Abstract

This study aims to describe 1) the form of social criticism in the collection of short stories Matinya Tukang Dongeng, 2) the form of conveying social criticism in the short story collection Matiya Tukang Dongeng, and. Qualitative design is employed as the framework for this research. The method used in collecting data is literature study and interviews. This study uses data identification, data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, concluding, and verification. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Forms of social criticism found as many as 61 data, namely: 4 data on poverty issues, 16 data on crime problems, 11 data on political issues, 19 data on religion,, 2 data on education problems, 6 data on family disorganization problems, and 3 data on war issues, 2) Forms of delivery of social criticism totaling 61 data, consisting of 30 data of direct delivery forms and 31 data of indirect delivery forms including 3 data of cynical delivery forms, 22 interpretive forms of delivery, and 6 symbolic forms of delivery.

Abstract

In today's digital age, many students still face challenges in learning, particularly in mastering spoken English. Despite this, there's a plethora of tools available to support educational needs. Students now have access to knowledge not only through traditional books but also via smartphones, with AI-based apps emerging as a popular option in the educational landscape. This study aims to gauge student response to using the Cake AI-based application to enhance their speaking skills. Employing a mixed-method approach, the research utilized observation via the triple E rubric and interviews as data collection instruments. Participants included grade 11 students from SMA N 1 KUBUTAMBAHAN. Findings suggest that this application effectively boosts student motivation and improves their speaking abilities.

Abstract

Education is the main foundation for human growth in an ever-developing world. In this context, the learning environment in the classroom is a crucial factor that influences the effectiveness of the learning process. The researcher applied a qualitative phenomenological approach in completing this research to understand how the psychosocial and physical environment of the classroom at SMPN 2 Denpasar influences the learning process. A conducive class is the main focus, considering various aspects ranging from cleanliness, freedom to learn, to student-teacher social interaction. The role of a teacher who serves as a class manager who is responsible for creating a learning environment that motivates students as well as teachers. The research results highlight that a conducive classroom environment does not only involve physical aspects such as room layout, but also social and psychological aspects. Positive social interactions, students' freedom to learn, and camaraderie in the classroom influence their learning motivation. Organizing the classroom environment holistically is an important key in increasing the effectiveness of the learning process. Teachers need to understand their role in creating a learning atmosphere that stimulates student learning motivation. By paying attention to these aspects, the learning process becomes effective and is able to improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This article discusses the use of e-learning technology in dance learning through a comprehensive literature review. The research approach involves analysis of the successes and barriers to the use of e-learning technology, with a focus on increasing accessibility and student engagement. The research results show that e-learning technology has succeeded in increasing the accessibility and flexibility of learning, allowing students to access material anytime and anywhere. Interactive features such as videos and discussion forums also help increase student engagement in dance learning. However, barriers such as limited access and technological infrastructure, as well as challenges in integrating cultural aspects, require special attention. Limited access can create a digital divide, while cultural challenges highlight the need to maintain cultural values ​​in dance learning. In addition, this article identifies trends in the development of e-learning technology, such as the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), which can enhance the learning experience by providing dance simulations and additional visual elements. Implications of the results of this research for dance learning practices involves efforts to increase the accessibility of e-learning technology, as well as the development of technology that is more sensitive to the cultural aspects of dance. In conclusion, the use of e-learning technology in dance learning provides significant potential, but attention needs to be paid to the challenges that arise to ensure effective implementation.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the importance of character education for Sekehe Gong Taman Satya Budaya Kerobokan Kelod through the media of Gong Kebyar gamelan training. The data collection methods used were observation, literature study, documentation study and interviews where data collection was carried out by observation and interviews in the field. The analysis used is qualitative analysis. This research uses factors that influence the level of success in character education and is linked to the Gong Kebyar gamelan learning method. This is very significant considering that character education is an effort to embody the Sekehe Gong Taman Satya Budaya Kerobokan Kelod which is based on the reality of the problems in this research such as the decline in the quality of youth's attractiveness in participating in musical arts due to digital technology. By optimizing character education for youth at Sekehe Gong Taman Satya Budaya Kerobokan Kelod through the application of musical art teaching methods, especially Gong Kebyar, youth are expected to be able to increase good knowledge (moral knowing), good feelings (moral feeling) and good behavior (moral action). Theoretically, the results of this research are expected to contribute to the community of Banjar Taman Kerobokan Kelod so that it can help in increasing the intelligence of students and can be applied in both formal and informal learning processes, so that the aim of character education through art can provide material to students, so that they can also realize it significantly.

