Abstract

This study aims to analyze the problems in establishing the Arabic language environment in the Arabic Language Education (PBA) Study Program at STAI Ali bin Abi Thalib Surabaya. The focus of the research covers three main aspects: (1) the actual condition of the Arabic language environment on campus, (2) the supporting and inhibiting factors in its establishment, and (3) the strategies implemented to improve the effectiveness of building such an environment. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving students as well as the language and dormitory management staff. The data were analyzed using Miles & Huberman’s interactive analysis technique, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings reveal that although there is institutional commitment to fostering an Arabic language environment, its implementation in practice remains partial and has not been fully internalized within the campus’s academic culture. Language activities tend to be confined to formal settings and do not yet reflect natural interaction in students’ daily lives. Inhibiting factors include weak monitoring of language policy enforcement, low internal motivation among students, inconsistency in program implementation, and an ineffective reward-and-punishment system. The strategies applied so far are largely administrative, such as drafting regulations and issuing formal instructions, but they have not sufficiently addressed the affective and motivational aspects of students. The study highlights that building an Arabic language environment requires a more comprehensive approach, not only addressing obstacles but also optimizing existing supporting factors. Habituation-based approaches, motivation reinforcement, and the integration of formal and informal elements are essential for creating a sustainable language environment. Therefore, this study recommends collaborative strategies among all academic community members to strengthen the language culture on campus.

Abstract

يهدف هذا البحث إلى التعرف بشكل معمّق على العوامل الرئيسة التي تساعد طلبة معهد الإصلاح العصري دوروواتي كليرونغ كبومين على تحقيق النجاح في مهارة الكلام باللغة العربية. وتبرز أهمية هذا البحث من كون مهارة الكلام تعدّ أحد الأركان الأساسية في إتقان اللغة العربية، حيث تمكّن المتعلم من التواصل الفعّال والتعبير بطلاقة في مختلف السياقات الأكاديمية والاجتماعية. اعتمد الباحث المنهج الكيفي من نوع دراسة الحالة، لأنه الأنسب للكشف عن الظواهر التعليمية في بيئتها الطبيعية. وقد جُمعت البيانات باستخدام أساليب متنوعة مثل الملاحظة المباشرة داخل الصفوف، والمقابلات المتعمقة مع مسؤولي المعهد والمعلمين، بالإضافة إلى مراجعة وثائق المعهد وتقاريره الأكاديمية. جاءت هذه الدراسة بعد ملاحظة واقعية لأداء الطلبة، حيث أظهروا قدرة استثنائية في التحدث بالعربية وفازوا في عدة مسابقات لغوية على مستوى المنطقة، مما لفت الانتباه إلى وجود عوامل مؤثرة وراء هذا التفوق. أظهرت النتائج أن أهم العوامل تتمثل في: (1) وجود منهج تعليمي واضح ومتكامل يحدد الأهداف والمحتوى وطرق التدريس وأساليب التقويم، (2) كفاءة المعلمين، ومعظمهم من خريجي الجامعات والمعاهد الحديثة الذين يمتلكون خبرة تربوية عالية، (3) توافر بيئة لغوية حيوية تشجع على استخدام العربية داخل الصف وخارجه بشكل طبيعي ومستمر. وتكمن الإضافة العلمية الجديدة في هذا البحث في إبراز دمج التعليم الرسمي داخل الصف مع الممارسة التواصلية المنتظمة خارج الصف، مما أسهم في إيجاد بيئة تعليمية متكاملة وفعّالة. ويمكن اعتبار هذا النمط نموذجاً يُحتذى به في تطوير تعليم مهارة الكلام باللغة العربية، خاصة في المؤسسات التعليمية الإسلامية التي تسعى إلى تحقيق مخرجات متميزة في إتقان اللغة العربية

