Abstract

Obesity is one of the nutritional problems in Indonesia. Meanwhile, based on data from Basic Health Research in 2018, the prevalence of overweight was 13.6% and obesity was 21,8%. This study aimed to analyze sleep quality, stress, physical activity, and food consumption with nutritional status. A cross-sectional study design was applied with 60 subjects aged 20-30 years old selected by cluster random sampling method. Characteristics of subjects, sleep quality, stress levels, physical activity, and food consumption data were collected through interviews by structured questionnaires and direct measurements. The results showed no significant between age, gender, allowance, food expenditure, physical activity, and food diversity with nutritional status (p>0,05). In contrast, sleep quality and stress levels were significant to nutritional status (p<0,05), and stress level was the risk factor for the obesity incidence, OR= 6,2 [95% CI 1,9-20,3]. Thus, stress levels are a risk factor that affects individual nutritional status.

Abstract

Fatigue is a common complaint experienced by the working community. The term fatigue usually denotes a different condition for each individual, but all of them lead to a loss of efficiency and a decrease in work capacity and endurance. Fatigue is classified into two types namely, muscle fatigue and general fatigue. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with work fatigue in farmers in Amessangngeng Village, Donri-Donri District, Soppeng Regency. This study used a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study was farming groups in Ammessangeng Village, Donri-Donri District, Soppeng Regency with 43 farmers. This study used total sampling. The results showed that there was a relationship between age (p-value=0,024), length of work (p=0,026), years of service (p-value=0,008), and work attitude (p-value=0,013) with fatigue among farmers. It is hoped that farmers will pay more attention to their lifestyle and work methods so that when they work they do not experience work fatigue.

Abstract

Diethylnitrosamine (DEN) is a metabolic product of various foods and beverages in which there are preservatives in the form of nitrate and nitrite. Nitrosamines are found in various products such as alcoholic beverages, processed meats, cigarettes, and cosmetic products. DEN is toxic and carcinogenic to organs such as the liver, lungs, kidneys, skin, stomach, and blood. In addition to giving DEN compounds, there are also CCl4 compounds as tumor promoter agents known as genotoxic substances that can increase the risk of genetic errors and stimulate cells to become malignant neoplasms. Administration of DEN and CCl4 induction can damage various organs of the body, one of which is the kidney. In a healthy body, angiogenesis plays a role in wound healing and the formation of new tissue. However, angiogenesis also contributes to carcinogenesis or the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells, and is malignant when the body is contaminated with toxic substances. Therefore, to determine the effect of the administration of DEN and CCl4 observations were made using the immunohistochemical method, to see differences in the histology of the kidneys of experimental animals, the positive control group, and the negative control group based on the VEGF angiogenesis factor. From these results, there are significant differences. In the negative group, there was no necrosis and high-value VEGF expression, but in the positive group, there was necrosis and a decrease in the value of VEGF expression compared to the negative control group.

Abstract

The coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Hiang Health Center is still low. Family support and support from health workers such as midwives are very influential in the breastfeeding practice. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the relationship between family support and support from health workers in exclusive breastfeeding. This research was an analytical observation with a cross-sectional approach which was carried out in the working area of the Hiang Health Center, Kerinci Regency, Jambi in April-May 2021. Data processing was carried out with univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The results showed that lack of family support, especially in-laws was 4,07 times at risk (95% CI: 1,81-9,12) and lack of support from health workers was 3,46 times at risk (95% CI: 1,50-7,96). These two factors were inhibiting factors in exclusive breastfeeding. Health workers need to improve breastfeeding education and counseling services and involve husbands and in-laws in these activities so that they will support mothers in the practice of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the community's physical activity decreased while fast food is preferable. The imbalance in energy intake could lead to triggering an excess nutritional status. The purpose of the study was to analyze the association between fast-food consumption and physical activity on the nutritional status of students during the Covid-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional study with accidental sampling among 84 students at one of the private Universities located in East Jakarta was conducted. The data were nutritional status, fast-food consumption, and physical activity. Statistical analysis was a chi-square test. Almost one-third of students were overweight (29,8%), more than half of them had low physical activity levels (51,2%) and frequently consumed fast-food (57,2%). Both fast food consumption and physical activity were not different between students with a normal nutritional status and overweight during the Pandemic (p-value>0,05). This concluded that the trend of consuming fast food while performing low physical activity occurred not only for those with overweight but those who have normal nutritional status.

Abstract

Maternal health during pregnancy is affecting fetal health in the womb and after birth. This study was conducted to see how maternal fasting blood glucose, blood pressure, and amniotic fluid volume in third semester correlate with baby birth weight and length. The design of this research was observasional in cohort program from third trimester pregnancy until delivery. Result showed that the rising of maternal fasting blood glucose in third trimester was predicted to significantly increasing the baby’s birth weight (b= 7,24, p= 0,025). Inversely, the increase in blood pressure during pregnancy had the potential to lower the weight of the baby (b= -13,94, p= 0,058) although not significanty proven in this study. The correlation between maternal amniotic fluid volume had not shown significant results with neither birth length nor weight of the offspring in this study. It is recommended that pregnant women could maintain their health and also conducted regular health checks of blood glucose, blood pressure, and amniotic fluid volume to avoid pregnancy adverse outcomes if detected.
