Abstract

Learning Indonesian is mandatory learning given in elementary schools. There are four skills that students must master in learning Indonesian, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. One of the language skills that is considered difficult for students is writing skills. This condition is motivated by students having difficulty expressing their creative ideas into writing. Implementing learning strategies can support the achievement of learning essay writing skills, in this case narrative essays. This research aims to identify through literature studies appropriate learning strategies in learning to write narratives for elementary school students. The method used is a descriptive qualitative research method. Data was collected through literature studies from various sources ranging from articles, books, theses and theses that examine learning to write narratives. The results of this research show that there are various strategies that can be implemented in learning to write narrative essays, starting from implementing approaches, models, methods, to utilizing learning media so as to create learning that suits needs and achieves material achievement indicators.

Abstract

This action research investigated the impact of AI and mind mapping techniques on enhancing student creativity in short story writing. Recognizing the significance of short story writing in language skill development, the study addressed the challenge of ineffective teaching methods in literature education. Employing a qualitative approach with action research methodology, the study spanned two cycles. The first involved initial data collection through interviews and a baseline short story writing test. The second cycle introduced AI and mind mapping, followed by a subsequent writing test. Results demonstrated a significant increase in student creativity through mind mapping. This technique facilitated idea generation and conceptualization, leading to more imaginative and coherent narratives, reflected in a 17.22% improvement. Furthermore, integrating AI and mind maps as learning tools heightened student motivation, engagement, and enthusiasm. This enhanced involvement fostered deeper comprehension of the material, consequently improving the overall effectiveness of the learning process. The study highlights the potential of these innovative methods in cultivating creativity and improving short story writing skills.

Abstract

This study aims to present and reveal the meanings of the impact of bullying as depicted in the film "Kenapa Gue?" through Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis approach. The film portrays bullying in a university environment that leads to suicide. This research employs a descriptive-qualitative method by watching the film and analyzing it using the macrostructure, superstructure, and microstructure of Van Dijk's model. In the film "Kenapa Gue?", the macrostructure that can be derived from the film is social media in general. The superstructure of the film is the conflict that is organized sequentially. As for the microstructure in the film "Kenapa Gue?", it includes the two aspects of social media used for bullying, namely from the perspective of the perpetrator in the bullying content and the audience of such content. The results of the study indicate that this film reflects social issues relevant to technological advancements, particularly in the context of cyberbullying and the wise use of social media to avoid prolonged negative impacts. This analysis also emphasizes that the discourse in the film has a significant impact on public understanding of the consequences of bullying and the importance of social support in preventing it.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the meaning relations of synonymy in the album Menari Dengan Bayangan by Hindia. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The theory used is semantic meaning relation theory. The data of this research are morphemes, words and phrases contained in 15 songs in the album Menari Dengan Bayangan by Hindia. This research is conducted to reveal how the meaning relations of synonymy that occur in the song album by Hindia. The data collection techniques used are listening techniques and note-taking techniques. The systematic data analysis is in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study found the existence of synonymy meaning relations contained in 43 data, including; 5 data of synonymy between free morphemes and bound morphemes that have meaning as a form of ownership of pronomina or personal pronouns, 26 data of synonymy between words and words that have meaning as a form of will, hope, action, and feelings, 10 data of synonymy between words and phrases that have meaning as a form of state, difficulty, period, and attitude, and 2 data of synonymy between phrases with phrases that have meaning as a form of action or feeling.

Abstract

This research delves into the language disorders portrayed by Dodo Rozak in the Indonesian film "Miracle in Cell No. 7," examining how individuals with intellectual disabilities interact linguistically. Grounded in psycholinguistics, the study employs a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze phonological, morphological, and syntactic deviations stemming from disrupted language development, often attributed to brain hemisphere impairments. Data, gathered through attentive listening and meticulous note-taking, were scrutinized utilizing matching techniques, specifically PUP and HBB. The findings illuminate a spectrum of linguistic errors. Phonological anomalies included phoneme alterations, omissions, and substitutions. Morphological irregularities manifested as incorrect affixation. Syntactic errors were evident in sentences that strayed from conventional language structures. This study underscores the film's depiction of language impairments, offering valuable insights into the specific linguistic challenges encountered by individuals with intellectual disabilities, and enriching our comprehension of psycholinguistic phenomena within the realm of cinematic representation. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of language disorders in a real world context.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study investigated the learning challenges faced by 50 Performing Arts education students at FKIP UNTAN in mastering the Jepin Tembung Panjang dance, a traditional Malay dance from West Kalimantan, within the Advanced Basic Malay Dance course. Utilizing interviews, documentation, and questionnaires, the research identified both internal and external factors hindering students' progress. Internal difficulties included varying levels of prior dance experience, leading to challenges in synchronizing body movements, and a lack of sensitivity to musical beats due to the use of recorded music. External challenges involved the complexities of mastering the dance's wirasa, wiraga, and wirama components, essential for professional dance competency. The research underscores the necessity of enhancing students' movement skills to elevate their dance proficiency. The findings serve as a valuable resource for evaluating current teaching methodologies and developing future solutions to optimize the Jepin Tembung Panjang dance learning experience, ensuring prospective cultural arts teachers are well-equipped with local traditional dance knowledge for their future careers.