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the messages of creed (aqidah) and religious moderation in the YouTube content "Bareng Mas Mitro" on the ANB Channel, using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The methodology used is descriptive qualitative, which dissects visual and verbal signs to find denotative and connotative meanings. The background of this research is the phenomenon of digital da'wah facing challenges such as the spread of deviant teachings and radicalism, as well as the prevalence of mystical practices like the use of amulets that contradict the principle of tauhid (monotheism), particularly among the younger generation. The results show that Ustaz Ammi Nur Baits and the ANB Channel team succeeded in conveying da'wah messages that rectify the understanding of aqidah and religious moderation through a light and entertaining approach. The semiotic analysis of the "Jimat Penglaris" episode debunks the myth that amulets have spiritual power, confirming that such practices are a form of deception that can damage one's creed. The novelty of this research lies in its analysis of the da'wah messages of a Salafi "da'i influencer," who blends aqidah and religious moderation with Javanese local wisdom in an entertaining parody format. This approach demonstrates the effectiveness of digital da'wah in reaching a lay audience in a rational and contextual manner, while also correcting common misconceptions in society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the understanding of fiqih dakwah through the ḥadīth of ʿĀishah regarding the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) decision to postpone the reconstruction of the Ka’bah. The background highlights the importance of wisdom (hikmah) in dakwah strategies that consider social and psychological contexts. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical method based on library research, this study relies on primary sources from authentic ḥadīth collections and their commentaries, supported by contemporary scholarly works. The findings indicate that the Prophet prioritized social harmony by postponing the reconstruction, thereby applying principles of wisdom, prioritization, and unity in dakwah. The novelty of this research lies in its contextual and interdisciplinary analysis that connects the hadith with modern communication theories in Islamic propagation. The implication emphasizes that adopting wisdom-based approaches remains essential for effective dakwah in today’s multicultural societies.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the strategic position and formulate strategies to enhance the competitiveness of STAI Ali Bin Abi Thalib Surabaya through a SWOT approach. The background of this study is based on the importance of competitiveness among Islamic higher education institutions amidst the challenges of globalization and inter-institutional competition. The purpose of this research is to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by the institution, as well as to develop relevant strategies to sustainably improve competitiveness. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to lecturers, educational staff, and students as respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and the construction of IFAS and EFAS matrices based on the weight and rating of each SWOT factor. The findings show that STAI Ali Bin Abi Thalib Surabaya possesses significant internal strengths, such as the quality of its Arabic language program, distinctive scientific methodology, and competent human resources. On the other hand, external opportunities, such as society’s growing interest in Islamic education and potential strategic partnerships, also support the institution’s development. The strategic position of STAI is located in Quadrant I, which indicates that a growth strategy is the primary choice. The implication of this research is that the institution needs to focus on strengthening differentiation and developing flagship programs based on internal strengths and external opportunities.

Abstract

This research is designed to improve the Arabic language learning activity of 7th-grade students at MTs Darul Ilmi Batang Kuis for the 2025-2026 academic year. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The research design for this study uses multiple Siklus, namely Siklus I, II, and so on, and has four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were the students of class VII-2 at MTs Darul Ilmi Batang Kuis, totaling 32 students. The data collection techniques used in this study are observation, questionnaires, and tests. The background of this research is that many students are not serious during Arabic language learning. They prefer to talk to their friends rather than listen to instructions from their teacher. Additionally, there are also students who are shy or even afraid to express their opinions. Thus, there needs to be improvement in both the Arabic language learning process, especially in the methods used. The results of this study indicate an increase in the learning activity of 7ṭ-grade students at MTs Darul Ilmi Batang Kuis. The percentage increase was from 42% in Siklus I to 79% in Siklus II. Additionally, there was an increase in the average test scores from 71.32 in Siklus I to 85 in Siklus  II. The findings are consistent with the theory that the Small Group Discussion method is able to increase student activity in learning Arabic. As explained earlier, this method is able to encourage students to be more courageous in expressing their opinions, active in group work, and capable of socializing. Thus, the application of the Small Group Discussion method can increase activity in learning Arabic.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has brought significant changes to the field of education, one of which is trough the integration of digital-based interactive media as a learning tool. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of using digital-based interactive educational media in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills in mahārah qirā’ah at MTs Plus Al-Azhar Wlingi Blitar. This research employed a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample consisted of 22 seventh-grade students selected using a saturated sampling technique. The research instruments included tests measuring students’ critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of educational digital-based interactive media, as well as observations of the learning process. The analysis showed a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking, as evidenced by an average N-Gain score of 0.7687, categorized as high. The validity and reliability tests indicated that the test items were valid and highly reliable (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.807). The data also met the assumptions of normality and homogeneity, which reinforced the validity of the results. During the learning process, students demonstrated active engagement and improved performance across various levels of Bloom's taxonomy, from understanding to creating. Thus, digital-based interactive media have proven to be an effective and enjoyable medium for enhancing creative thinking and text comprehension in Arabic language learning. This study contributes to the development of innovative instructional strategies that align with the characteristics of the digital generation.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the daʿwah approach of al-tas}fiyah wa al-tarbiyah according to Shaikh Muh}ammad Nāṣiruddīn al-Albānī and to assess its relevance in the context of daʿwah. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method using a library research approach. Primary sources were drawn from Shaikh al-Albānī’s works and analyzed through content analysis involving data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that al-taṣfiyah functions as the purification of Islamic teachings from doctrinal deviations, bidʿah practices, and traditions not rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, while al-tarbiyah serves as the education of Muslim generations with sound knowledge to be consistently practiced. Both aspects complement each other: al-taṣfiyah establishes the epistemological foundation, while al-tarbiyah ensures the continuity of daʿwah praxis. The novelty of this research lies in affirming that Shaikh al-Albānī’s thought offers an integrative daʿwah framework, not limited to purification or education alone but emphasizing their synthesis. The implication is that daʿwah strategies can be strengthened through an approach that balances purification and generational nurturing, making them more relevant in addressing globalization and the crisis of religious authority.
