Abstract

This research aims to determine educational problems at the Ranjeng 2 Elementary School, Indramayu Regency which has implemented the Merdeka Curriculum. The method that researchers used was the observation method, as well as interviews for teachers and questionnaires for students. This research uses data collection that utilizes interview techniques and documentation techniques, and analysis is carried out using data triangulation and method triangulation. Interviews were conducted with several sources who were considered to be directly affected by the changes to the independent curriculum that were being implemented in schools and were only specifically for class VI students. The conclusion from the results of this research is that changes in the curriculum have caused some confusion for the majority of teachers who teach science learning in class VI with an independent curriculum. The lack of direct guidance from the government regarding the implementation of the independent curriculum means that teachers can only imitate driving schools that have implemented the independent curriculum with direct direction from the government. The number of educators to foster the implementation of the independent curriculum in class VI is also considered insufficient so that many teachers feel overwhelmed, and even have to sacrifice mentoring hours for teaching schedules in other classes, where the existing schedules conflict. Teachers also feel that the implementation of project learning has several positive and negative impacts on students. The positive impact is that students have abilities that are honed by technological advances, while the negative is that students will get bored because project learning is carried out consecutively for two weeks without any material learning.

Abstract

The concept of multicultural education from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy. The diversity that exists in this country can cause conflict due to differences of opinion between ethnicities, cultures, religions and so on, if it is not based on tolerance between one another. Multicultural education is an educational process that develops all human potential with various cultures, ethnicities and religions within it. The concept of multicultural education is expected to be able to minimize conflicts in society that occur due to differences in viewpoints, attitudes, cultures and so on. In Islam, Islamic educational philosophy is a science that examines various problems related to education, such as humans as subjects and objects of education, curriculum, methods, environment, teachers, and so on based on Islamic teachings which are based on the Koran and Al-Qur'an. Hadith. The Qur'an discusses a lot about the concept of multicultural education, such as the concept of getting to know and respect various cultures, races and religions, including Surah Al Hujurat verse 13 and Surah Yunus verse 99. Muslim philosopher M. Naquib Al Attas also gave his opinion regarding the multicultural concept, namely that individuals and society are not separated in the brotherhood of humanity, not only from a review of the historical social contract that has occurred, but also from a review of the primordial bonds that have existed between all humans created by God.

Abstract

This article investigates the correlation between students' overall pronunciation proficiency and their competence in both suprasegmental and segmental aspects of English pronunciation. The study aims to shed light on the interplay between these two fundamental elements and their collective influence on students' pronunciation skills. Employing the qualitative approach, the research draws upon data collected from a diverse language background of the learners, exploring the intricacies of suprasegmental features such as stress, intonation, and rhythm, alongside the segmental elements involving individual sounds, phonemes, and their combinations. The research reveals nuanced insights into the challenges students face in mastering these pronunciation aspects and identifies potential factors contributing to any observed discrepancies. It also delves into the pedagogical implications of addressing both suprasegmental and segmental aspects concurrently in language instruction. The findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on effective pronunciation teaching methodologies and underscore the importance of a holistic approach that integrates suprasegmental and segmental elements to enhance overall pronunciation competence. The research presented herein serves as a valuable resource for enhancing the understanding of the intricate relationship between suprasegmental and segmental aspects in pronunciation, ultimately contributing to the improvement of language teaching and learning practices.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the transformational leadership role of madrasah heads in improving the performance of School Based Management (SBM)-based teachers in Raudlatul Athfal (RA) Al-Hidmah Maron Probolinggo. School Based Management (SBM) is considered an effective approach to improve the quality of education by giving principals and teachers authority in resource management and decision making. The focus of this research is on how the head of the as a transformational leader can have a positive impact on teacher performance through the implementation of School Based Management (SBM). The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study in Raudlatul Athfal (RA) Al-Hidmah Maron Probolinggo which has successfully implemented transformational leadership based on school based management (SBM). Data was collected through in-depth interviews with madrasah heads, teachers, and heads of IGRA (Ikatan Guru Raudlatul Athfal)  Kecamatan Maron.  The results of research in Raudlatul Athfal (RA) Al-Hidmah Maron Probolinggo show that transformational leadership of madrasah heads has an important role in improving teacher performance. Through inspiration, motivation, and the development of a shared vision, the head of the madrasah encourages teachers to actively participate in the decision-making and implementation of School Based Management (SBM). In addition, effective communication, coaching, and self-development are also key elements of  successful transformational leadership. The implications of these findings can be used as a basis for the development of more effective education policies and leadership training in madrassas.

