Abstract

The integration of technology in Catholic religious education creates new opportunities as well as challenges that need to be overcome. This research aims to develop a Catholic religious education model that integrates digital technology effectively without sacrificing the traditional values taught. Through a literature study approach, this research analyzed various digital tools and platforms that could be used in Catholic religious education, while identifying challenges and opportunities in adopting this technology. The research results showed that technology had potential to enrich students' learning experiences and support spiritual development, while enabling more interactive and flexible learning. However, it was important to ensure that technology integration did not reduce the focus on the moral and spiritual formation of students. This transformation also reflected the church's adaptation to the digital era, ensuring the relevance of religious teachings in modern times, and has the potential to increase the involvement of the younger generation in church life. Thus, this change was predicted to have a positive impact on students' learning experiences and their involvement in church life.

Abstract

The research aims to understand parents' knowledge about the elements of moral education and the forms of moral education application to children concerning solidarity, justice, and honesty imparted by parents to realize bonum prolis as the goal of Catholic marriage. A descriptive qualitative approach is employed, utilizing interview, observation, and documentation methods. The research informants consist of nine parents with a marriage duration of 5–15 years. The study is conducted from December 2023 to March 2024. Data analysis involves technique triangulation and source triangulation. The results indicate that parents possess knowledge of the elements of moral education, such as mutual respect, helping one another, justice, and honesty. The application of moral education in solidarity includes avoiding harsh words, involving children in social activities, praying for friends, respecting those who worship, and teaching the words "sorry," "thank you," and "please." In terms of justice, parents habituate children to act responsibly, be fair, advise children on sharing, and teach fair decision-making. For honesty, parents instill it by avoiding exaggeration or omission of information, listening without judgment, appreciating honesty, and sharing positive stories about the child's patron saint.

Abstract

The low religious character of the students became a serious problem in the field of education. It's also found at the SMPN 3 Tanjung Bunga-East Flores. From this point of view, there is a need for the role of the personality competence of the teacher of Catholic Education to be able to improve and enhance the religious character of the student. The aim is to know how to improve the religious character of the students of SMPN 3 Tanjung Bunga through the competence of the personality of PAK teachers. Data collected through interviews, documentation and observations were analyzed through phases of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-making. The research was conducted from June to August 2024. The results of this study said that the religious character of students at SMPN 3 Tanjung Bunga could be improved through the personality competence of PAK teacher. Therefore, the teachers needed to understand their personality competencies and students should also improve their religious character through the personality competencies of PAK teachers. This research is expected to contribute to the field of education, particularly in enhancing the religious character of students through the personality competencies of Catholic religious education teachers.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the researcher's concern about educators who pay less attention to cognitive aspects and are less creative in carrying out the learning process in the classroom so that it affects the results of learning achievement. The purpose of this study is to examine the contribution of Jean Piaget's cognitive learning theory to student learning outcomes, especially in learning Catholic religious education at SD RK Mutiara Gunungsitoli. Qualitative research using a thematic approach was used as the research method. The research site and subjects were selected by targeted sampling. Data analysis was conducted in 3 stages: data reduction, data presentation and data validation. The theoretical foundation is based on the explanation of cognitive learning theory, the application of Catholicism in religious education and its contribution to the achievement of educational outcomes. Based on the research conducted, it was found that teachers apply cognitive learning theory to students. Teachers adhere to Catholic religious education learning strategies and teaching and learning methods to improve student learning outcomes. The application of cognitive learning theory from Jean Piaget contributes to the formation of intellectual or intellect, especially in learning achievement.

Abstract

This research specifically investigates how the implementation of the teacher’s code of ethics shapes student’s character and influences the academic achievements of students at Hinga Catholic Elementary School. The benefits of this research are that it can serve as a reference for future research and provide information regarding the implementation of the teacher’s code of ethics in shaping students’ character and its impact on academic achievements. A qualitative descriptive approach was used in this research. This study was conducted at Hinga Catholic Elementary School involving four key informants who were directly involved in the learning process. The research was conducted for 3 months, from February to April 2024. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted systematically using a qualitative data analysis model. The research results indicate a positive correlation between the application of the teacher’s code of ethics is crucial in efforts to develop students with noble character and high achievements. The results of this study are expected to the development of educational science, especially in the field of character education.

