Abstract

ANALYSIS OF FEED CONCENTRATE FACTOR ON LAYING HEN AMINO ACIDS CONSUMPTION. Laying hens require a number of elements in which nutrients such as protein containing the amino acids are balanced in quality. Recently, there are various types of commercial ration (concentrate) for laying hens produced by the company. Quality of protein is expressed either high or low composition of amino acids depending on the essential amino acids contained in these feeds. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different types of commercial concentrates on the consumption of amino acids in laying chicken. The research was conducted on laying chicken farms located in Matali Village, district of East Kotamobagu, Kotamobagu Municipality. Laying hens of Silver Strains as many as 240 heads at 78-week-old were used in this study. This study applied a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of three treatments and eight replications at each treatment. The treatments were using commercial concentrations of the amino acids for commercial Concentrate A (RA), commercial concentrate B (RB) and commercial concentrate C (RC). The laboratory analysis showed that the majority amounts of essential amino acids (Arginine, Lysine, histidine, leucine, isoleucine, valine, threonine and phenylalanine) of 80% was higher in RC than RB and RA, indicating that the composition of both quality and quantity of amino acids in commercial concentrates C (RC) is sufficient and more balanced than commercial concentrates A (RA) and commercial concentrate B (RB). These complete amino acids in RC increased more feed consumption of laying hens compared with those in RA and RB.Key words: Laying hens, amino acids, commercial concentrate

Abstract

INTERNAL QUALITY OF MB 402 CHICKEN EGG FED GARLIC FLOUR (Allium sativum L) AS FEED ADDITIVE IN THE RATION.  This study aims to determine the internal quality of chicken eggs of MB 402 fed garlic flour (Allium sativum l) as a feed additive in the ration. Eggs are one of the livestock products that have high nutritional value and are complete, at a relatively cheap price. Garlic contains active compounds making it a potential feed additive. The goals of feed additives are the health of livestock, increase production and productivity, reduce mortality, fulfill chicken nutrition, and increase growth acceleration (growth promoter). This research has been carried out at the CV Gunawan Farm for 6 weeks. The research material used 100 laying hens with 5 treatments and 5 replications and each replication was occupied by 4 laying hens. The design used was a completely randomized design, if there are differences, continue with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The treatment arrangements used were as follows: R0 = 100% basal ration (RB); R1 = RB + 1% TBP flour; R2 = RB + 2% TBP flour; R3 = RB + 3% TBP flour; R4 = RB + 4% TBP flour. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion for all variables, that the treatment of garlic flour up to 4% in the ration of laying hens had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the egg white index and egg yolk index, but had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on the yolk color. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion of all variables, it is concluded that giving garlic flour up to 4 percent can improve egg quality. Keywords: internal quality of eggs, garlic (Allium sativum l)

Abstract

UTILIZATION OF ENSILAGE KEPOK BANANA PEELS REPLACING PART OF CORN IN THE DIET ON CARCASSES AND VISCERA INDICES OF BROILER. The purpose of the present research was to determine the substitution of corn with ensilage kepok banana peels (Musa paradisiaca formatypica) in the diet on  carcasses and viscera indices of broiler. Trial was arranged using an experimental study. Sixty unsexed Cobb day old Chicks (DOC) were used in a Completely Randomized Design arrangement, with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments were formulated as follow: R0 = 50% yellow corn + 0% ensilage kepok banana peels, R1 = 42,5% yellow corn + 7,5% ensilage kepok banana peels, R2 = 35% yellow corn + 15% ensilage kepok banana peels, R3 = 27,5% yellow corn + 22.5% ensilage kepok banana peels. Parameters measured were: carcass weight (g), abdominal fat (%), liver weight (%), and gizzard weight (%). Research results showed that, the subtitution of yellow corn with ensilage kepok banana peels gave a significant different (P<0,05) effect on carcass weight, abdominal fat percentage, liver weight percentage, and gizzard weight percentage. The higher the ensilage kepok banana peels replacing corn in the diets, the lower the carcass weight and abdominal fat percentage, whereas liver weight percentage and gizzard weight percentage both decreased as the subtitution of ensilage kepok   banana    peels   increased.  Carcass percentage was the only parameter that was not affected (P>0,05) by treatments. It can be concluded that the utilization of ensilage kepok banana peels up to 30% or 15% can still substitute yellow corn in broiler diets.   Keywords : Broiler, Kepok Banana Peels, Carcasses, Viscera