Abstract

Ethnomathematics is the study of the relationship between mathematics and culture. The culture in question is related to the habits of human behavior in their environment. It is intended that through ethnomathematics, students can better understand mathematical concepts and their culture so as to create meaningful learning. It is important for teachers to develop a mathematics learning model that is meaningful to students from the aspects of content and process. One of the efforts that can be made is to design an ethnomathematics-based Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) in mathematics learning. The method used in writing this article is literature review. Based on supporting theories, it can be concluded that HLT is a learning design that includes student learning activities based on initial understanding abilities and student characteristics to achieve higher understanding abilities. HLT consists of three components, namely learning objectives, learning activities and learning process hypothesis. HLT in material form is in the form of context and content related to culture-based environment. Developing ethnomathematics-based HLT means using cultural values contextually by considering learning obstacles, material linkages, learning stages that are in accordance with students' thinking abilities, methods used by students and the carrying capacity of learning.

Abstract

A teaching module is a set of tools, media, methods, instructions and learning guidelines that are prepared and planned to suit the student's development phase. The following research aims to examine the feasibility of a product from developing a project-based SMAW Welding Module (PjBl) for Mechanical Engineering Vocational Education students, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This research was carried out using a quantitative approach. The following research is part of research and development using the Borg and Gall method, namely Develop Preliminary Form of Product Testing using the Expert Judgment validity test. The research results were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The research results showed that the feasibility of the module content reached 87% in the very good and very feasible category, the feasibility of the learning presentation reached 92% in the very good and very appropriate category, the appropriateness of the language reached 89% and was in the very good and very feasible category and finally based on feasibility. Graphics reached 93% so it is included in the very good and very worthy category. Overall, the conclusion is drawn that the validity of the Project-based SMAW Welding Module (PjBl) is in the very good and very feasible category and can be continued to the Preliminary Field Testing stage.

Abstract

The current era of technology is a new innovation in social life. Almost all human activities are involved with technology. The development of technological has recently progressed very rapidly. Over time, technology has penetrated various sectors, including the education sector. The purpose of this research is to find out whether SD Negeri Bakalan has utilized technology-based learning media. The research method used is a qualitative method by means of interviews to obtain information about whether the elementary school has implemented technology-based learning media. The results of this research are that at SD Negeri Bakalan, which we interviewed one of the teacher, has implemented technology-based learning media, namely the Canva application and using PowerPoint as a learning media. The utilization of learning media is not all subjects can use PowerPoint, only subjects such as IPAS can use this learning media. The use of PowerPoint learning media can increase students' enthusiasm in participating in learning.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the efforts made by Universitas Islam Indonesia in improving the quality of its education, as well as to get an overview of how total quality management is implemented at Universitas Islam Indonesia. Through this analytical qualitative approach, it is expected to reveal a picture of the quality, reality, and effectiveness of the Islamic University of Indonesia's educational institutions, especially in terms of its performance management. The results of total quality management at the Islamic University of Indonesia educational institution can show a significant positive impact on the institution, as well as for Muslims, especially in Indonesia and in general for Muslims around the world. There is a convincing correspondence between the data that the author obtained from observations and the results of interviews with the school, so it is known that the Islamic University of Indonesia Palembang has a quality appearance. This school has carried out a total management process or Total Quality Management (TQM) at every level of management, starting from determining the school quality policy by the top leadership, interpreting and implementing the policy into operational procedures at the middle management level, and carrying out technical work by the lowest line management and carrying out quality control with ISO 9001: 2008 standards very well.

Abstract

Knowledge of maintaining reproductive organs and preventing sex abuse in school-age children has a very important role in helping their knowledge about maintaining their reproductive health and preventing sexual crimes. Experimental with pre-test and post-test using animated videos. The sampling technique used was total sampling (32 respondents) class VIII-H at SMPN 9 Gresik. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire on maintaining reproductive organs and preventing sex abuse. Average knowledge before being given health education (52.02) and after being given health education (75.91). The average understanding of preventing sex abuse before being given health education (70.31) and after being given health education (82.50). The results of the paired t-test showed the influence of health education (animated videos) on knowledge of reproductive organ maintenance and preventing sex abuse at school age (pvalue 0.000). There is an influence of animated videos on knowledge of maintaining reproductive organs and preventing sex abuse in school-aged children at SMPN 9 Gresik.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on the material about the elements of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in class VII C SMPN 7 MATARAM in the 2022/2023 academic year. The research method used is classroom action research with a cycle of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were students of class VII C consisting of 30 students. Data were obtained through observation, written tests, interviews and documentation to measure students' critical thinking skills.  The results showed that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model was effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. In the first cycle, only 43.33% of students reached the minimum completion criteria. However, after applying the PBL model in the second cycle, the percentage of students who reached the minimum completeness increased to 73.33%. And in the third cycle the percentage of students who reached the minimum completeness increased to 93.33%. In addition, the observation results also showed an increase in students' activities and participation during learning. Learners actively discuss, exchange opinions, and find solutions to the problems given. This shows an increase in students' critical thinking skills. Based on the results of this study, it can be a reference for teachers and other researchers who are interested in improving students' critical thinking skills through innovative learning approaches.