Abstract

In this research, an examination was conducted on the use of taboo words, specifically in the Balinese language, within Pedawa Village. The primary aim of this investigation is to uncover the instances of taboo words employed in the three harmonious concepts of life (Tri Hita Karana). The study is situated in Pedawa Village, Buleleng. Consequently, a descriptive qualitative method was employed in the research design. The main tools utilized in the study were the researcher as the principal instrument and an interview guide. Data collection involved in-depth interviews, and three informants were selected during these sessions as the primary data sources. The findings of the study revealed a total of sixty-eight (68) instances of taboo words being used. This outcome underscores that the residents of Pedawa Village persist in utilizing taboo words in the Balinese language as a means of preserving their cultural heritage.

Abstract

Pembelajaran seni tari merupakan upaya penting untuk melestarikan budaya Bali, namun di SMP Negeri 6 Denpasar, pemahaman siswa terhadap teknik dasar tari Bali masih kurang. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, media audio visual diharapkan dapat menjembatani kesenjangan tersebut dengan memberikan contoh gerakan dan ekspresi yang benar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode gabungan kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan desain Weak Experimental Design (Pre-experimental) melalui One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan video pembelajaran meningkatkan nilai rata-rata siswa dari 59,50 menjadi 76,50. Proses pembelajaran meliputi penyampaian tujuan, demonstrasi, dan diskusi. Uji-r menunjukkan korelasi positif signifikan antara penggunaan video dan hasil belajar siswa. Faktor pendukung termasuk teknologi dan fasilitas sekolah, sedangkan penghambatnya adalah pemadaman listrik dan ruang praktik yang terbatas akibat pembangunan gedung aula. Dengan demikian, penerapan media audio visual dalam pembelajaran teknik dasar Tari Bali Putri tidak hanya efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar, tetapi juga memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap pelestarian budaya melalui pendidikan seni tari di sekolah. Penelitian ini membuka peluang untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut dalam penggunaan media pembelajaran yang inovatif di masa depan.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the forms of ego defense mechanisms from the character named Zenchi Naigu in the short story "Hana" by Akutagawa Ryunosuke, in dealing with his anxiety that caused by physical abnormality (a long nose). The process of collecting data was using a note-taking method, then analyzed with descriptive qualitative. The theory employed is Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis theory with a literary psychology approach. The classification of ego defense mechanisms used refers to the classification proposed by Albertine Minderop. The results showed that there are six forms of ego defense mechanisms by the character Zenchi Naigu in order to cope with his anxiety, such as rationalization, repression, sublimation, reaction formation, stereotype, and displacement. The part of rationalization is the most dominant ego defense mechanism used by Zenchi Naigu to suppress his anxiety. The ego attempts to justify the id’s desire to have a short nose by providing rational reasons that can be accepted by his superego through the rationalization. The ego defense mechanisms used by Zenchi Naigu to prevent the situations that can cause anxiety, discomfort, or internal conflicts resulting from id desires that cannot be accepted by the superego, as they contradict the values upheld from the character Zenchi Naigu.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of learning outcomes (PJOK) through basketball material for Class X2 students of SMA Negeri 9 Denpasar by implementing the Problem Based Learning learning model. This research is a type of classroom action research. The subjects of this study were class X2 students of SMA Negeri 9 Denpasar, while the object of the study was basketball shooting and passing material with the implementation of the Problem Based Learning learning model. Data were taken by means of test observation of passing technique movements, shooting techniques, with the assessment format of passing techniques, shooting techniques, on cognitive and psychomotor aspects. Data were analyzed using Descriptive Statistics analysis. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve learning outcomes (PJOK) through basketball for Class X2 students of SMA Negeri 9 Denpasar in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. It can be seen in cycle I and cycle II that the percentage increase in PJOK learning outcomes is quite significant. So the results of PJOK learning in cycle I, the number of students who completed was 14 people and those who did not complete were 22 people. Meanwhile, in cycle II, the number of students who completed was 33 people and 3 people received average or sufficient scores.

Abstract

The phenomenon of conventional reading learning is often less interesting for students and results in low engagement in learning activities. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of audio-visual media from the English Fairy Tales YouTube channel in improving students' reading comprehension skills. This study used quantitative method with pre-experimental research design, namely one-group pre-test and post-test. The sample of this study was a group of students selected using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests given before and after treatment with audio-visual media. The test consisted of 30 multiple choice questions which were previously tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25 for Windows, with descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Descriptive analysis was conducted to determine students' basic reading skills, while inferential analysis used T-test to compare data before and after treatment. The results showed that the use of audio-visual media from the English Fairy Tales YouTube channel significantly improved students' reading comprehension skills. The conclusion of this study is that audio-visual media can be an effective alternative to conventional learning methods in increasing students' interest and engagement in reading activities
