Abstract

This study aims to identify the implementation of differentiated instruction in high school classrooms. The research focuses on adaptive teaching strategies tailored to the needs of students, including those with sensory disabilities such as visual and hearing impairments. A qualitative method with a case study approach was used to explore the in-depth application of differentiated instruction in real-world contexts. Data collection was conducted through direct observation, in depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis, such as academic records and lesson plans. The study focuses on eight students as a sample within a class of 30 students in the XI B grade at Kemala Bhayangkari 1 High School, Kubu Raya. Analysis was carried out using a qualitative case study approach to understand how teachers adapt and implement differentiated teaching strategies in an inclusive classroom. The application of differentiated instruction strategies at Kemala Bhayangkari 1 High School, particularly in grade XI B, successfully created an inclusive learning environment for students with mild sensory disabilities. The results show that these strategies enhanced active participation and motivation among students with sensory impairments. However, challenges such as limited resources and a lack of teacher training hindered optimal implementation. Differentiated instruction has great potential to create an inclusive and effective learning environment in inclusive classrooms. However, improving access to tailored resources, fostering closer collaboration between teachers, support staff, and parents, as well as providing professional development for teachers, is necessary to accommodate the diverse needs of students more effectively. Thus, differentiated instruction holds significant promise in fostering inclusive and effective learning environments in inclusive settings.

Abstract

AbstractNational curriculum explains that students should be able mastering knowledge of factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive after studying materials, particularly science education materials. That after studying teaching material, students were required to be able to master. However, some students in Indonesia, especially the Department of Science (Natural Sciences) are still having difficulties in factual, conceptual and procedural knowledge. One internal factor that affects the difficulties of students is learning style. The main objective of this study was to analyze the presence or absence of the effect of the achievement of the dimensions of knowledge on the material of the satellite dish influenced by the learning style of students in SMAN 2 Tempunak. To find out the learning style of students used the learning style questionnaire according to Deporter and Hernacki. To measure the achievement of the dimensions of students’ knowledge used multiple choice tests with each dimension of seven questions. This study uses descriptive methods with correlational forms. The sample in this study numbered thirty students of class X MIPA. The result of the data analysis using Chi squared (χ2 = 2.911) the findings showed insignificant. The results showed that learning styles did not affect the analysis of the dimensions of students’ knowledge. Keywords: Descriptive, Knowledge Dimensions, Learning Style

The results of the study, the whole lesson plan from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lessons did not include very important things, namely learning indicators where this indicator is a benchmark in the formulation of goals. The learning steps are not in sync with the written cooperative learning model because it does not display cooperative learning steps. For assessment, there is no enrichment / remedy program. In the lesson plan assessment, this lesson plan does not attach questions or tests carried out in the 1st lesson, but as a whole contains a knowledge assessment grid, however, in this lesson plan write down an attitude assessment indicator rubric.
