Abstract

Listening is one of the fundamental language skills that significantly influences students' language comprehension and communication abilities. In elementary school, advanced listening instruction is often overlooked, resulting in students"™ low ability to analyze, interpret, and respond to spoken texts critically. This study aims to explore the implementation of advanced listening learning in elementary schools and its impact on students"™ listening comprehension skills. A qualitative descriptive method was used, involving classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and document analysis. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of advanced listening learning is still limited and tends to focus only on basic listening skills, such as identifying main ideas or keywords. Teachers rarely use varied and interactive listening strategies, such as note-taking, predicting content, or responding to audio-visual materials. Furthermore, it was found that students often face difficulties in retaining detailed information and making inferences from what they listen to. The study concludes that there is an urgent need for more structured and engaging listening learning approaches that go beyond the basic level, integrating technology and student-centered strategies to improve comprehension and critical thinking. This research is expected to be a reference for developing more effective listening instruction in elementary education.

Abstract

Character education is essential in shaping students to be not only intellectually capable but also morally and spiritually mature. In Indonesia, religious values are a central component of national education, as outlined in Law No. 20 of 2003, which emphasizes nurturing students to be believers, devoted to God, and of noble character. The Merdeka Curriculum reinforces this by placing "faith, devotion to God, and noble character" as the first dimension in the Pancasila Student Profile. However, in practice, the integration of religious values in elementary education remains largely normative and lacks structured learning and assessment approaches. Teachers often struggle with evaluating students"™ religious character development due to the absence of systematic and comprehensive assessment tools. Existing assessments tend to be subjective, inconsistent, and based on superficial observations without clear indicators. Additionally, religious character development activities in schools often take ceremonial forms"”such as communal prayers or holiday celebrations"”without truly instilling spiritual values into students"™ daily behavior. Given the challenges posed by globalization, moral decline, and cultural influences that conflict with national values, strengthening students"™ religious foundation is increasingly important. This research seeks to address these issues by developing and validating a character-based assessment model aimed at effectively measuring and nurturing religious values among elementary school students. The proposed model aspires to provide a more contextual, practical, and holistic approach to religious character education in schools.

Abstract

The education curriculum in Indonesia has undergone eleven revisions since independence, which is often not matched by adequate preparedness of educators and education infrastructure. This research aims to explore the meaning of the curriculum in depth from historical and contemporary perspectives, as well as compare curricula from various periods to provide a comprehensive understanding. The research method used is a qualitative approach through literature study and content analysis of scientific journals, textbooks, official government documents, and other relevant articles and publications. The results show that the curriculum in Indonesia continues to develop and adapt to social and technological changes. The 1947 curriculum emphasized national values and life skills, the 1952 curriculum focused on the relevance of the material to daily life, while the subsequent curriculum continued to adapt to the times. Curriculum implementation faces various challenges, including disparities in the quality of education between urban and rural areas and teachers' lack of preparation for curriculum changes. This research highlights the importance of a curriculum that is relevant to the needs of society and technological developments so that graduates can compete at the global level. The curriculum should be able to shape students' characters and prepare them for future challenges, with an emphasis on character and competency development.

Abstract

Textbooks serve as one of the primary learning resources in senior high school biology education. However, various studies have revealed the presence of conceptual inaccuracies and misconceptions in biology textbooks, particularly on complex topics such as cell division. This study aims to analyze the availability and conceptual accuracy of cell division content in four of the most commonly used grade XII biology textbooks in senior high schools in Pontianak. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis, date were collected through interviews with 27 biology teachers and analysis of textbook content based on nine essential concepts of cell division. The findings indicate that only one textbook presents all nine concepts, while the others present between six and seven concepts. Moreover, all textbooks exhibit potential misconceptions, especially on the topic of gametogenesis in higher plants. The types of misconceptions identified include oversimplification, overgeneralization, and misidentification. These results highlight the need for rigorous evaluation of biology textbooks to ensure both content completeness and scientific accuracy. This study provides valuable insights for educators, textbook authors, and policymakers in improving the quality of biology education through more accurate and pedagogically sound learning materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze (1) the implementation of the independent curriculum in the Indonesian language subject in class X SMAS Santun Untan, (2) evaluation of the independent curriculum in the Indonesian language subject in class X SMAS Santun Untan, (3) obstacles to the implementation of the independent curriculum in the Indonesian language subject in class X SMAS Santun Untan. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive research method. Data collection techniques use observation, interview, and documentation techniques using data analysis techniques, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions (data verification). The analysis in this study used eight informants, namely one core informant and 7 supporting informants. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the independent curriculum in Indonesian language learning for class X has not been optimally implemented. The implementation of the independent curriculum is still collaborated with the 2013 curriculum, namely in the use of LKS as a learning tool. In addition, obstacles in implementing the independent curriculum are that many teachers are not tech-savvy or do not master technology, the lack of facilities and infrastructure at SMAS Santun Untan, and the limited ability of teachers to adapt to the independent curriculum are also quite serious obstacles experienced at SMAS Santun Untan. Evaluation of the implementation of the independent curriculum in Indonesian language learning at SMAS Santun Untan is divided into 2, namely written and oral assessments for students.
