Abstract

Healthcare organizations require a qualified workforce to provide efficient, safe, and high-quality services; therefore, employee development is a crucial step in improving organizational performance. This study aims to synthesize various research findings to understand effective employee development methods and their impact on the performance of healthcare organizations by conducting a literature review through a search of articles from various data sources between 2021 and 2025. The results of the analysis indicate that human resource development strategies—including systematic workforce planning, continuous training, career development, talent management implementation, and a clear performance evaluation system accompanied by feedback—have been proven to enhance the capabilities, motivation, and productivity of healthcare workers. However, in practice, challenges remain, such as a mismatch between workforce qualifications, suboptimal post-training evaluations, a lack of communication across management levels, and a career development system that remains disorganized. Additionally, supporting factors such as supportive leadership, a positive work environment, effective communication, and recognition play a crucial role in enhancing the positive impact of employee development on performance. This study concludes that employee coaching that is coordinated, sustainable, and tailored to the organization’s needs and advancements in health technology is the key to achieving superior performance in healthcare organizations and providing quality services to the public.

Abstract

Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) is a horticultural crop containing phytochemicals that have the potential to provide health benefits. Several studies have shown that okra consumption can affect the levels of metabolic modulators, oxidative stress, and inflammatory biomarkers. Therefore, this systematic review aims to comprehensively evaluate the scientific evidence regarding the effect of okra consumption on metabolic and inflammatory parameters based on the type of okra and the type of okra preparation. This study is a systematic review that follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, a literature search was conducted in five electronic databases. The article selection process was carried out using the PICOS framework, while the methodological quality was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB 2) approach. Data were analyzed descriptively due to heterogeneity of study designs that precluded meta-analysis. A total of 124 articles were identified in the initial search phase after removing duplicates. After title and abstract screening, 51 studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. Risk of bias assessment indicated that most studies had a low risk of bias in almost all domains assessed. The synthesis results indicate that okra consumption has the potential to have positive effects on lipid profiles, glycemic control, and modulation of inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers.

Abstract

The family plays a crucial role in determining a child’s health status; however, optimizing care at the family level remains a challenge. During toddlerhood, rapid development is often accompanied by limited emotional regulation, which may trigger temper tantrums that can develop into behavioral problems if not addressed with appropriate parenting practices. Current child health issues indicate a high incidence of temper tantrums associated with parenting patterns, suboptimal exclusive breastfeeding practices, and incomplete basic immunization, all of which may affect overall child growth, development, and health status. This final scientific paper aimed to describe the implementation of family nursing care for a toddler using a family health tasks approach. The method used was a case study conducted in a family in Lam Gawee Village, Darussalam Sub-district, Aceh Besar, from December 17 to 26, 2025. Based on the assessment findings, the nursing diagnoses established were ineffective family coping related to temper tantrum behavior in toddlers, ineffective health maintenance behavior related to exclusive breastfeeding, and ineffective family self-health management related to immunization. Interventions focused on implementing the five family health tasks, including education on the concept and causes of temper tantrums and demonstration of management techniques during tantrum episodes. Evaluation results showed that family nursing care was effective in improving caregiver independence in managing temper tantrums, lactation management, and immunization adherence through the five-family health tasks approach. It is recommended that community nurses increase the frequency of home visits and provide anticipatory guidance to families on child-rearing practices, managing temper tantrums, and ensuring children’s health needs are met through exclusive breastfeeding and complete immunization.

Abstract

Common cold is a frequent viral infection of the upper respiratory tract in infants and children under  five years old. Pharmacological treatments often carry risks of side effects, shifting clinical focus toward non-pharmacological therapies such as pediatric massage. This study aims to determine the effect of common cold massage therapy on accelerating symptom improvement in children aged 3-60 months at the Jatiroto Public Health Center. A quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design was applied to 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collected included age, gender, symptom duration, and pre-test post-test symptom scores evaluated using standard measurement scales. The data was quantitatively processed and statistically evaluated using the paired t-Test. The results showed that the mean score of common cold symptoms before therapy was 8.97, which significantly decreased to 3.97 after therapy. Bivariate analysis using a paired t-Test revealed a highly significant improvement with t = 13.935 and p < 0.001 (p = 2.21 x 10-14). It is concluded that pediatric common cold massage therapy is highly effective in reducing upper respiratory tract infection symptoms in children. This non-pharmacological approach can be implemented as a safe alternative or complementary treatment within midwifery care models in Primary Health centers.