Abstract

This article examines the use of apocalyptic themes in the film *This is the End* and its impact on public understanding of the end times, with a focus on its relevance to Christian religious education. The film presents the apocalyptic theme through humor, offering an alternative approach that reduces the fear associated with the concept of doomsday. The methodology used film analysis and literature review to examine apocalyptic representations in popular culture and to compare them with the Christian eschatological concept that emphasizes hope and restoration. The study concluded that Christian religious education could leverage this approach to dismantle fear-based narratives in popular culture and foster a positive eschatological understanding. Thus, this approach contributes to the formation of critical attitudes and ethical reflection regarding individual roles and responsibilities in the world.

Abstract

This research is about how effort are made to improve learning outcomes, namely by implementing the students Teams-Achievment Divisions (STAD) Model in learning. The type of research is Classroom Action Reserach. The subject in this research were Catholic Religious Education teachers and class VI students at SDN 41 Sejotang, Sanggau Regency. Observation, dokumentation and test data collection tools. Data analysis technique was qualitative descriptive. The findings in the research were: the implementation of STAD model in PAK learning has gone well. This result showed from observation during the action that the teacher had implemented learning by following each step of STAD and the students responded positively as long as this model was implemented. The improvement was known by comparing the learning results in pre-action activities, namely the result achieved were 43.75%, indicating that students have not achieved the specified classical completeness, namely 67%. After the STAD was implemented, students learning outcomes began to increase in Cycle 1 with results of 62.5%. In Cycle 2 the learning outcomes have reached the specified indicators with the result of 81.25%

Abstract

This study explores digital literacy among prospective Catholic Religious Education (PKK) teachers concerning their ability to use electronic spreadsheet programs for simple grade processing. Using descriptive statistical analysis with 75 respondents, it was found that the average test score of the students was 55.51, with a high variance (170.388) and a standard deviation of 13.053. The analysis results showed that 16% of the students demonstrated low ability, 65.3% had moderate ability, and 18.7% showed high ability. These findings indicate a gap in technological literacy that needs to be addressed to enhance students' skills in educational data management. The recommended actions include intensive training, the use of peer tutoring methods, the integration of technology into lectures, and access to relevant digital resources. These efforts aim to create a collaborative learning environment and improve students' readiness to carry out administrative and teaching tasks in the future. This study emphasizes the importance of targeted interventions in teaching and technology training to optimize digital literacy among prospective teachers.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of cybernetic learning theory as proposed by Landa in the context of Catholic Religious Education. Cybernetic learning theory focuses on how individuals process and manage information during the learning process, dividing thinking into two types: structured and systematic thinking, and heuristic, creative thinking. This approach aims to encourage deep and flexible learning, especially in religious education. The research used a qualitative method with a literature review approach, where the author collected and analyzed various theoretical sources, books, and relevant journals to understand the application of cybernetic theory in religious education. The study found that integrating these two types of thinking into the learning process could help students systematically understand theological concepts while encouraging them to creatively apply religious values in their everyday lives. Additionally, this theory could optimize the use of technology and feedback mechanisms to improve learning outcomes. Despite facing some challenges in its implementation, the findings of this study showed that cybernetic theory could provide valuable insights in designing dynamic, reflective, and meaningful learning experiences in Catholic Religious Education.

Abstract

This study delves into the motivation and future orientation of prospective religious teachers in Indonesia, exploring the factors that influence their decision to choose an educational path as spiritual educators. The focus of the research was to understand the factors that influenced their decision in choosing education as a religious teacher. Through a qualitative approach with the phenomenological interview method, data was obtained from respondents who revealed that their main motivation was the desire to make a positive impact on students' spiritual lives. Religious values such as love, service, and moral responsibility are the main drivers in choosing this profession. Personal experience related to religious practices and involvement in faith communities also contribute significantly to their motivation. The future picture of the respondents shows the aspiration to be educators with integrity and agents of change in the community. This research suggests the need to develop spiritually-based career programs for prospective religious teachers, which can assist them in their future roles as leaders and servants in the context of value-based education. These findings are expected to provide in-depth insights for the study of education and student character development in the context of religious education.
