solution design, capacity building, technology introduction, and evaluation. Activities included creating visual identities and digital promotional tools for MSMEs, digital literacy training for villagers, and mentoring Pokdarwis (tourism groups) in managing environmentally friendly tourism. Additionally, appropriate technologies such as maggot cultivation were introduced as a solution for managing organic waste and providing alternative animal feed.

Abstract

The Nila Banjar Indah MSME has so far relied solely on conventional marketing, such as bazaars run by relevant agencies, to market its products, even though several of its competitors have embraced digital marketing. To compete, this MSME needs to develop digital marketing efforts, particularly on social media. Digital training was conducted as an effort to increase the marketing capacity of MSMEs in Nila Banjar Indah through the utilization of digital technology. During the activity, participants were given a basic understanding of the importance of digital marketing in the modern economic era, as well as practical training on the use of social media, marketplaces, and other digital tools to market processed tilapia products effectively. The extension activities consisted of 4 sessions, namely a pre-test, provision of materials and training, discussions, and a post-test. Before the extension activities were carried out, a pre-test was conducted with a pre-test calculation result of 31% and after the activities were carried out, a post-test was carried out with a calculation result of 69% which indicated that initially some participants did not know much about digital marketing. However, after the extension activities were carried out, several digital marketing tools were created in its implementation through FB, Instagram, and Tik Tok to expand the market. It is hoped that the creation of social media as a digital marketing tool will gradually increase the profits of the Nila Banjar Indah MSME by expanding its market share, which has previously relied solely on existing customers. This digital marketing strategy will help it compete with similar MSMEs and larger companies operating in the same area as the Nila Banjar Indah MSME.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an essential role in Indonesia’s economy, yet technological limitations often constrain productivity and competitiveness. D’Lor Bakery, located in Banyuwangi, previously relied on a conventional oven with limited capacity and uneven heat distribution, resulting in inconsistent product quality, high defect rates, and restricted production. To address these challenges, the Community Partnership Program (PKM) introduced a Gas Rotary Oven with automatic thermo control and gas leak detection. This innovation features a rotary rack system ensuring even heat distribution, a digital temperature control mechanism to stabilize baking conditions, and an MQ-5 sensor integrated with an automatic shut-off valve to enhance workplace safety. The implementation included design, training, and operational trials with a capacity of 56 trays per cycle. Results showed significant improvements: production capacity increased from 24 trays per cycle to 56 trays, with total output rising from 120 trays to 280 trays within five hours. Raw material processing also improved, from 10–15 kg of flour per cycle to 25–50 kg, while defective products decreased from 15–20% to 5–7%. Thermo control reduced temperature deviations by 15%, directly improving energy efficiency and lowering unit production costs. Economically, monthly revenue increased from IDR 4–5 million to IDR 8–12 million, with profit margins rising from 20% to 30%. Overall, the Gas Rotary Oven technology not only enhances productivity and consistency but also strengthens energy efficiency, product quality, and operational safety, making it a replicable solution for MSMEs in the bakery industry.

Abstract

Traditional milkfish pond management by the Sinar Bonto Manai Farmer Group in Pangkep Regency faces two main problems: difficulties in accurately monitoring water quality and limited electricity access, which hinders technology adoption. This community service program aimed to address these issues through the implementation of appropriate technology. The implementation method was designed participatively in four stages: (1) preparation and capacity building through training and seminars, (2) implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system integrated with a Solar Power Plant (PLTS), (3) mentoring on data utilization, and (4) evaluation. The results showed 100% partner participation with a significant increase in knowledge, with overall understanding rising from 33% in the pre-test to 95% in the post-test. The IoT-PLTS monitoring system, accessible via a smartphone application, was successfully installed and operated properly. Final evaluation revealed not only high partner satisfaction with the system’s functionality but also tangible improvements in pond productivity, including reduced risk of failure and more stable harvest outcomes. The main achievement of this program is the successful adoption of technology that transformed farmer’s work patterns from traditional intuition-based practices to proactive, data-driven management, thereby enhancing resilience and economic potential in milkfish aquaculture.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the quality of honey products produced by small-scale producers in Probolinggo by implementing the Dehydrated Honey Machine. The main problem faced by partners is the high moisture content in honey (28%), which exceeds the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 8664:2018) limit of less than 22%. High moisture content reduces shelf life, product quality, and market acceptance, especially in pharmacies and online stores. The program was conducted through participatory methods consisting of socialization, training, technology implementation, and monitoring-evaluation. The Dehydrated Honey Machine with a capacity of 15 liters per 3 hours was installed at the partner’s production site, followed by training on operation and maintenance. After implementation, the moisture content of honey decreased to 17–18%, in line with the standard requirements. This improvement has extended the shelf life of honey, increased the selling price, and reduced product rejection. The program demonstrates that appropriate technology transfer effectively enhances production quality and competitiveness of local honey producers.

Abstract

Household waste management remains a critical issue in Indonesia, with far-reaching impacts on the environment, public health, and socio-economic well-being. Rogojampi Village, Banyuwangi, is among the affected areas, as reflected in the accumulation of waste in the Dam Concrong River that leads to environmental degradation. This community engagement program was designed to empower local residents through a participatory approach to household waste management by integrating regulatory education, hands-on training, adoption of simple technologies, and continuous mentoring. The training focused on the production of bag compost, anaerobic bucket compost, local microorganisms (MOL), and eco-enzyme solutions, all of which were directly practiced by participants. The results indicated substantial improvements in community knowledge and technical capacity, as participants successfully transformed organic waste into valuable products such as compost, MOL biofertilizers, and eco-enzyme liquids for household and agricultural use. Furthermore, the program encouraged the establishment of a village waste management group and introduced the waste bank concept as a long-term sustainability strategy. Besides reducing organic waste accumulation, the initiative also created economic opportunities through the valorization of recyclable inorganic waste. In conclusion, the combination of participatory methods, MOL-based bioproducts, eco-enzyme technology, and continuous assistance proved effective in shifting community behavior from waste disposal to waste utilization, thereby contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
