Abstract

West Kalimantan is one of the provinces with the largest area of peatland in Indonesia. Peat soil with a sapric maturity level is generally known to have high bacterial diversity with tremendous potential for characterization. In addition, the characterization of sapric peat soil bacteria has the potential to be used as a biology learning resource. This research aims to conduct a structured evaluation of the potential of West Kalimantan’s sapric peat soil bacteria characterization as a biology learning resource, specifically in the subtopic on Indonesian biodiversity. This research is qualitative and comprises two stages: interviews with a biology teacher and the analysis of requirements for biology learning resources. Through interviews, it was revealed that the central issue in the subtopic of Indonesian biodiversity is the limitation of adequate learning resources for studying biodiversity at the microbial level. Meanwhile, the analysis of biology learning resource requirements showed that the West Kalimantan’s sapric peat soil bacteria characterization met all six specified requirements, accompanied by the synopsis and scenario for the documentary film as a preliminary design. Therefore, the West Kalimantan’s sapric peat soil bacteria characterization has the potential to serve as a biology learning resource for the subtopic of Indonesian biodiversity, enriching the learning of microbial diversity with local biodiversity.

Abstract

Abstract

This study looks at how Madrasah Ibtidaiyah uses Canva-based digital storytelling to teach the Fathu Makkah content in Islamic Cultural History (SKI). This study's background stems from SKI's desire for more dynamic learning materials, boring teaching strategies, and low student engagement. The study examines how Canva facilitates digital storytelling as a learning innovation by analyzing books, journals, and pertinent papers using a qualitative library research method. The results demonstrate how Canva's incorporation of text, animation, audio, and visual components makes historical knowledge more interesting, comprehensible, and successful in assisting students in understanding moral principles like forgiveness and peace, which are represented in the Fathu Makkah event. While highlighting how this approach improves students' enthusiasm, engagement, creativity, and 21st-century abilities, the debate also identifies obstacles such inadequate facilities, differing instructor digital competencies, and time restrictions in media preparation. In conclusion, digital storytelling based on Canva has been shown to be successful in enhancing SKI learning and promoting significant, character-oriented Islamic teaching.

Abstract

Effective communication between teachers and students is a crucial foundation for determining learning outcomes and is integral to the transformative education process. This communication function goes beyond ordinary instruction, serving as a bridge that builds academic understanding and emotional support. Open communication encourages students to ask questions and provide feedback, allowing teachers to adjust their teaching. Meanwhile, empathetic communication creates a psychologically safe classroom environment and teaches interpersonal soft skills. This study used a literature review method, selecting 20 relevant articles from 200 articles found, focusing on publications from 2020 to 2025. The results show that effective communication is vital for building good teacher-student relationships and supporting learning. This communication is characterized by a two-way flow of information, facilitating understanding, and changing attitudes. Its implementation is based on three foundations: seven fundamental elements of communication, five principles of quality assurance (such as clarity and accuracy), and five strategic approaches. Effective communication significantly improves student learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. It serves as a catalyst in realizing the holistic educational goal of producing a generation that is knowledgeable, skilled, and virtuous. Communication barriers (different perceptions, emotional reactions) can be overcome through an integrated framework of teacher professionalism, including the development of pedagogical competencies, differentiated learning, and a culture of reflection. Thus, investing in improving teachers' educational communication competencies is a strategic step towards creating a generation that is intelligent and has strong character

Abstract

This research aims to determine the differences in student mathematics learning outcomes between the experimental group and the control group on three-dimensional material. The experimental group used solution card media while the control group did not use solution card media. Then we will find out how significant the difference is. The method used is experimentation in the form of Quasi Experimental Design, with Non-equivalent Control Group. Based on the data analysis carried out, the results obtained were that the average difference for the experimental group was 24.2220 and the average difference for the control group was 8.8890. Hypothesis test results using the Independent-Samples T-test, it was obtained that the value t_statistic(9.829) > t_table(2.0017) and P-value (0.000) < α (0.05), so there is a difference between the two groups. Based on the calculation results, it was found that the effect size value (Cohen's "“ d) = 2.5378 with the high category and the coefficient of determination or r^2=0.6169 (61.69%). It can be concluded that the use of solution card media makes a significant difference, namely 61.69%, to students' mathematics learning outcomes in third-dimensional material for class XII SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak.

