Abstract

This study examines the implementation of integrated communication for social change in the process of adopting and disseminating agricultural technology innovations at the TAMARA Cooperative in Sukabumi. This study uses a qualitative approach with Figueroa's integrated communication theory as the framework for analysis. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with the founders and members of the cooperative. The results of the study show that the adoption of technologies such as portable soil testing equipment, tractors, processing machines, and packaging machines was carried out through a process of dialogue, consensus, collective action, and participatory evaluation. The source of the technology came from a grant from Bank Indonesia, which was tailored to the needs of the members. Technological innovations have proven to increase work efficiency, product quality and durability, and encourage changes in farmers' behavior and knowledge. The main challenges faced are the education process, technology adaptation, and product quality assurance. These findings are influenced by Sukabumi's strong local character of community solidarity, so replication in other areas requires adjustments to the social context. The cooperative addresses differences in technological literacy through gradual training and hands-on mentoring so that all members can adapt. Sustainability strategies for the next 3–5 years include plans to build greenhouses, expand precision technology, and diversify processed products. From an environmental perspective, the use of modern tools promotes water and fertilizer efficiency, though proper waste management remains necessary to avoid ecological risks. This study also underscores the need for local policy support in the form of financing facilitation, technology training, and access to agricultural tools to strengthen this participatory communication model. Abstract

This study aims to analyze product quality at the Cilok Ayam Gurilem Sukabumi business using three simple problem-solving tools, namely checksheets, Pareto diagrams, and fishbone diagrams. These three tools are used to map the types of defects that arise during the production process and identify the dominant contributing factors. Data collection was conducted through direct observation and daily recording over a period of four weeks, thereby obtaining a realistic picture of product quality variations. The results of the study show that shape defects were the most dominant problem with a total of 3,058 units (54%), followed by raw material inconsistencies amounting to 1,900 units (34%), and thin dough at 680 units (12%). Through a fishbone diagram, the main causes were identified as unstandardized forming techniques, varying raw material quality, and equipment conditions requiring better maintenance. Implicitly, this research provides practical contributions to food MSMEs in the form of a simplequality control model that can be directly applied without significant costs, while also providing added value in the form of an integrative approach between quantitative and qualitative data to trace the root causes of production problems. Overall, this study emphasizes the importance of implementing work standards, operator training, and more systematic raw material inspections to improve quality consistency and production sustainability.

Abstract

The growth of the beauty industry in Indonesia has increased competition among skincare brands, including local producers striving to differentiate themselves through product innovation. However, local brands such as OGANIC still face challenges in understanding the specific attributes that most influence consumer purchasing decisions, especially in urban markets like Mataram City. OGANIC is a local company brand engaged in the beauty industry, specifically in the production and development of organic skincare products. The natural ingredients used in this product include spirulina, seaweed, and premium pearl extract, all of which are natural ingredients with great potential available in the Lombok Island region. This study aims to determine what attributes are preferred by consumers and the attributes that consumers consider most when deciding to purchase OGANIC skincare in Mataram City. The determination of respondents as a sample was carried out by accidental sampling with a total of 50 respondents who purchased the product. The data obtained were analyzed using conjoint analysis. Based on the analysis results, consumers' main preferences for OGANIC skincare are those that contain natural ingredients, have a price above Rp. 100,000, are national brands, use glass bottles and are used by influencers. The OGANIC skincare attributes that consumers consider most in making purchases, sequentially based on importance, are ingredients, price, brand, product reputation, and packaging. It is expected that from the results of this study, manufacturers should improve the performance of OGANIC skincare attributes that are considered less important in their influence and maintain the performance of attributes that are considered important according to what consumers feel. This finding contributes scientifically by providing a conjoint analysis consumer preference model that can be used for the development of more competitive OGANIC brand skin care product strategies.

Abstract

Rice is a strategic commodity that plays a vital role in national food security. However, productivity in several regions of Indonesia, including Kubu Raya Regency, remains relatively low due to inefficient input use. This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of rice farming and the socioeconomic factors influencing it in Sungai Rengas Village, Sungai Kakap District. The study used a survey method with 65 farmer respondents selected purposively. Input-oriented Data Envelopment Analysis was applied with Constant Return to Scale (CRS) and Variable Return to Scale (VRS) assumptions, while Tobit regression was used to examine the influence of socioeconomic factors on the level of technical efficiency. The results showed an average technical efficiency of 0.823 in the CRS model and increased to 0.908 in the VRS model, with some farmers having achieved full efficiency. An analysis of the efficiency scale shows that the majority of farmers are in the Increasing Returns to Scale (IRS) stage, indicating potential for increased output through additional inputs. Tobit regression results revealed that age significantly negatively impacted efficiency, while superior seed type significantly positively impacted technical efficiency. This study confirms that increased efficiency can be achieved through the selection of superior seeds, more proportional input management, and adjustments to the farming scale.

Abstract

This study investigated the social structure, actor relations, and challenges in the development of the coconut coir industry in Indragiri Hilir Regency, one of Indonesia’s largest coconut-producing regions. Despite abundant raw materials, the downstream coconut coir sector remains underdeveloped and characterized by structural inequalities. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving key actors, including farmers, collectors, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and government institutions. The findings revealed a hierarchical social structure and pronounced power asymmetries within the production chain. Farmers occupy subordinate positions due to limited capital, technology, and market information, functioning as price takers with minimal access to added value. Large collectors dominate pricing, distribution, and access to markets, creating a local oligopsonistic structure. Patron–client relations further reinforce economic dependency, limiting farmers’ autonomy to engage with alternative markets. Additionally, institutional weaknesses, fragmented government policies, rudimentary processing technologies, and insufficient logistics infrastructure hinder the development of a more inclusive and competitive value chain. The study highlights that social, economic, and institutional factors jointly shape structural barriers, underscoring the need for coordinated interventions to strengthen farmer agency, institutional capacity, and equitable value distribution.
