Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of guided inquiry learning strategies on students' critical thinking skills in ecosystem material at SMP Negeri 3 Wera. The research design used was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group involving pretest and posttest in both the experimental and control groups. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing instruments in the form of critical thinking essay tests (pretest post-test) and observation sheets for student and teacher activities during the learning process. The data analysis technique used the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and Levene's homogeneity test as prerequisite tests, then hypothesis testing (t-test) and N-gain to see the comparison between the pretest and post-test using SPSS-25.. The results showed that the critical thinking skills of students in the experimental group improved significantly compared to those in the control group. The N-Gain score of the experimental group was categorized as moderate, while the control group was categorized as low. The guided inquiry learning strategy effectively encouraged students to actively identify problems, develop hypotheses, collect data, and draw conclusions independently. This learning model can be applied effectively even in schools with limited resources.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the use of interactive video learning media on the science learning outcomes of Class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Sorong Regency. The type of research used in quantitative research with the research method used is a quasi-experimental method or quasi-experimental. While the research design used is a pretest-posttest design. The data collection techniques used in this study consisted of a pretest and a posttest. Data analysis was performed using statistical tests with SPSS version 26. The results of the study showed that the increase in students' science learning outcomes was marked by an increase in the number of students who initially did not get a good category score at the time of the pretest then increased to 16 students at the time of the posttest with a percentage of 61.54%. At the time of the pretest, there were no students who got a sufficient category score, while the value in the posttest was 10 students who got a sufficient category score with a percentage of 38.46%. In the pretest with the less category there were 26 students who got a percentage score of 100%, and in the posttest there were no students who got less. So it can be concluded that there is an increase in science learning outcomes of Class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Sorong Regency with the use of interactive video learning media.

Abstract

This research was conducted to respond to the need for the use of natural dyes that are more environmentally friendly and safer for health than synthetic dyes. One alternative is the use of natural dyes by utilizing the bark of the noni root (Morinda citrifolia Linn). The purpose of this research is to produce natural dyes from the bark extract of the noni root for use on ikat weaving yarn. The method used is a case study with the technique of thread washing stage, extraction and dyeing stage, color fixation stage, drying, observation of results, then the data is analyzed descriptively narrative. The results of the study show that extraction is carried out by the process of removing impurities in the yarn, dyeing fixation and drying. This natural dye extract is produced from boiling the bark of the noni root for 60 minutes and the dyeing is done traditionally and fixation is done using lime and tunjung as much as 1% which respectively produces a pink color on the lime and a reddish brown color on the tunjung. The use of the bark root of the noni can be used as an alternative natural dye for yarn used as the basic material for making ikat woven fabrics.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an eco-friendly liquid soap made from used cooking oil through an experimental approach involving oil purification, saponification using KOH, pH adjustment with citric acid, and product quality testing. Information were collected through pH testing with litmus paper and organoleptic assessment of color, aroma, texture, and foam.  Data analysis was carried out descriptively, pH data was analyzed by observing three repetitions of measurements, while organoleptic data was analyzed by observing parameters to determine the level of subjectivity and quality of the soap. The results show that used cooking oil can be processed into liquid soap with a pleasant natural scent, clear green color, smooth texture, and good cleansing performance, with the pH successfully reduced from 12 to 7.5, making it safe for skin use. The product is feasible as an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic surfactant-based soaps and supports sustainable waste utilization

