Abstract

Improving critical thinking skills is one of the main goals of 21st century education, especially at the elementary school level. This ability is important to help students analyze problems, find solutions, and make decisions logically. However, initial observations showed that fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Jatimulyo still had difficulty in developing this ability, especially in mathematics subjects that require an understanding of abstract concepts. Therefore, innovation in learning models is needed to support the improvement of students' critical thinking skills. One approach that can be used is a problem-based learning model that involves teaching aids, such as a geoboard. A geoboard is a simple but effective teaching aid that can help students understand geometric concepts through exploration and visualization activities. The use of this tool is expected to not only increase students' interest in learning but also hone their critical thinking skills in an interactive and fun way. This study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of this approach in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Good concentration is essential in the learning process, as it enables children to absorb information more effectively and retain it for longer periods. This study investigates the impact of ice-breaking activities on students' learning concentration in Islamic Religious Education at State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru. The research employs a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental method, utilizing a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The study sample consisted of 35 students from class X.1 as the experimental group and 35 students from class X.3 as the control group, selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data collection methods included observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using parametric statistics with the T-test. The findings reveal a significant difference in learning concentration between the control and experimental groups in Islamic Religious Education. The t-value (t_count) was 3.987, exceeding the critical t-value (t_table) of 1.667, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H_0 and acceptance of H_a.

Abstract

Mastery of vocabulary is a crucial element in learning Arabic, particularly for young children. However, the main challenge in this process is making the learning experience both engaging and effective, in line with the developmental characteristics of 5-6-year-old children. This study aims to examine the use of the singing method as a strategy to enhance vocabulary mastery in early childhood. The research adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach, gathering data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the singing method successfully creates a fun learning environment, boosts children's motivation, and helps them easily remember and acquire Arabic vocabulary. The chosen songs feature simple vocabulary that aligns with children's everyday lives, accompanied by movements to reinforce understanding and encourage active participation. The implementation of this method also supports the development of children's cognitive, emotional, and motor skills. Therefore, the singing method has proven to be an effective and innovative approach in teaching Arabic to 5-6-year-old children.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy supports the importance of children developing a strong understanding of basic mathematical concepts and engaging in mathematical explorations that are relevant to their lives. Mathematical literacy refers to a child's ability to understand and apply basic mathematical concepts, while habits of mind include deep thinking habits such as critical, creative, and reflective thinking. This study aims to explore the relationship between mathematical literacy and habits of mind in early childhood. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design, involving 28 preschool children selected through stratified cluster sampling. Data were collected using a mathematical literacy test, a habits of mind questionnaire, and interviews with parents and teachers. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between mathematical literacy and habits of mind (r = 0.730, p < 0.05). The contribution of habits of mind to mathematical literacy was 53.3%, indicating that good habits of mind play an important role in improving children's mathematical literacy. So it can be concluded that developing habits of mind through well-planned learning can strengthen early childhood mathematical literacy.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in the world of education, including Islamic education. This study aims to determine the use of technology in developing Islamic religious education for early childhood at PAUD Among Putro Melati Kasihan. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, which aims to explore the application of Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) in Islamic religious education at PAUD. The results of the study indicate that the use of technology in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at PAUD provides various benefits, such as increasing children's interest and understanding. Based on Richard E. Mayer's theory of cognitive multimedia, the use of media such as images and videos can help reduce cognitive load and facilitate the learning process. In addition, the application of Vygotsky's theory of social interaction is also relevant, where platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom increase the dynamics of interaction. The principal and teachers at PAUD Among Putro Melati utilize applications, animated videos, and interactive stories to convey religious values in a fun way and enrich the learning experience. Despite the challenges of technology addiction, lack of social interaction, and limited access to devices, the use of technology in Islamic religious education has been shown to have a positive impact on children's religious understanding and character development, as long as it is accompanied by proper supervision.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of parents as role models in moral education for children, especially in forming character and moral behaviour from an early age. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study relies on primary data obtained through interviews with parents and secondary data from literature studies and related documents. Data collection techniques were carried out through direct observation and in-depth interviews with subjects who were parents of children in early childhood. Data analysis was carried out descriptively by examining the patterns of parental roles and providing examples of noble morals. The study results showed that parental behaviour greatly influences children's moral development; children tend to imitate the actions and attitudes of their parents, both positive and negative. The success of this process is primarily determined by religious knowledge, the quality of interaction within the family, and collaboration with a positive educational and social environment. This confirms that parental exemplarity is the primary foundation in children's moral education.