Abstract

This article reviews to determine the effectiveness of group counseling using the REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) approach in improving self-adjustment among juvenile detainees at LPKA Class II Sungai Raya. The research method used is an experimental pre-experimental design, specifically a one group pretest and posttest design. Total of 6 detainees with the lowest self-adjustment scores were selected through purposive sampling from a population of 22 detainees, using non-probability sampling techniques. The analysis results, using an independent sample t-test, showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. The average post-test self-adjustment score reached 122, which was higher than the average pre-test score of 59.67. With a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, this result proves that group counseling with the REBT approach has a positive impact and significant changes for the detainees, thus confirming the hypothesis. It can be concluded that group counseling using the REBT approach is effective in improving self-adjustment among juvenile detainees at LPKA Class II Sungai Raya.

Abstract

21st-century education requires students to master 21st-century skills and higher-order thinking skills in line with the Merdeka Curriculum for developing the Profil Pelajar Pancasila, namely critical and creative thinking skills. Based on the results of the PISA Survey, critical and creative thinking skills in Indonesia are still low, as teachers continue to face obstacles in implementing relevant learning models to develop these skills. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the ICARE model in enhancing critical and creative thinking skills. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, with data collected from 8 international articles and 10 national articles published in the last five years (2021–2025) through Google Scholar and ScienceDirect using the keywords “ICARE Model, Critical Thinking Skill, and Creative Thinking Skill.” The results indicate that the implementation of the ICARE model can improve critical and creative thinking skills, as its stages Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, and Extension facilitate students in developing analysis, evaluation, and inference in the indicators of critical thinking, as well as fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration in the indicators of creative thinking. Therefore, it can be concluded that the ICARE model is a relevant learning model to foster critical and creative thinking skills through an interactive, contextual, and student-centered approach.

Abstract

This internship was conducted at Muhammadiyah 8 Benjeng Junior High School with the purpose of understanding and addressing bullying behaviors that occur in the school environment. During the internship program, the author applied several data collection methods, including observation, interviews, and the implementation of personal guidance and counseling sessions for students involved in bullying cases, both perpetrators and victims. The findings indicated that bullying behaviors most commonly appeared in the form of verbal teasing and social exclusion. These behaviors were influenced by several factors, such as a lack of empathy, differences in individual character, and the strong influence of peer groups. Through a personal guidance and counseling approach, students were guided to recognize the negative psychological and social impacts of bullying, develop positive social skills, and enhance mutual respect among peers. The counseling process encouraged students to reflect on their attitudes and behaviors, ultimately supporting positive behavioral change. This internship provided the author with valuable practical experience in applying guidance and counseling theories in a real school setting. Furthermore, the internship contributed to increasing awareness of the essential role of guidance and counseling services in fostering a safe, supportive, and empathetic school environment for all students.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the impulsive buying behavior in the use of e-commerce among students of the Economics Education Program at FKIP Untan and to identify the factors that cause impulsive buying behavior in the use of e-commerce among these students. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The research informants consist of ten students from the Economics Education Program at FKIP Untan. The results show that (1) students of the Economics Education Program at FKIP Untan frequently make impulsive purchases on e-commerce platforms, especially Shopee. (2) These impulsive purchases are generally made without planning, influenced by emotional impulses, attractive promotions, and social influences such as recommendations from friends. Although this behavior provides temporary satisfaction, many students regret their purchasing decisions because the items they buy are often not truly needed. Factors contributing to impulsive buying among these students include mood, social media influences such as TikTok and Instagram, e-commerce promotions such as discounts and free shipping, recommendations from friends, and more stable financial conditions. Impulsive buying occurs more frequently among students with low self-control and when their financial conditions are stable, such as at the beginning of the month