Abstract

Studi ini mengkaji respons siswa terhadap penggunaan Wordwall sebagai media evaluasi dalam pembelajaran sistem peredaran darah manusia melalui model Teams Games Tournament (TGT). Dilaksanakan dengan siswa kelas delapan di SMPN 1 Palangka Raya, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bagaimana evaluasi berbasis permainan digital mendukung keterlibatan dan pengalaman belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa merespons sangat positif sebanyak 82% terhadap Wordwall, bahwa hal itu menciptakan suasana yang lebih menyenangkan, kurang menegangkan, dan lebih interaktif. Integrasi Wordwall dalam TGT juga mempromosikan kompetisi dan kolaborasi yang sehat, mendorong partisipasi aktif dan meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa selama penilaian. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa Wordwall, ketika dikombinasikan dengan TGT, berfungsi sebagai media evaluasi alternatif yang efektif yang meningkatkan pengalaman penilaian siswa dan mendukung penerapan pembelajaran yang ditingkatkan teknologi dalam pendidikan sains.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students, their lack of focus during lessons, and their limited enthusiasm for learning. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the effect of picture card media on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD YPK Yeflio, Sorong Regency. The research employed a quantitative pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 students. Data collection technique by distributing a multiple choice test instrument consisting of 20 questions, and the results were analyzed using normality testing and statistical analysis (t-test). The pretest results showed an average score of 60.25, while the posttest results showed an increased average score of 74.75. The t-test results indicated that the calculated t-value was higher than the critical t-value (11.854 1.72913) and the Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 was less than 0.05, leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of Ha. Thus, it can be concluded that picture card media has a significant effect on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD YPK Yeflio, Sorong Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to develop MOANALISYA (Monopoli Augmented Nusantara Lingkup Sistem Tata Surya) learning media and to asses respondents' responses to its development. The developed media is expected to provide a pleasant learning experience for students so that the final results obtained are not only knowledge but also thinking, collaboration, communication, and kinesthetic skills. The study used a 4D development model (define, design, develop, disseminate) without conducting a disseminate stage. The data collection technique was tested on media experts, material experts, science teachers, and seventh-grade students of Sriwedari Middle School in Malang City in the 2024/2025 academic year with a sample of 10 students. The data analysis technique used percentage calculations to assess the validity and practicality of the Likert scale instrument. The results showed that the development of MOANALISYA received a positive response with a percentage of 85% from media experts and 84.38% from material experts indicating it is very valid and suitable for use in the learning process. In addition, the practicality test also entered the very interesting or very practical category after showing a positive response of 82.5% from teachers and 89.88% from students. Thus, it can be concluded that the MOANALISYA learning media is suitable for use in science learning on the solar system material.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Scaffolding Question Prompt-based Student Worksheets (LKPD) in improving students' self-efficacy in science learning on the topic of Earth Structure. This study used a quantitative descriptive design involving 30 students of grade VIII-B at MTs Alif Laam Miim Surabaya in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire developed based on Bandura's indicators and measured using a five-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed descriptively using percentage categorization and statistically using Paired Sample Test. The results showed an increase in the average self-efficacy score from 62.00 (pretest) to 83.33 (posttest) with a significance value of 0.000 (0.05), indicating a significant difference before and after treatment. The categorical shift from "moderate" to "high-very high" further confirms the increase. Therefore, Scaffolding Question Prompt-based LKPD is effective in strengthening students' self-efficacy and supporting more active and independent science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how vinega solution affects the structure and hardness of chicken thigh bones. Bones are composed of two main materials, namely calcium carbonate, which provides strength, and collagen, which makes them slightly flexible. When bones are immersed in a vinegar solution containing acetic acid, a chemical reaction called decalcification occurs, which is the dissolution of calcium carbonate from the bones. As a result, bones that were originally hard lose their mineral composition and become more flexible and easier to bend because only elastic collagen tissue remains. In the experiment, chicken bones were soaked in vinegar for five days, then changes in color, texture, and bone hardness were observed. The results showed that the bones became softer, paler in color, and less likely to break when bent. Through this experiment, it was understood how a simple chemical reaction can change the physical properties of hard objects such as bones, as well as providing insight into the importance of calcium in maintaining bone strength. This experiment also taught the close relationship between chemistry and biology in practical terms in everyday life.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the level of flora and fauna diversity in the Puncak Harfat tourism area, Kampung Usaha Jaya, East Misool District, Raja Ampat Regency, Southwest Papua. The research employed a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques in data collection and analysis. The study was conducted over one month in March 2025, with samples consisting of all flora and fauna found in the eastern part of Puncak Harfat. Data were collected through field observations and interviews, and then analyzed using the Shannon–Wiener Diversity Index, Simpson’s Dominance Index, and Margalef Species Richness Index. The findings revealed 21 species of flora, with orchids and Nepenthes mirabilis identified as dominant species, highlighting the significance of this area as a natural habitat for local flora conservation. For fauna, 15 species were identified, dominated by marine biota such as corals (Acropora, Staghorn Coral) and Amphiprioninae fish, reflecting a diverse ecosystem. The diversity indices of flora (H’ = 2.6721) and fauna (H’ = 2.330) indicate moderate to high categories, while the dominance indices for flora (C = 0.3006) and fauna (C = 0.2655) show no extreme dominance of a single species. Margalef’s richness indices (R = 5.14 and R = 3.44) further confirm the high species richness in the area. Thus, these findings affirm that the Puncak Harfat ecosystem is stable, productive, and suitable to be maintained as a biological conservation site.