Abstract

Universal Health Coverage emphasizes the need for effective financial protection in addition to expanding health insurance coverage. The National Health Insurance (JKN) has successfully increased healthcare coverage in Indonesia, but still faces challenges in structuring benefit packages and patient costs. Study aims to synthesize scientific evidence on the design of benefit packages and patient cost mechanisms within JKN and examine lessons learned from the Japanese healthcare system. The study employed literature review design, examining scientific articles from 2016–2025 obtained from PubMed, Google Scholar, and credible health organization sources. Articles meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed using thematic analysis based on the themes of benefit structuring, cost sharing, and financial protection. The study results indicate, although the JKN benefit package formally supports coverage expansion, a gap remains between benefits and effective access, characterized by high unmet need and indirect costs borne by participants. Furthermore, patient cost structuring within JKN remains implicit and poorly integrated. Lessons learned from Japan suggest that strengthening primary care and cost sharing based on economic capacity can improve efficiency without reducing access to services. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the primary service benefit package and improve the cost sharing design to be fairer and more transparent.

Abstract

The implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Indonesia through the National Health Insurance (JKN) program has significantly expanded population coverage and improved access to healthcare services. However, challenges remain in ensuring effective service utilization, particularly in primary healthcare and referral system governance. Key issues include limited capacity of primary healthcare facilities, high rates of inappropriate referrals, and weak coordination among healthcare providers. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the UHC policy in Indonesia through strengthening primary healthcare and referral system governance, and to identify barriers and enabling factors affecting its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review design. The study population consists of scientific articles, policy reports, and official government documents related to UHC implementation in Indonesia. The selected literature sample was obtained through purposive sampling based on topic relevance, publication period within the last ten years, and source credibility. The study variables include healthcare access, primary healthcare capacity, referral system, and UHC policy implementation. Data were collected through a systematic search of Google Scholar and PubMed databases and analyzed using thematic analysis and critical synthesis. The findings indicate that despite high JKN membership coverage, service quality and sustainability remain suboptimal due to human resource shortages, limited infrastructure, and ineffective tiered referral mechanisms. In conclusion, the success of UHC implementation depends not only on expanding insurance coverage but also on strengthening primary health care capacity and improving referral system governance to achieve effective, equitable, and sustainable health services.

Abstract

Pericoronitis of the mandibular third molar is often associated with gingival tissue that partially covers the tooth crown, leading to trauma and food impaction. This case report aims to describe the management of pericoronitis of tooth 48 through operculectomy in a 25-year-old female patient who presented at the Achmad Yani General Dental and Oral Hospital. The patient presented with complaints of swelling in the lower right posterior gum, food frequently getting trapped in the gum tissue covering the tooth, and the gum being bitten frequently while eating. Data were obtained through medical history, intraoral and extraoral clinical examinations, and panoramic radiography. Clinical examination revealed that gingival tissue partially covered the tooth crown, while radiographic examination showed a Class I position of the right mandibular third molar with adequate eruption space. Management was carried out through Phase I therapy consisting of oral hygiene education and scaling, followed by Phase II therapy consisting of an operculectomy as a conservative treatment. Evaluations were conducted at one-week and one-month follow-ups, as well as periodic maintenance visits every three months. The treatment results showed no reports of pain, good tissue healing, and a reduction in complaints of food getting stuck. Operulectomy can be a conservative treatment option for pericoronitis involving a mandibular third molar with adequate eruption space to alleviate the patient’s symptoms and eliminate local causative factors, thereby supporting the possibility of continued eruption, while still requiring periodic monitoring and evaluation to prevent recurrence.
