Abstract

Wasteful use of electrical energy, apart from the use of electrical loads, is also caused by wasteful and uncontrolled use of electrical loads. Electrical energy that is not used as needed causes electricity waste. This research aims to use the IoT system for electrical automation and monitoring the amount of electricity in a room. In this way, saving electricity and monitoring the amount of electricity can be done easily through the IoT system at anytime and anywhere. The method used in this research is an experimental method, namely designing equipment according to the planned system and preparing a program according to the desired tool working system. The research object is the electrical load in three rooms consisting of three load groups, each load group is represented by a PIR sensor light, namely the equipment used is the PZEM sensor, PIR sensor, RTC, ESP 32, Triac, Optocoupler, and other supporting equipment. The results of the research show that the equipment has worked well and has been tested well, electricity savings are shown through the monitor on the Android cellphone using the Blynk application which was previously installed. Every time there is a person in the room, the PIR sensor always detects the object and activates the electrical load and vice versa. Apart from that, the cellphone monitor screen also displays from time to time the amount of electricity used by the load, including the electrical energy used and the electrical energy savings that can be done.

Abstract

A green campus becomes one of the approaches to overcoming global warming. The green campus evaluation program currently being conducted by Universitas Indonesia is the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, and one of the categories is transportation. One of the main contributors to pollution levels and carbon emissions is the transportation sector and is potentially to continue to rise unless sustainable prevention efforts are made. With its limited area, Politeknik Negeri Medan needs a more effective transportation arrangement to make it an environmentally friendly campus. Greenmetric assessments are conducted on existing conditions referring to the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2023 Guidelines with several criteria, namely the total number of vehicles (cars and motorcycles) divided by total campus population, shuttle services, zero emission vehicles (ZEV) policy on campus, the total number of zero emission vehicles (ZEV) divided by total campus population, ratio of ground parking area to total campus area, program to limit or decrease the parking area on campus for the last 3 years (from 2020 to 2022), number of initiatives to decrease private vehicles on campus, and pedestrian path on campus. The scoring result in the existing conditions is 725, or only about 40.3% of the total maximum value. GreenMetric scoring will increase to 1250 or 69.4% by implementing solutions for transportation arrangements in Politeknik Negeri Medan. The solutions are the use of access cards to filter unauthorized vehicles into the campus area, providing official vehicles electric cars and bicycles for use in the campus area, reducing the ground parking by making a vertical parking, utilizing buses as shuttle facilities for the academic community around the campus with a certain radius to reduce the use of private vehicles and supplementing existing pedestrian paths according to standards of safety, comfort and disability-friendly aspects by adding handrails, roof covers, directions, ramps for disabilities.

Abstract

The furniture industry is a potential sector to be developed in Indonesia because it is supported by the availability of abundant natural resources in the country. This furniture market opportunity will continue to grow in the future but must be supported by production factors, namely the provision of quality raw materials, capital and skilled labor. However, this industry is not free from problems such as the quality of raw materials. Wood raw materials in Indonesia are abundant but there is no special treatment to maintain its quality, so the quality of production is hampered. Good wood raw materials are raw materials that avoid damage and weathering. To maintain this quality, the ideal requirement for room temperature for storage is 18oC and room humidity 65%. Changes in temperature and humidity in the storage warehouse always follow changes in temperature and humidity around it. For this reason, further studies are needed on the temperature and humidity monitoring system in the storage warehouse and if there are significant changes, a dehumidifier device is used to keep the temperature and humidity in a room stable.

Abstract

Solar power plants that utilize solar energy to be converted into electrical energy have several advantages compared to other power plants, namely that they do not produce air pollution, are available continuously and are available everywhere. Coffee is a commodity in the world that is cultivated in more than 50 countries. Two species of coffee trees that are generally known are Robusta Coffee and Arabica Coffee. Processing coffee before consumption goes through a long process, namely from harvesting coffee beans that are ready to harvest. Then proceed with drying before roasting. Coffee roasting machine that uses an AC motor. The motor gets a DC power source from a solar power plant then the inverter changes the DC voltage to AC. This coffee roasting machine is equipped with IoT to control the motor rotation remotely and monitor the temperature. The battery has the function of storing electrical energy produced by solar panels in the form of direct current energy. The energy stored in the battery functions as a backup, which is usually used when the solar panels do not produce electrical energy. The greater the capacity of the battery used, the longer the battery can back up the load used.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the development of understanding in relation to Japanese work ethics and culture before and after the program. A study design based on qualitative description was utilized. The sample comprised 30 individuals who were potential workers in the field of tokutei ginou or Specified Skilled Workers (SSW) batch 3. The evaluation stage entails conducting observations and surveys to assess the extent of understanding and readiness of prospective workers to relocate to Japan, considering their acquired knowledge of work ethics and culture. The survey results and attitude assessment of prospective employees after receiving the material were overwhelmingly positive. Most of the recently admitted students at LPK Tomoni have limited familiarity with work ethics or cultural norms in Japan, particularly for those intending to pursue employment in the country. Proficient communication abilities are essential for fostering collaboration within Japanese organizations. The comments received after the conclusion of work ethic and culture training in Japan were highly positive, especially about the attitudes that would be adopted after obtaining this knowledge.

Abstract

Masks are essential for preventing people from breathing in dangerous compounds and airborne pollutants. On the other hand, incorrect mask disposal presents a serious environmental risk. Medical masks are mostly made of polypropylene and are formed of three layers: a central layer of melt-blown material, an outer layer of waterproof non-woven fabric, and an interior layer. This research aims to determine the effect of medical mask waste fiber on the rheological characteristics of asphalt. In terms of the rheological characteristics of asphalt, the addition of asphalt will decrease the penetration, ductility, specific gravity, and lost on heating, and increase the viscosity, softening point, and flash point. The positive impact is that the inclusion of mask waste results in increased asphalt hardness, enhancing resistance to rutting. On the other hand, the negative impact is that the inclusion of masking waste will reduce the resistance to cracking due to the reduced elasticity.

Abstract

TKI complains about various problems, namely being sent home, salaries not being paid, termination of employment before the work agreement ends, overstaying, and TKI not leaving. For this reason, it is necessary to monitor the progress of migrant workers while working abroad as well as the problems that occur in the government and among migrant workers themselves. Violations and prevention can be avoided if migrant workers know the laws, social and culture abroad, especially in Taiwan. On the other hand, TKI must know how to submit complaints to the Indonesian government, foreign governments, and closest government representatives. The problem that most often occurs is that the company terminates employment without terminating the contract, for this reason, we need an application that can help us find work before being sent home because the cost of becoming a migrant worker is very expensive. This has resulted in many illegal migrant workers, especially in Taiwan. This research targets the realization of a product in the form of the E-TWI application: Legal Protection, Prevention of Violations, and Job Search for Migrant Workers in Taiwan. Apart from that, this service product also aims to improve the quality of preventive treatment and legal protection for migrant workers in Tainan, Taiwan, reduce the budget figure for migrant workers, especially FKKBWIT members, and reduce the number of TKI who are forced to flee due to natural disasters accident lose their job. The E-TWI application: Legal Protection, Prevention of Violations and Job Search for Taiwanese Migrant Workers has features: reporting, complaints, legal and violation education, posting job vacancies to fellow workers, searching for work agents, and consulting legal and employment services.