Abstract

This research addressed the need for engaging and effective learning media in Indonesian language education, focusing on improving reading comprehension skills among fifth-grade students. Recognizing the limitations of standard worksheets, the study developed and validated the Education Gift Box (DUGIBO), a learning tool designed to teach main idea identification within environmental insight texts. Employing a research and development approach using the 4D model, the study aimed to assess the validity of DUGIBO as a viable educational resource. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation, involving an expert validator, a stakeholder teacher, and 21 students from class 5A at MI Ma'arif Kadipaten Ponorogo. The evaluation encompassed media, material, and language aspects, with data analyzed using percentage correction formulas. The findings revealed that the expert validation yielded a "very valid" rating, indicating the high quality and suitability of the DUGIBO media. Furthermore, student responses, gathered through questionnaires, demonstrated a "very good" reception, highlighting the media's effectiveness and appeal. Consequently, the study concluded that DUGIBO is a highly valid and feasible learning medium for enhancing reading skills in Indonesian language instruction, offering a valuable alternative to traditional learning materials and promoting environmental awareness.

Abstract

This research explored the semiotic representation of Javanese mysticism in Alim Sudio's film "Bayi Ajaib," employing Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic framework to analyze the use of icons, indexes, and symbols. The study, focusing on the film's portrayal of supernatural beliefs prevalent within Javanese culture, utilized verbal and non-verbal data, including dialogues and visual elements. Data collection involved film observation, transcript creation, and coding of semiotic elements. Analysis, conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, revealed distinct applications of Peirce's categories. Icons were observed in sentences expressing future imagination and visuals mirroring real-world forms. Indexes were employed to generate tension and emotional engagement, contributing to the film's narrative. Symbols, such as the ayam cemani and sajen, were utilized to represent agreed-upon cultural elements within Javanese tradition. The study provides insights into how semiotics are utilized to convey cultural beliefs and mystical themes within a cinematic context, highlighting the film's reflection of Javanese society's enduring fascination with the supernatural.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the use of humorous speech acts in the Barakatak column of Manglé magazine as a reflection of pragmatic communication within the Sundanese cultural context. Humor in local, regionally-based media plays a vital role in conveying social criticism and preserving the existence of indigenous languages. However, linguistic research on local humor—especially from a pragmatic perspective—remains notably limited. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. The data consist of humorous texts extracted from the Barakatak column in the September–October editions. Various types of speech acts were identified, including locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts. Furthermore, each entry was found to contain humor functions such as commissive, impositive, expressive, and assertive functions. Lastly, numerous forms of sociocultural criticism were discovered, illustrating the embodiment of local wisdom in Sundanese culture. The analysis of eleven Barakatak entries revealed key patterns in speech acts, humor functions, and cultural context. These findings indicate that the humor presented in Barakatak serves not merely as entertainment, but also as an effective and nuanced form of cultural communication for articulating social criticism within the Sundanese community.

Abstract

Language acquisition is one of the essential processes in human development, especially during childhood. This process takes place gradually, starting from age 0 through to adulthood. This study aims to analyze the acquisition of the Indonesian language in children aged 4–5 years at Al Hidayah Kuripan Kindergarten, focusing on four psycholinguistic competencies: semantics, phonology, morphology, and syntax. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results show that the children at Al Hidayah Kindergarten Kuripan have developed the ability to understand word meanings according to context (semantics), produce language sounds with substitution and simplification processes (phonology), form words using affixation and reduplication (morphology), and construct sentence structures such as declarative, imperative, and interrogative sentences (syntax). However, these abilities are still at a basic level, with limited vocabulary and frequent grammatical errors as well as sound mismatches. Additionally, the results indicate that the influence of the mother tongue (Javanese) is present in several aspects, such as the use of non-standard words and distinctive particles. This research contributes to the understanding of early childhood language development and serves as a reference for parents, teachers, and policymakers in supporting effective language learning.
